For Su Mu, Lin Ning’s sudden appearance that afternoon was a bit unexpected:
"Su Mu, didn’t you say you wouldn’t co until tomorrow?"
Su Mu, exhausted, pinched the bridge of her nose, "I had nothing to do today, so I ca early."
Lin Ning already knew about Su Mu’s plan to relocate her studio to Shen City and they had communicated the basics over the phone. Seeing her now, Lin Ning spoke up, "I’ve nearly asked everyone’s opinion; those from out of town are willing to move to Shen City, but those local few are not very keen on moving. I reckon they won’t go."
Su Mu nodded,
"I’m prepared for that; after all, it was a sudden decision. I won’t force anyone. I’ll still provide the usual benefits, so no one needs to worry. Finish up the current local shooting tasks in Jiangcheng City in the next few days. After that, don’t take any more cases. Decorating in Shen City will still take a month. I might head back to Shen City in a couple of days, and I’ll leave things here in your hands until then."
"Alright, Su Mu, don’t worry, I’ll handle everything."
Su Mu responded,
"There’s nothing else; you can go get busy. At four o’clock, let everyone know to have a eting concerning the move to Shen City."
"Okay."
After Lin Ning left, Su Mu checked her email for the schedule. There were still two shoots in Jiangcheng City, both indoor celebrity photoshoots that could be completed in four days. She wasn’t worried, but what did concern her was a shoot in the Maldives scheduled in half a month.
That afternoon, Su Mu’s work efficiency wasn’t very high. She found once again that she was influenced by Fu Shinian, to the extent that aside from listing her Jiangcheng City house for sale, she didn’t manage to complete anything else, her mind full of the words and actions of Fu Shinian that left her in turmoil.
By four o’clock, when Lin Ning ca up to notify her of the eting, she snapped back to reality, freshened up in the restroom, and then headed to the eting room. The eting lasted an hour and the outco was much like what Lin Ning had ntioned: so were willing to move to Shen City, and so were not. However, the results were much better than Su Mu had expected, with no major changes to the team, which would reduce a lot of potential hassle for her future work.
What Su Mu did not expect was that her house would find a buyer so quickly. When she received the call from the realtor, she was sowhat skeptical:
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, after I sent over the floor plan and a few pictures you provided, the other party liked it a lot. He said it was for his daughter. The decor style also matches his daughter’s taste, so he wants to finalize it quickly because his daughter’s birthday is in two days, and he wants to give it as a birthday gift."
Su Mu paused for a few seconds:
"I didn’t expect it to be so quick. I haven’t packed many of my things, so it might be inconvenient if the interested party wants to view the house today."
"There’s no inconvenience. They just want to see if it matches the pictures. As for packing, if they decide, you still have two days to pack. I just think if we pass up this chance, we might not get another one like this. The buyer isn’t short on money and can pay in full."
Su Mu hesitated a mont:
"Alright, then bring them over around 7 PM."
After finalizing details with the realtor, Su Mu left the studio and drove back to her apartnt. She had planned to stop by the supermarket to pick up so ingredients to cook for Qiqi, but before she even parked, she saw Fu Shinian and Qiqi playing on the slide at the small plaza at the entrance of the apartnt complex.
To be honest, Fu Shinian’s way of interacting with Qiqi was a bit too down-to-earth, a side of him Su Mu could never have imagined before. She rembered him as aloof and unapproachable, so she couldn’t help but stop the car by the roadside to watch them a bit longer. It had to be said, Qiqi had beco braver and more joyful since spending ti with Fu Shinian.
Qiqi was the first to spot Su Mu and ran over when she got off the slide with Fu Shinian cautiously following behind to ensure she didn’t fall. Su Mu got out of the car, and Qiqi imdiately hugged her legs:
"Su Mu, I missed you so much."
Su Mu bent down to lift Qiqi into her arms:
"I missed you too."
It was then that Fu Shinian walked over, smiling at the mother and daughter, "Qiqi said she wanted to co out and et you after work."
Su Mu did not look at Fu Shinian, simply responded lightly, and took Qiqi to the car. Fu Shinian could tell that Su Mu was still angry, so he rely smiled and didn’t get into the car. Instead, Qiqi rolled down the window and looked out at Fu Shinian, puzzled:
"Fu Shinian, why aren’t you coming with us?"
"Su Mu wouldn’t want in the car." Fu Shinian glanced at Su Mu with a slight smile, "You go ahead. I’ll go to the supermarket and cook for you."
Qiqi grinned:
"Then I want salt-baked shrimp."
"Sure."
Su Mu looked back at Fu Shinian through the rearview mirror. He was still the sa man in a suit, decisive in his actions, but different in how he changed his approach, not just as a superior but as a father and a man.
If Su Mu had seen this change in Fu Shinian three years ago, she probably would have laughed herself awake from a dream. But now, her mindset had long since changed.
When Su Mu got ho and changed her clothes, Fu Shinian knocked on the door. Su Mu walked over to open it but did not let Fu Shinian in. He stood at the doorstep with a small smile:
"I really just want to co in and cook for you."
Su Mu paused for a few seconds:
"Go to your place. Soone is coming to view the house soon."
Fu Shinian raised an eyebrow slightly, "So soon?"
Su Mu looked at him skeptically:
"Quick or not, Mr. Fu, don’t you know?"
"What do you an? Do you think I arranged the buyer?" Fu Shinian chuckled, "Su Mu, I wouldn’t be that bored. You’re leaving and won’t co back. What use would buying this house be to ? To invest and wait for its value to increase?"
That afternoon, right after receiving the call, Su Mu had first thought of Fu Shinian, but seeing how he was now, she felt perhaps she was overthinking. But Su Mu didn’t want to guess any further; her goal was to sell the house. Regarding who was buying, she wasn’t particularly concerned.
No sooner had they finished eating than the realtor arrived with the prospective buyer. From his appearance, one could tell he was indeed from a wealthy family—stout, with a thick gold chain around his neck and green gemstone rings on his fingers. Overall, he looked very affluent from the inside out.
Seeing the buyer, Su Mu believed there truly was no connection with Fu Shinian.
