We arrived at Astera. The first thing I saw was Astera, half-destroyed. From the damage pattern, it looked more like an earthquake than an Elder Dragon attack. It was likely the work of 'Shara Ishvalda'.

Anyway, when we arrived, the Commander and the survivors gathered to welco us. But when they learned I was the commander of the reinforcents, their expressions subtly changed.

"So this is the result achieved by those who truly understand the ecosystem."

"..."

The Commander said nothing.

"Well, it doesn't matter. I'm not here to fight. Let's unload the supplies first. Then I'll hear the full story."

We unloaded the supplies and listened to the Commander.

In summary, the hunt for Shara Ishvalda had failed. Seliana, the base I'd discovered in the frigid land across the sea, was devastated. Many personnel there were killed. So they abandoned Seliana, rescued the survivors, returned to Astera, and waited for another opportunity. But Astera couldn't withstand the earthquakes caused by Shara Ishvalda and ended up like this.

As a result, only the Commander survived from the First Fleet. From the Second Fleet, only so who remained in Astera survived. The entire Third Fleet was wiped out. From the Fourth Fleet, only the logistics personnel survived. From the Fifth Fleet, only Serious Handler and a few hunters who had been active in Astera survived.

"This is all my fault. We should never have provoked an Elder Dragon beyond our capabilities."

"Hmm... I see. Then let's start with Shara Ishvalda."

I said it so casually that the Commander slamd the table.

BANG!

"You! Didn't you hear ?! Even the Sword Master failed and died! We can't repeat that mistake!"

"You seem to have forgotten sothing. I ca as an Inspector General under the king's orders. Just provide support quietly."

My words gave the Commander a headache. He frowned, massaged his forehead, and slumped into a chair.

"Sigh... This is insane..."

The next day, I prepared to move to Seliana. I'd heard that Shara Ishvalda had crossed into the Hoarfrost Reach. Serious Handler agreed to be my support, but her expression was grim. When I asked, she said she had planned to return to the Old World because Lively Handler had died saving her.

"Could you stay while I'm active?"

When I asked, Serious Handler agreed.

"Alright. I'll do that."

We crossed to Seliana with a few knights. What greeted us was a massive depression where Seliana once stood. At the sight, Serious Handler covered her mouth and quietly wept. I ordered the knights to search Seliana, while Serious Handler and I moved outside Seliana to find Shara Ishvalda. The jagged wind slicing across the white snow-covered land made it clear that this frozen wasteland was lethally cold.

We passed through the hunters' makeshift camps, searching for tracks. The cold was too much for Serious Handler. I left her and my Palico to rest at one of the camps and went out alone to find Shara Ishvalda. Climbing higher, I reached an open area — and there it was. Shara Ishvalda was covered in rocks and sand, its massive fra making it easy to spot.

I imdiately infused my swords with mana, extended the blades, and severed one of Shara Ishvalda's wings. Since this creature burrows into the ground, a preemptive strike was essential.

SLICE!

THUD!

"GRAAAAH!!"

As the massive rocky wing fell away, Shara Ishvalda scread in pain and tried to burrow, but I was faster.

SLICE!

I severed the other wing as well. Shara Ishvalda normally creates vibrations with the tips of its wings to instantly turn the terrain into quicksand and burrow. But without wings, it couldn't.

"You chose the wrong opponent."

Realizing it couldn't escape, Shara Ishvalda spun around, swinging its tail to strike . I severed the tail as well. Then it shed the rocks and sand covering its body and tried to run.

"Not so fast!"

I ran faster than Shara Ishvalda, caught up, jumped onto its back, and drove both Great Swords into its spine.

CRUNCH!

"KYEEEEAAK!!"

CRASH!

DING~!!

You have obtained the ability [(S) Vibration (Shara Ishvalda)].

[(S) Vibration (Shara Ishvalda)]

Can create shockwaves using vibration.

Since the description wasn't clear, I tried activating the ability by cupping my hands. The air between my hands began vibrating and compressing. When it seed to reach its limit, I threw it forward. A massive explosion erupted around the impact point.

KABOOM!

"Hmm... Not a great ability... Well, having it might be useful soday."

Vibration abilities have many uses, but as an attack, it's lacking. By the ti I compress a shockwave like that, I could just throw a pre-made energy bomb or a spell — more powerful and faster to cast. This ability is probably only useful for Shara Ishvalda, whose massive wings allow for greater compression.

While I was testing the ability, I saw Serious Handler and my Palico running from a distance.

"Wow~ You actually got it."

"Huh? How did you know to co here?"

"We heard the roaring and explosions."

They must have heard Shara Ishvalda and testing the ability.

"Why did the Commander send a hunter as capable as you back to the Old World?"

"He said sothing about the ecosystem."

Serious Handler frowned and started to get angry.

"What?! So countless comrades died because of that ecosystem nonsense?! That's ridiculous."

She was genuinely furious. Having known my skills for a long ti, this probably made it worse.

Anyway, we carved Shara Ishvalda and returned to Seliana. The royal knights had gathered the remains of the fallen. Not only people, but many Palicoes had also died.

Fortunately, the extre cold had slowed decomposition.

"Sob..."

Serious Handler was crying over a corpse. I went to see who it was. The head was missing, so I couldn't tell at first. But looking closer, I saw the prosthetic leg I had given her. The corpse was Lively Handler.

"She was a good person. A sha... Let's go back to Astera."

We loaded the corpses onto the ship and returned to Astera. When the Commander heard that I had killed Shara Ishvalda, he admitted his mistake and apologized. Serious Handler slapped his face and started yelling at him — other hunters barely managed to pull her away. Even I was shocked. I never expected Serious Handler, the model student, to get so angry.

Anyway, a month passed after the funerals. When Astera stabilized, we decided to re-establish Seliana. I was busy writing reports to send to the kingdom — and of course, I didn't forget to send letters to the Radiant Goddess.

Another month passed, and Seliana was rebuilt. It now served as the base for the Sixth Fleet — new hunters sent by the kingdom. After so many casualties, the kingdom dispatched them quickly. The new Seliana was led by the Fourth Fleet's logistics leader — a dark-haired, dark-skinned woman. Because of the Shara Ishvalda incident, many capable people had died, so this choice was unavoidable.

Also, the king ordered the knights to remain and support Seliana until it was stable — to avoid another loss like before. The Commander was disciplined for the incident, and orders ca that a new Commander would arrive from the kingdom. The old Commander would hand over command and return ho.

"This is a completely different story from the original."

In the original, the protagonist handled everything. That's practically a Buddha. But I didn't hold back, and this is the result.

Now that Seliana was stabilizing, I started hunting again with Serious Handler. Then, a hunter brought a shed skin found in a certain area. Finally, 'Mufeto Jiiva' — the adult form — had been discovered. I imdiately took Serious Handler on a Wingdrake to the location.

"Look, Xeno'jiiva!"

Serious Handler pointed. A massive Xeno'jiiva-shaped shed skin was draped over a high rock face. Serious Handler thought for a mont, then offered her opinion.

"The Xeno'jiiva we killed — it wasn't an adult. This might be where it shed its skin and reached adulthood."

"Then the adult Xeno'jiiva — Safi'jiiva — might be nearby. Let's find a safe place."

"Got it."

We set up a temporary camp in a crevice above the rock face and waited. Soon, a massive Elder Dragon appeared, kicking up a storm as it entered the area. Judging by its size, it was Safi'jiiva. This area was its nest.

"Wow~ That's a handso one."

"Really? That's your thought right now?"

Serious Handler looked incredulous, but I ca to this world for monts like this. Our perspectives were different.

"Let's return to Seliana and report this."

"Okay."

We returned to Seliana and inford the Commander. She sighed.

"I see. Sigh... Now that Seliana is finally stabilizing, another powerful Elder Dragon appears... This is troubleso..."

"Commander, I'll take care of it. Trust ."

"I'd appreciate that, but is it alright? Inspector General, aren't you too... free with your movents?"

The new Commander seed uncomfortable with , an Inspector General, acting like a regular hunter.

"Don't worry. The king sent for precisely this reason."

Her expression brightened.

"I see. Then I'll leave it to you."

"Leave it to ."

The next day, we prepared and set out to hunt Safi'jiiva. When we arrived, it was just napping in its nest.

"I'll strike imdiately. I'll contact you if anything happens."

"Got it."

I drew my dual Great Swords and jumped, aiming for Safi'jiiva's neck. I intended to end it in one blow.

SHLICE!

"GRAAAAH!!"

But knowing Safi'jiiva absorbs energy, I hadn't coated my swords in mana. The short reach gave shallow cuts. And perhaps because it was older, it twisted its neck at the last mont, avoiding a fatal wound.

"This bastard!"

Still, it couldn't completely avoid the attack. Blood poured from its neck as it slowly rose and glared at .

"Grrr..."

Then it suddenly spread its wings, flew upward, and descended straight into the ground — not to fight, but to flee.

"Ah, damn. It's going to absorb bioenergy."

Xeno'jiiva and Safi'jiiva can absorb and utilize bioenergy. It must be trying to heal its wounds.

I quickly took a Wingdrake and followed it underground.

Deep underground, Safi'jiiva was glowing, absorbing bioenergy. The wound on its neck had already healed — no more bleeding.

"Annoying. I was trying to end this quickly."

I charged at Safi'jiiva, but it suddenly rose into the air and started raining down energy beams.

"Damn!"

The area around was about to be engulfed in flas. I quickly hid behind a large rock. My Palico had already burrowed underground. Safi'jiiva wasn't just spewing fire — it was compressing the energy it had absorbed from the bioenergy and shooting it downward.

KRAKOOOOM!!!

"Keuk!!"

Its beam was far more powerful than in the ga. Despite the rock being enormous, it began to push backward.

When the explosions stopped, I moved even faster, targeting Safi'jiiva. Its beam was no joke. I was determined to kill it before the next one.

In the original ga, you could use the gas vents in the environnt to stagger it and land big damage, but one beam blast had destroyed all of them, leaving almost no cover. I didn't expect Ga Life's reality patch to buff Elder Dragons this much. Without , this world would probably be destroyed by them.

As soon as I closed in, I spun my body and shredded Safi'jiiva's leg with my dual Great Swords. If one cut wouldn't do it, I'd use many.

"GRAAAAH!!"

The powerful dual Great Swords sheared through Safi'jiiva's foreleg, sending it crashing to the ground. Without pause, I spun again, grinding away its hind knee.

SCRAPE SHANK SHANK SHAAA!!

CRUMP!

Unable to bear it, Safi'jiiva collapsed and thrashed.

"It's over."

I jumped, aid for its head, and drove my Great Swords down.

CRUNCH!

I drove them in so deep that the swords disappeared into its head. It couldn't be helped — with a creature this massive, I needed to reach its vital organs.

DING~!

You have acquired abilities [(SS) Energy Drain] and [(SS) Energy Pressure].

[(S) Energy Drain] has been absorbed into [(SS) Energy Drain].

[(SS) Energy Pressure]

Can compress energy to extrely high densities.

[(SS) Energy Drain]

Can absorb, store, release, and recover energy. (When mana is full, can store an additional amount equal to one's own health.)

Upgrading [Energy Drain] to SS rank increased its power and added a recovery effect. But since I already have [Healing Factor], I was satisfied with the power increase.

"Phew~ That was tough, but I got him."

When I succeeded, Serious Handler flew down on a Wingdrake.

"Wow~ Amazing! I thought you were in danger this ti. The explosive force from the beam reached all the way up to where I was."

She was right — Safi'jiiva's beam was extrely dangerous. It's a concentrated, high-density blast of massive amounts of bioenergy.

Just then, the ground burst open and Alma (my Palico) erged. His fur was slightly singed.

"ow ow ow ow!! (Next ti we go to kill sothing like this, don't call !!)"

Seeing the angry, singed Palico, Serious Handler burst into laughter.

"ow!! (Don't laugh!!)"

Anyway, after carving Safi'jiiva, we returned to Seliana and reported.

"I see. You truly are remarkable. Without you, things would have been dire. Thank you."

The Commander was very grateful.

Months passed. The Commander took full responsibility and returned to the Old World.

'I feel a bit sorry for him... but we had different goals. It couldn't be helped.'

His replacent was so scholar type. He was lacking in so areas, but very efficient at administrative work. People like him shine in peaceti, but I'm not sure about during a crisis.

I also hunted Alatreon in the anti. That one was surprisingly easy — I decapitated it with a sneak attack. I also got its abilities:

[(SS) Escaton Judgnt], [(A) Weather Manipulation], [(S) Fla Resistance], [(S) Frost Resistance], [(S) Lightning Resistance]. A monster with many abilities.

But due to my Devil Fruits, elental resistances were almost irrelevant. The [(SS) Escaton Judgnt] ability was absurd. By detonating all the mana in my body at once, it annihilates the surrounding area. I used it far out at sea — if I'd used it on land, it would have been a catastrophe.

"Only Fatalis is left now."

The only remaining monster in Monster Hunter World was the legendary Black Dragon, Fatalis.

While waiting for Fatalis, I passed the ti with Serious Handler, hunting Deviljho and Bazelgeuse — monsters that love to crash other hunters' fights.
