The lights in the guest room were mostly turned off, leaving only two dim wall lamps to barely illuminate the area on the bed.
Ann Vaughn’s waist-length hair was ssily spread over her shoulders, with a few strands sticking to her cheeks, making her already small face look even more petite. Her eyes sparkled like scattered stars, adorned with a beautiful dazzling light.
Probably having been under the covers for too long, her cheeks were flushed with a blush, rosy and alluring.
She snuggled up with a hum, instantly wrapping her arms around Cyrus Hawthorne’s lean waist, the fragrance emanating from her filling his entire mind in an instant.
Cyrus’s deep eyes, like the ocean, showed slight ripples as he raised his hand to smooth down her tangled hair and said softly, "When did you sneak over?"
"While you were still whispering with my dad in the study," Ann Vaughn said, finding a comfortable position in his arms. "What were you talking about? My dad didn’t make things difficult for you, did he?"
"No," Cyrus chuckled, placing a pillow behind her back. "He wanted to, but your photos defeated him."
"My photos??"
Cyrus gave a light nod, "Your father bragged to about the photos from when you were born to when you were two years old, so I told him I have photos of you from three till now."
Saying this, Cyrus chuckled low, "For the photos I have, your father had no choice but to abandon the idea of making things difficult for ."
What Cyrus didn’t say was that Stanley Sheridan’s look of envy and resentnt seed as if he wished he could bore a hole through him with his stare.
The photo album Stanley had cherished for most of his life wasn’t sothing he even easily showed to Elliot and the others.
But to exchange for Ann Vaughn’s past photos with Cyrus, Stanley practically gave up the album with a heavy heart.
Ann Vaughn looked at him in confusion for a long ti before blurting out, "How do you have photos of from three until now?"
She herself didn’t even have such a complete collection!
"Guess."
In the dim light, Cyrus’s finely carved features appeared even more profound, exuding a lazy aura unlike his usual stern deanor.
It made Ann Vaughn feel a slight itch in her heart.
She suddenly recalled the glass wall in his room at Cloudre Manor, displayed with things she used as a child.
It hadn’t seed much at the ti, but now thinking back, Ann Vaughn’s ears began to burn.
"Cyrus, do you have a collecting habit?" She lifted her head, placing her chin on his chest, and asked with a laugh.
Cyrus pinched her soft cheek, his Adam’s apple moving slightly, "Do you think just anyone qualifies for to put so much effort into all this?"
He simply didn’t want to miss out on anything related to her.
Ann Vaughn felt an even stronger itch, slightly pushing herself up, and gave him a peck on the corner of his lips before slowly moving to his thin lips...
Watching Ann Vaughn’s face bloom red like a sunset, the amusent in Cyrus’s eyes deepened. He held the back of her head to prevent her from getting tired by maintaining a single position for too long.
Eli Sheridan probably never imagined that he could guard against wolves eyeing his little cabbage...
But couldn’t prevent his own cabbage from running into the wolf’s mouth.
Truly a worldly hardship.
...
The next morning.
Cyrus had a video conference that had co up unexpectedly. After Ann Vaughn washed up, she left the room first, checked on Kenny, who was still sleeping in the children’s room, and then went downstairs alone.
It was still early, and the villa was enveloped in tranquility.
However, Ann Vaughn hadn’t enjoyed the tranquility for long before she was startled by barking coming from the living room.
The manor kept several trained bullmastiffs, but they were usually kept near the main and back gates and not easily allowed inside the villa.
Could it have snuck in?
Ann Vaughn ran towards the living room in her plush slippers and collided with a maid coming out.
She reached out to steady her, noticing her ssy bun, flushed forehead, and the maid’s dress ripped open in a big seam, only modesty preserved by her hand.
Ann Vaughn took off her jacket and tied it around the maid’s waist, "What happened inside? How did you end up like this?"
"Thank you, Miss Vaughn." The maid had red eyes, her gaze sowhat numbed. "Your uncle’s family ca to visit earlier, and in the living room now is their youngest son, Kevin Sheridan, twelve years old, with quite a lively personality."
Lively?
Ann Vaughn looked at the cut on the maid’s forehead from a sharp object and was almost amused with anger, "Twelve years old and acting so wild? Don’t his parents discipline him?"
"Young Master Hayden’s parents know, but they don’t really discipline him. We as servants aren’t in a good position to say much either..."
Ann Vaughn’s lips twitched. Is this what they an by every spoiled child has a pair of spoiled parents?
"You should go change first. Then find Uncle Vance and ask for two days off with pay, and get your wounds checked at the hospital."
"Thank you, Miss Vaughn, you are so kind!" The maid expressed her gratitude with a bow and left.
Ann Vaughn walked into the living room and imdiately spotted the little boy sitting on the sofa with his legs crossed, holding an ornant which he soon threw to the ground.
"What kind of crap is this? Such an ugly color, it’s hideous!"
"You can’t do that, Young Master Hayden. That’s one of our master’s favorite ornants..." The maid was at a loss, wanting to stop him but fearful of the Husky circling around him.
"Bunny!"
The Husky played wildly, scrambling and scratching throughout the living room, leaving a ss in its wake.
From the sofa to the carpet, to the decorations on the cabinets, nothing was spared from disaster.
Ann Vaughn knitted her delicate brows, crouching down to pick up the ornant broken in two.
"Good morning, Miss Vaughn," the maid greeted her imdiately, only to suddenly gasp in surprise the next mont.
A sharp "snip" sound ca abruptly from behind Ann Vaughn.
Ann Vaughn sensed sothing and imdiately turned around.
She saw that Kevin Sheridan, at so point, had crept up behind her, holding scissors and a tuft of freshly cut black hair, clapping in delight.
"You’re the young lady they talked about, right? This is a eting gift from this young master to you, no need to thank !"
He made a face at Ann Vaughn, full of smugness, then turned to run.
Ann Vaughn looked at her hair, which had been snipped to a gap, and felt a pang in her chest, her bright eyes gradually turning cold.
She directly grabbed Kevin Sheridan by the collar, pulling him back with force and pinning him down, then took the scissors from his hand, and without hesitation—
Kevin Sheridan’s thick hair began to lessen at a pace visible to the naked eye until even his scalp was visible!
"Cutting people’s hair is fun, huh?" Ann Vaughn held down the struggling, screaming Kevin Sheridan firmly and, with a snip, cut off his last tuft of hair, sneering, "Still want to play?"
