"Let smoke one more cigarette, even if it ans living one less day."
The Ford Family nearly died of anxiety over his words.
As long as they were watching, they weren’t afraid of Old Master Ford smoking, but what if they accidentally neglected to keep an eye on him one day?
That could be deadly!
Ann Vaughn smiled lightly at these words, "If you smoke one more cigarette, your family will worry about your health for another day, day after day, and perhaps before your health improves, theirs will deteriorate due to worry. Stress is the worst for one’s health."
She didn’t directly advise Old Master Ford to smoke less, but her words led him into deep reflection.
As he pondered, he found Ann Vaughn’s words quite reasonable.
"You, young lady, seem so young, not only skilled in dicine but also very good at understanding people." Old Master Ford looked at Ann Vaughn with a smile and asked, "How old are you this year? Still single? Do you want Grandpa to introduce you to a rich but silly boyfriend?"
Julian Ford standing nearby felt his scalp tingle, "Grandpa, don’t randomly play matchmaker, she’s..."
The one his brother would protect with his life.
Who would dare touch her?
Didn’t you see what happened to that Hugh Murray before he could do anything to Ann Vaughn...
"Thank you for your kindness, but I currently have no such thoughts." Ann Vaughn smiled faintly, politely declining Old Master Ford.
Old Master Ford glanced at his silly but wealthy grandson with regret and shook his head.
Julian Ford: ?? What are you mumbling to yourself in your head?
Upon receiving a ssage from Susie Somrs, Ann Vaughn knew the test results were out, so she excused herself from the ward and opened the ssage to check.
After reading the first ssage, the hidden tension and hope in Ann Vaughn’s eyes evaporated like drops of water under the sun.
[My friend said that from the residue inside the dicine bottle, they did detect the components of contraceptives. However, compared to the contraceptives on the market, this one has very mild side effects and poses no major harm to the human body.]
[...I’m at a loss whether to praise that bastard for having a shred of conscience or curse him as heartless! How could he make you take such things!]
Not just content with typing, Susie sent several voice ssages angrily rebuking Cyrus Hawthorne for his actions, clearly infuriated.
Yet, Ann Vaughn couldn’t hear a word, as her mind kept repeating the phrase "it is indeed a contraceptive," her eyes blank in a daze.
If there had been no expectations, perhaps the feeling of disappointnt wouldn’t be so unbearable.
Fortunately, she was almost getting used to this feeling of dashed hopes.
After sending a ssage back to Susie, Ann Vaughn dialed Sherry’s number: "Sherry, please help book two tickets to Marinia."
Sherry sighed, "Are you sure about this?"
"I don’t think I’ve ever been more sure." Ann Vaughn looked out at the overcast sky, her voice falling, "This ti when Kenny and I leave, we might not return so easily. Do you want to co along?"
At this mont, Julian Ford ca out of the ward and happened to hear Ann Vaughn’s words, his ears imdiately perked up.
"I don’t have much to hold back there, might as well stay at your clinic, make good use of the dical skills you taught ." Although Sherry hesitated, she decided to stay in The Imperial Capital.
Ann Vaughn did not push her, chatted a bit, and hung up, then headed back to her ward.
As soon as she left, Julian Ford, hiding behind the door, quickly phoned Cyrus Hawthorne.
As soon as the call connected, Julian Ford blurted out, "Bro, what exactly happened between you and sister-in-law? Why is she leaving again just after coming back to The Imperial Capital? She even said she won’t return in the next life!"
There was silence on the other end for a mont, and after a long pause, a man’s low, deep voice finally ca through: "It’s better for her to leave."
"But have you thought about the fact that if you really let sister-in-law go like that, you two might never get another chance." Julian Ford was worried sick, "And also, how long has it been since news of your divorce got out, and the Murray Family couldn’t wait to make a move on her."
"Once might not be the only ti, aren’t you worried at all about her future safety?"
The other end remained silent, with only the slight sound of paper being turned occasionally.
Julian Ford had to make another strong point: "Bro, Marinia has many talented young n, and sister-in-law is so beautiful and outstanding. There are plenty of n admiring her and wanting to pursue her, even my grandpa wants to introduce her to soone, if you don’t start paying attention..."
"Who did your grandpa introduce?" Cyrus Hawthorne asked faintly.
"." Julian Ford’s mouth slipped, and the words were out before he realized it.
By the ti he regretted it, it was too late.
"Heh." The coldness that seed to penetrate the screen from the other end was filled with a strong sense of threat: "The Third Ford, if you dare..."
Julian Ford was ranked third among the younger generation in the Ford Family, hence the nickna.
Julian Ford couldn’t help but feel like even Dolores wasn’t as wronged: "Bro, don’t worry, I cherish my life, my grandpa was just saying it casually, nothing serious."
Secretly he thought, he was just using an example and you got this jealous, still pretending not to care, who are you trying to fool?
"The way you ruthlessly push sister-in-law away again and again, if she really knew you didn’t have much ti left, she might not easily forgive what you did."
"I don’t need her forgiveness." Cyrus Hawthorne’s voice was extrely calm, showing no emotion.
Julian Ford chuckled, "We’ve grown up together; there are so things you can’t hide from . At the airport before, although sister-in-law insisted on leaving, it looked like you were mad at her, planning to cut ties completely."
"In fact, from that mont on, you had already calculated to completely push Ann Vaughn away from you. This way, if sothing happens to you, she would be the safest one, not to be hounded by the Hawthorne Family wolves."
"But in the end, she knows nothing. She is unaware of you risking yourself to test drugs, your impending death while still paving the future for her. I’ve sotis thought of just telling her everything."
"The Third Ford." Cyrus Hawthorne’s voice suddenly deepened, "This is the last warning, you are not to ntion a word of this to her."
Julian Ford sighed lengthily, nodding as if he was compromising, "Relax, I know the seriousness."
He just felt the injustice of it all.
There wasn’t any bla towards Ann Vaughn; her ignorance was due to his brother’s deliberate concealnt.
Since Cyrus Hawthorne was intent on hiding it, there was no way she would easily discover it.
But... Julian Ford just couldn’t stand seeing two people who loved each other being pushed to estrangent.
