Ann Vaughn left Keith Crawford’s room with her dical kit, and Chairman Crawford and his assistant imdiately approached her as she ca out.

"Dr. Vaughn, how is my son Keith doing?"

"He’s asleep," Ann Vaughn said with a sigh of relief. "He can’t eat for the next six hours. Just follow the prescription as before."

After giving these instructions, Ann Vaughn was about to leave, but Chairman Crawford stopped her.

Ann Vaughn frowned slightly in confusion as she looked at him. "Is there sothing else?"

"Dr. Vaughn, you’ve put so much effort into treating my son Keith, but last ti, due to our negligence and faults, you suffered greatly, and I really feel terrible about it."

Showing a guilty expression, Chairman Crawford shifted his tone, "However, I later found out that the reason Renee Crawford hard you was because her grandson was targeted by the Third Miss Sheridan. Although it was an act of desperation, it does not negate her cri..."

Seeing Ann Vaughn’s indifferent expression and her lack of response, Chairman Crawford decided to be direct. "Could you please speak a few kind words on behalf of us to Mr. Hawthorne and ask him to show rcy to the Crawford Family?"

No wonder.

Ann Vaughn was still wondering why soone with Chairman Crawford’s status and position would be so humble and accommodating to her.

It was because of Cyrus Hawthorne.

"Chairman Crawford, there seems to be a misunderstanding," Ann Vaughn’s eyes showed a hint of self-mockery. "The relationship between Mr. Hawthorne and is not even as good as that of strangers. I’m afraid you’ve asked the wrong person for this favor."

These days, she was struggling to protect herself, so how could she concern herself with those who Cyrus Hawthorne was targeting?

Moreover, for a prestigious family like the Crawford Family, it was alright to ask her, a traditional Chinese dicine doctor, for treatnt, but it was a different matter to ask for a favor.

Doesn’t he see how shrewd and calculating Cyrus Hawthorne is? Even she was deceived by his seemingly gentle and indulgent facade these days.

"Dr. Vaughn, just..." Chairman Crawford broke out in a sweat, trying to persuade her once more, but his assistant whispered, "Chairman, please think of the young master."

This sentence acted like a switch, completely deflating Chairman Crawford.

The Crawford Family’s enterprises were important, but if Keith wasn’t there to inherit them, he couldn’t take any assets with him after he passed.

Better not offend an excellent doctor in traditional Chinese dicine.

Especially a doctor who can treat cancer, which leaves countless doctors helpless.

After Ann Vaughn left, Chairman Crawford’s expression imdiately darkened, and he turned to ask his assistant, "Where did my wife go? Didn’t I tell her to stay ho today and not wander around?"

"Madam went to the Hawthorne Family with gifts this morning. I believe she wants to plead for the company’s matter with Mrs. Hawthorne," the assistant quickly replied.

Chairman Crawford’s expression eased sowhat, "At least she’s not completely clueless."

anwhile...

In the CEO’s office on the top floor of Hawthorne Group.

The snow outside the bright floor-to-ceiling windows had been falling all day, covering the whole world in a white blanket, and the cold wind blew, gently swirling the snowflakes past.

Light steam rose from the coffee cup on the marble desk, shrouding the elegant figure sitting behind it in a misty aura, giving an air of mystery.

"The Sheridan Family is willing to transfer three percent of their shares in The Sheridan Group in exchange for a person?" The man’s voice was indifferent as he absentmindedly read the words on the docunt. "Interesting."

"The Sheridan Family is going to great lengths to save Cynthia Sheridan from prison, and I understand that. But giving away three percent of their shares? They must be crazy," Mark Joyce said, sowhat puzzled.

One could either say that the Sheridan Family cherishes Cynthia Sheridan too much, or that they are too arrogant.

This three percent of shares from another company wouldn’t raise any eyebrows, and Hawthorne wouldn’t even bother taking a second glance.

But this was from The Sheridan Group, shares that couldn’t even be bought for a billion, mostly held by the Sheridan Family or their trusted affiliates.

Giving these shares to soone else was one thing, but giving them to Cyrus Hawthorne was like leaving a ticking ti bomb with The Sheridan Group.

That’s why Mark Joyce thought the Sheridan Family must be out of their minds.

"They aren’t crazy; they have other motives," Cyrus Hawthorne squinted his dark eyes, drumming his long fingers on the desk a few tis, then instructed, "Re-investigate the Sheridan Family’s background. I want every detail."

"I anticipated you might need this and had soone look into it beforehand," Mark Joyce said, pulling up a page on his tablet and handing it to Cyrus Hawthorne. "Take a look, please."

"The information here is different from what we previously found, and it seems quite... unbelievable."

Indeed, it was unbelievable.

Cyrus Hawthorne’s eyes scanned past the basic information until they settled on a passage marked with a red dot. His thin lips suddenly curved slightly.

"The rmaid Princess? The Sheridan Family truly lives up to their ancient heritage."

"Ancient heritage?" Mark Joyce was about to ask more when the phone on the desk suddenly rang, and he imdiately fell silent.

After glancing at the number on the screen, Cyrus Hawthorne furrowed his brows slightly before picking up, "Mother."

"Cian, last night, Attorney Chambers accidentally called you and said sothing wrong. It was all a misunderstanding; I didn’t an it. And about the Crawford Family..."

Upon hearing this, Cyrus Hawthorne’s expression remained unchanged, but a sharp glint passed through his narrow eyes, "Was it really a misunderstanding?"

Laura Quinn sighed heavily, speaking earnestly, "I’m doing this for your own good. That child is a Hawthorne descendant. He can’t be left outside, we have to bring him into the family, or what would that look like?"

Thus, the doubts about Ann Vaughn’s unusual behavior last night were also resolved.

Cyrus Hawthorne took a sip of his coffee before saying calmly, "There’s sothing I forgot to inform you about earlier."

"Wha-what is it?"

"Ann and I haven’t divorced; legally, we’re still married," Cyrus Hawthorne’s usually stern and sharp face softened slightly as he spoke. "So, there’s no issue with a Hawthorne descendent being out of the family."

"What did you say?!"

A sudden noise ca from the other end, with the sound of a tea cup accidentally knocked off the table and crashing to the floor, along with Laura Quinn’s piercing voice of shock, "Are you joking with ?!"

"Do you really think I have ti to joke with you," Cyrus Hawthorne responded calmly.

Hearing this reply, Laura Quinn entirely lost hope, her hand trembling as she held the phone.

If Cyrus Hawthorne and Ann Vaughn hadn’t divorced, then all the effort she spent searching for evidence against Ann Vaughn had been in vain!

She really did raise a good son!

To strike her so devastatingly at such a mont!

Laura Quinn’s face turned pale, her breath growing more labored, and she stumbled back into the sofa, her vision darkening.

She didn’t believe it; the woman who everyone praised as virtuous and wise in the past was driven to death by her hands, so why couldn’t she deal with a re Ann Vaughn?!
