The buyer had made a swift decision after a round in the room and asked Su Mu when she could move out.
Su Mu hadn’t expected things to proceed so smoothly and gave a faint smile:
"I heard that you’re planning to give this apartnt as a birthday gift to your daughter. Since it’s a gift, I wouldn’t want to delay you. Although I still need to stay in Jiangcheng City for a while, since you’ve decided to buy, I will move out as soon as possible. I’ll contact the moving company tomorrow, and I’ll hand over the keys to you the day after tomorrow at the latest, and complete the procedures."
The buyer seed satisfied, nodded without any objection, and pulled out a card from their bag and handed it over to Su Mu:
"Here is 500,000, as a deposit. Once you accept this deposit, there’s no backing out."
Su Mu gave a faint smile:
"Alright, I’ll write you a receipt."
"No need," the buyer stepped towards the door. "You don’t look like a scamr, I trust you."
After saying this, they left. The real estate agent hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly either and hurried after the buyer without even exchanging pleasantries with Su Mu. Su Mu stood there alone, looking at the card in her hand and then around the ho she had lived in for two years, truly feeling a bit reluctant to leave. After all, all her mories with Qiqi were made here.
Fu Shinian appeared at the door unexpectedly:
"Reluctant to leave?"
Su Mu ca back to her senses and looked at Fu Shinian, shaking her head slightly: "There’s nothing to be reluctant about. Qiqi will be just as happy in Shen City."
"I just heard you say you’re moving tomorrow?"
"Yes, the buyer is eager to give the house as a gift to his daughter. It wouldn’t be right to make them wait until I leave Shen City."
"Where will you stay these next few days?"
"Hotel."
Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds when Qiqi, who had quietly appeared, questioned: "Why stay at a hotel? Fu Shinian’s place is right opposite. Can’t we just move in there?"
Su Mu: "...You can stay here."
Qiqi huffed dismissively and went straight back to Fu Shinian’s house. Su Mu shook her head helplessly without saying more, while Fu Shinian smiled softly: "Actually, I think Qiqi has a point."
"You’re dreaming," Su Mu said defensively, eyeing Fu Shinian. "Don’t think I don’t know what you’re up to."
"Since you know, do you think hiding in a hotel would prevent from finding you?" Fu Shinian looked at her. "You should have known long ago that evasion is useless; continuously hiding would still not change the final outco. If I were you, I’d learn to accept it sooner."
Su Mu took a deep breath to suppress her urge to lash out:
"If I rember correctly, you also deeply despise infidelity. No matter what, I am currently Wen Han’s girlfriend. Wouldn’t anything happening between us be betrayal? You dislike betrayal, would Wen Han like it? In human conduct, one should avoid imposing on others what one dislikes. Surely you understand that concept."
"I understand," Fu Shinian smiled faintly: "If it bothers you, I promise not to let you carry the label of a betrayer before you break up with Wen Han. How about that?"
"Do you think I would believe you?"
Fu Shinian chuckled:
"According to your logic, we wouldn’t need to wait then, would we? Since my credit with you is zero, it doesn’t make much difference whether I do anything or not, right?"
Su Mu glared at him and stopped talking. Fu Shinian walked inside and stood beside her:
"You have quite a few things here. It might be inconvenient if you move to a hotel. Why not move to my place instead, you can sort things out gradually. How about that?"
Su Mu ignored Fu Shinian, pulled out her phone, and started booking a room in a nearby hotel but was shocked to find it fully booked. The apologetic response on the other end explained that a pet expo was being held nearby and rooms had been booked a month in advance. Su Mu, undeterred, called several more hotels, only to receive the sa response.
Fu Shinian sat on the living room couch, silently watching her until she finally gave up, then spoke:
"Su Mu, it seems even the heavens are helping ."
"I’ll move my things over there; I’ll stay in the studio."
Fu Shinian didn’t respond, nor did he object, which felt sowhat unusual to Su Mu.
Since all her belongings were being moved to Fu Shinian’s apartnt, there was no need to hire movers. After Qiqi fell asleep, Su Mu started packing so things. Soon her phone buzzed; it was a ssage from Fu Shinian:
"Are you asleep?"
Su Mu tossed her phone aside without replying. Monts later, Fu Shinian called, repeating the sa question:
"Are you asleep?"
Su Mu gritted her teeth: "I’m asleep."
"Open the door."
"I said I’m already asleep."
Fu Shinian hung up, and Su Mu looked at her phone, puzzled but not overly concerned, until there was a noise at the door and Fu Shinian appeared the next second in front of her. Su Mu was shocked, rembering how he had entered so silently in the afternoon. She had been too tired to ask him how he had co in. Now, seeing his composed deanor, she asked:
"How do you have a key?"
Fu Shinian smiled faintly: "Qiqi gave it to ."
"That traitor."
"How can she be a traitor? All of Qiqi’s actions are just hoping her mom and dad can be together."
Su Mu gave a perfunctory laugh and dropped the subject:
"It’s late, don’t you think it’s inconvenient for you to show up here?"
"I don’t think so. I guessed you would be packing, so I ca to help. I think it’s quite tily."
"I don’t need it."
"Whether you need it is your business, but it would be wrong of to see you struggling and not help."
Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian and coldly chuckled:
"I’ve known you for many years, and this is the first ti I realize that you could be so shaless."
"Really?" Fu Shinian smiled faintly: "Doing sothing for the woman I like makes happy."
Su Mu’s packing halted at Fu Shinian’s words. Since their reunion, he indeed had made many efforts to pursue her, causing her so trouble, yet he had never openly admitted his affections. This had led Su Mu to believe that Fu Shinian’s actions were all for the sake of Qiqi.
But now he was saying that she was the woman he liked, leaving Su Mu sowhat at a loss.
She had thought that Fu Shinian would never fall for anyone. She had spent two years failing to reach his heart—so who else could he possibly value? Perhaps such a person didn’t exist. Yet, unexpectedly, it was her.
