Daniel stared at her seductive expression. His body heated up, and he felt his blood start to burn even hotter.

What kind of sin have I committed to not even be able to touch my own wife?

"I know you miss . I’ll be back soon."

"Alright then, I’ll see you when you co back."

Chantelle deliberately gave him a flirtatious look before ending the video call.

Deep down, she thought she wouldn’t care about anything related to Daniel, but she kept rembering how he never explained the woman living in his house. It bothered her.

The pancakes ended up being a complete failure. Chantelle ordered a lot of good food for the children, had dinner with them, and then she headed to the Wilson mansion.

Daniel kept contacting her while she was on the road. When she didn’t reply, he started calling. He would have kept calling endlessly until she answered.

Chantelle was worried her phone battery would die if he continued, so she finally picked up his call. She was just about to speak when soone suddenly rushed out in front of her car.

She swerved the steering wheel and barely avoided hitting him.

"Are you okay?"

Chantelle got out of the car. She walked over to him to check on him.

The man looked to be in his thirties. His back was facing Chantelle as he curled up on the ground. He seed to be in a lot of pain.

But Chantelle knew she hadn’t hit him. At most, he had been startled, tripped, and fallen. Was he trying to pretend to be injured to scam her?

Chantelle didn’t have ti for sothing like this. She called Calvin to co over.

"Chantie..."

A familiar voice reached her ears. When the man on the ground lifted his head, revealing a ssy and worn-out face, Chantelle couldn’t believe what she was seeing.

"Joseph?"

"Quick, co with ."

Joseph struggled to his feet and tried to move toward a nearby alley.

Looking at him, Chantelle figured soone must have been chasing him. After hesitating for a mont, she helped him into her car.

Joseph leaned back in the passenger seat, breathing hard. He smiled and asked, "Why did you save ?"

"Do you think I wanted to save you? If it weren’t for Master’s rule that we can’t leave a fellow disciple to die, I would have run you over," Chantelle replied unhappily.

"Isn’t there more to it? You want to know more about your parents, don’t you?"

Joseph, who looked like a yandere beauty, leaned against the car window with his head resting on his right hand.

But Chantelle had no interest in any of his tricks or his appearance.

Joseph slowly lowered his hand, feeling a little defeated by his failed attempt.

"Anyway, will you tell the truth if I save your life?" Chantelle raised an eyebrow and asked.

Joseph shook his head and smiled. "If I tell you, you won’t take care of anymore."

Chantelle cursed inwardly, "You sly old fox!"

"I’m only two years older than you, Chantie. I don’t look that old."

"Hmph!"

Chantelle did not take Joseph back to Western Hill Villa. Instead, she handed him over to Calvin. The two t halfway, as Calvin had already been rushing to her location.

Joseph complained unwillingly, "You can’t treat like this, Chantie. I’m your dearest Jo. Do you still rember what our Master told you?"

Chantelle replied sarcastically, "Master said I have to bring you back even if I have to cripple you, as long as you’re still breathing."

"Master is ruthless."

Joseph protested, but Calvin still forced him into the car.

As soon as the engine started, Joseph tossed a lucky charm out of the car window.

The white crystal was clear and translucent. There were patterns inside, but Chantelle couldn’t see them clearly due to the poor lighting. The crystal was smooth, and the chain looked worn, so it seed to be quite old.

"Wear it. It’s for protection," Joseph said casually from inside the car.

Chantelle stared at the lucky charm for a while. Then she put it around her neck on impulse. After wearing it, she felt oddly calm, as if the charm had always belonged to her.

It was almost midnight when Chantelle arrived at the Wilson mansion. As soon as her car stopped in front of the mansion, the front door opened from inside.

"Welco ho, Mrs. Wilson." The butler and servants stood in two neat rows and bowed to her respectfully.

"Mr. Charles, how did you know I was coming?"

Chantelle stepped out of the car and helped Mr. Charles straighten up.

With a courteous smile, Mr. Charles looked at Chantelle the way an elder would look at a mber of his own family. He said, "I just happened to be awake. I saw your car on the surveillance cara, so I ca out to welco you."

Chantelle found it hard to believe he was still awake at this hour. And this kind of welco was far too grand. How was she supposed to secretly retrieve sothing from Daniel’s study now?

"Kane said he left a toy here. He asked to get it for him," Chantelle said casually.

Mr. Charles imdiately called to the servants, "Everyone, pay attention. We need to help Mrs. Wilson find the toy."

Chantelle quickly declined. "I’m fine. It’s late. Everyone should go to bed. I can find it myself. There’s no need to make a big deal out of it. Also, please don’t ntion to Mr. Wilson that I ca here."

Mr. Charles hesitated for a mont before looking into her eyes.

Chantelle continued, "Daniel doesn’t like others entering his room, and I can find it on my own."

"Just ring the bell if you need anything, Mrs. Wilson. We’ll wait outside."

"Don’t wait for . Everyone should go to bed. I won’t dare co back if you keep acting like this."

Chantelle was tired of trying to persuade him. She had no choice but to act a little cute so Mr. Charles would stop insisting on waiting outside.

Mr. Charles relented. "Alright, alright. We won’t disturb Mrs. Wilson. Please visit more often. Sir looks forward to your visits every day."

The old butler seed afraid she would stop coming. He quickly told the servants to return to their rooms. He looked at Chantelle reluctantly, then followed her wishes and went back to his own room.

Chantelle finally let out a breath of relief once the bright lights in the house were turned off.

She tiptoed to Daniel’s study. The door had a fingerprint lock. When she placed her finger on the handle, it unlocked at once. She didn’t know when Daniel had registered her fingerprint.
