Lu Xiaoer was montarily stunned when she saw the notice posted by the Civil Affairs Bureau.
There was no denying the disappointnt she felt.
Zhongli Wuzhi slightly turned his head to look at Lu Xiaoer, who looked back at him and then smiled,
"It looks like we’ll have to pick another day."
"I think today is a good day. I don’t want to change it."
Zhongli Wuzhi’s stubbornness kicked in again.
He pulled Lu Xiaoer and entered the Civil Affairs Bureau, sitting down at the marriage registration counter.
A staff mber approached them and kindly reminded,
"Sorry, sir, miss, we can’t process marriage registrations today."
Then he pointed at the notice in front, "The system is down, so..."
"Is there no one to fix it?"
Zhongli Wuzhi asked directly.
The staff mber frowned, "Anyway, it can’t be done today. Please go back."
"I saw the door was open, so I ca in. Since we can’t proceed because the system is down, we’ll just wait for it to be fixed. That should be fine, right?"
Zhongli Wuzhi said, still politely gesturing to the staff mber,
"Go ahead with your work, no need to mind us."
"This gentleman, why are you being so obstinate? I’ve told you the computer system is down, and we can’t process marriage registrations today. Can’t you co back tomorrow?"
The staff mber got angry.
Zhongli Wuzhi raised his eyebrows,
"I’ve also said I can wait. Isn’t there still an entire afternoon?"
"Fine, if you’re happy waiting, then just wait, but don’t say I didn’t warn you!"
The staff mber said irritably.
Zhongli Wuzhi was quite calm and didn’t get angry with the staff mber, just holding Lu Xiaoer’s hand and sitting on the seat waiting.
Lu Xiaoer gave him a look and teased,
"Why do you always like doing things that annoy others?"
"Where?"
"Clashing with traffic cops, and now with public servants too."
"..." Zhongli Wuzhi just tightened his grip on Lu Xiaoer’s hand, his gaze fixed on the closed service window ahead.
"If you told her your father is Zhongli Yuting, I think even if there’s a system failure, these people would find a way to help us with the marriage registration."
Lu Xiaoer said.
Zhongli Wuzhi held Lu Xiaoer’s hand with both of his, his expression solemn and focused...
"I don’t want to use my privilege just to marry you."
"..."
"I just want to walk into the Civil Affairs Bureau with you, like all the others coming here to get married, take a number, stand in line, and wait our turn..."
Zhongli Wuzhi noticed her staring at him and turned his head,
"What’s wrong?"
"Do you know that on the night you were summoned to the President Mansion by Lili, I was there too."
Lu Xiaoer slowly said, then saw Zhongli Wuzhi’s expression change instantly.
"What? Feeling embarrassed now?"
Lu Xiaoer saw a hint of embarrassnt on his face, and couldn’t help but stretch her neck closer to his face, teasingly asking. Then even mimicking Zhongli Wuzhi’s tone, she whispered,
"That’s why I’ll marry her, I must marry her, then make her suffer!"
"..."
"She’s a princess of the United States, so I have my ways to take revenge! Aren’t I allowed?"
"..."
"She can hurt , but she was wrong... in hurting Lu Xiaoer."
"..."
Everything Zhongli Wuzhi had said that night was genuine and sothing he’d always been committed to, but hearing it now from Lu Xiaoer, it seed full of irony!
"You heard everything quite clearly..." Zhongli Wuzhi couldn’t really argue with Lu Xiaoer’s teasing, he just muttered quietly.
Lu Xiaoer was just joking.
She took Zhongli Wuzhi’s other hand, sitting slightly tilted so that both could face each other,
"That night, I was upstairs. Lili called there; of course, Lili didn’t expect you would say so much, she just wanted to give you, and , another chance."
"..."
"Wuzhi, when I t you, you were a reckless and handso man. I never thought there would be anyone in the world who could be with for life, let alone that it might be you."
"..."
"You are intelligent, feigning foolishness sotis, fickle yet deep. How can you be so contradictory?"
Lu Xiaoer’s eyes were sparkling clear,
"You could be so good to , yet be so cruel..."
"I’m sorry—"
"Don’t rush to apologize to ."
Lu Xiaoer lowered her gaze, looking at their intertwined hands, "I didn’t go to the United States but instead ran off to rush into a marriage, not to hear you say sorry."
