"Confird." Fu Shinian t Su Mu’s gaze without showing weakness: "I was aware of you visiting Wen Han’s mother in the hospital, and in fact, I had agreed to it from the beginning. So what is there for to care about? Do you think that while pretending to be magnanimous in letting you go, I still want to know every last detail of what you talked about?"
Su Mu nodded:
"Yeah, I thought you wanted to know. After all, you seed unhappy the last ti we talked on the phone."
Fu Shinian didn’t want to admit it:
"I wasn’t unhappy."
"Really? Actually, Wen Han and his mother were going to keep for dinner. If I’d known you truly didn’t mind, I would have stayed."
Fu Shinian’s hand on Su Mu’s waist hesitated for a mont, a small gesture that made Su Mu smile slightly:
"What’s wrong?"
Fu Shinian squinted slightly at Su Mu: "I’m thinking, maybe I’ve been too lenient with you?"
"Or what? How do you want to treat ? Aren’t you afraid I’ll leave with Qiqi?"
Fu Shinian looked at her for a few seconds, sighed resignedly, and kept on attending to her. "Yes, I am afraid of you. You have completely under control in this lifeti. If you say ’one,’ I wouldn’t dare say ’two.’ If you say ’go west,’ I would never go east, how about that?"
"Hmm, quite satisfactory."
Three years ago, Su Mu would never have imagined that one day she and Fu Shinian would interact like this, being cherished and placed on a pedestal, turned into a princess and a child in the minutiae of everyday life.
If soone had told her this before, Su Mu might have thought they were insane. Even though she’s in the midst of it now, it still feels like a dreamlike illusion.
Perhaps Fu Shinian really didn’t want to know what happened in the hospital, but whether Fu Shinian wants to know is one thing, and whether Su Mu tells him is another. Moreover, from the beginning, she had no intention of keeping it a secret from Fu Shinian. Thus, she began to speak:
"Before I saw Wen Han’s mother today, I knew she wasn’t in good health, but I didn’t expect it to be so bad. She has beco so emaciated, hasn’t eaten for several days, and is relying on nutrient solutions to sustain life."
Fu Shinian frowned slightly, but said nothing.
"The doctor said she has severe depression and anorexia, subconsciously not wanting to live, just not choosing a direct thod like suicide. Her ntal state isn’t good, her mory is also disordered. She grabbed my hand, still thinking that Wen Han and I hadn’t broken up, and asked when we were getting married."
This ti, there was no pause in Fu Shinian’s movents, but instead they beca sowhat heavier. Su Mu almost couldn’t help but cry out and she turned to glare at him. Fu Shinian showed no sign of apology, as if he deliberately wanted to make Su Mu feel pain. He t Su Mu’s unhappy gaze and said indifferently:
"Rather than what they said, I’m more interested in how you responded."
Fu Shinian’s words made Su Mu smile slightly, leaning on her arms while looking at him:
"Didn’t you say you didn’t want to know just now?"
"Yeah." Fu Shinian admitted openly: "Just now, I didn’t expect them to say such excessive and shaless things, so I urgently want to know how you replied."
Su Mu looked at him:
"I didn’t say anything."
Fu Shinian frowned.
Su Mu smiled: "Wen Han said it himself, he said we had already broken up a while ago, and he also reminded his mother not to say things that make feel uncomfortable."
Fu Shinian’s face looked much better, he responded lightly:
"He’s still a man, after all."
Su Mu raised an eyebrow and continued: "But his mother then asked if I could get back together with Wen Han."
Fu Shinian’s movents ca to a halt, he didn’t speak, and just stood there, facing off with Su Mu for a few seconds. Seeing her playful expression the whole ti, Fu Shinian eventually couldn’t restrain himself anymore. He picked her up from the sofa, but then he changed position after lifting her, he hoisted her over his shoulder.
Su Mu was startled, but then she rembered that Qiqi was still sleeping, so she suppressed her voice until Fu Shinian had carried her out of the master bedroom. It was then that Su Mu began to pat his back and speak:
"Fu Shinian, put down, you promised you wouldn’t touch ."
The force of Su Mu’s patting was no different from tickling for Fu Shinian, but since she was causing a fuss, Fu Shinian had to play along. So, he gave her bottom a pat, and Su Mu, probably not expecting Fu Shinian to make such a move, quieted down quite a bit.
"Susu, indeed I wanted to let you off tonight, but you’ve been far too naughty."
As he finished that phrase, Fu Shinian had already carried Su Mu into the guest room. Su Mu inwardly cursed, she hadn’t managed to plead for rcy before Fu Shinian threw her onto the large bed. The force wasn’t gentle, but luckily, the bed was soft enough, and she only felt a mont of dizziness without any other discomfort.
Once Su Mu got over the dizziness, Fu Shinian had already stood by the bed and removed his pajamas. When Su Mu opened her mouth to speak, Fu Shinian made a silencing gesture. Su Mu was bewilderingly entranced by this move, so much so that she forgot what she was about to say.
She heard Fu Shinian’s voice:
"Save your energy, you’ll have your chance to speak later."
Su Mu saw the determination in Fu Shinian, knowing that anything she said wouldn’t change his mind. So she laid back down on the bed, adopting a look of resigned acceptance, which in turn made Fu Shinian chuckle. He gently climbed onto the bed, propped above Su Mu, looking down at her with a smile in his eyes:
"Is this your passive resistance?"
"Hmm, you wouldn’t pity anyway, right?"
"Susu," he wrapped a strand of hair around her ear with his index finger, his tone tender and feigned innocence, "I did want to let you off the hook, you brought this upon yourself."
Su Mu didn’t bother with him, simply snorted lightly:
"Stop beating around the bush. If you’re going to do it, just do it, no need for pointless words."
Fu Shinian cracked a slight smile:
"I’m on it, don’t be impatient."
Although Fu Shinian did have his way that evening, he was still mindful of Su Mu’s discomfort, so he was very gentle from beginning to end, and it didn’t last for too long. Afterward, when helping Su Mu wash up, Su Mu suddenly rembered sothing she hadn’t had the chance to discuss with Fu Shinian and brought it up:
"Today I told Wen Han that if Shaoyuan is willing, we could let him stay at Gui Ning Residence for so ti. He’s been really stretched thin recently, not able to take proper care of things, what do you think?"
Fu Shinian looked at her, her eyelids fighting to stay open from exhaustion, and couldn’t bear it. He kissed her forehead and said:
"Whatever you decide is fine."
