"Just a woman who climbed up by making deals, my brother was just playing with you."

"He played with for two years and still wasn’t tired of it, how great must my charm be for Shinian to be so reluctant to leave ?"

In Su Shiyue’s mory, Su Mu had always been subservient, trying to please everyone in the Fu family. It was the first ti she saw her sharp-tongued like this, and she couldn’t help but be taken aback:

"You ... how can you be so shaless?"

Upon hearing this, Su Mu smiled gently and stepped closer:

"If I’m considered shaless, then what are you? When you had soone rob , wanting to be ruined, did you ever look in the mirror and see yourself?"

Su Shiyue wasn’t surprised that she knew about the past, and she wasn’t the type to deny her actions. She chuckled lightly:

"I don’t care about what I look like. What I care about is when you will wisely leave the Fu family! I just regret that last ti I chose a wimp that let you slip through the catastrophe, but next ti you won’t be so lucky. I refuse to believe you’ll be lucky every ti!"

Su Mu listened as if she had heard a funny joke, looking at Su Shiyue with a hint of pity in her eyes:

"You dare? I rember Shinian telling that last ti he slapped you, that was the first ti he hit you, right? It must have seed unbelievable to you, but that’s the truth. If he could strike you once for , then there will be a second ti, and maybe next ti, it will be more unbelievable than you can imagine."

Su Shiyue had always dominated Su Mu, who never dared to talk back, but the Su Mu who left the old residence was bold enough to threaten her using Shinian. If she had known, she would have never co here to endure this humiliation.

No, Su Shiyue suddenly rembered the reason she had co to Bishui Yuntian; she had been confused by Su Mu’s words and had forgotten that she still had a trump card up her sleeve.

Thinking of this, Su Shiyue smirked:

"Didn’t you just ask why I ca? I certainly didn’t co to see you. My brother and I had already agreed to go sowhere today. Would you like to know where?"

Su Mu looked at her, silent, because Su Shiyue was not the type to care about her wishes on whether to speak or not. If she guessed right, their next destination probably involved Qin Nianwan; only Qin Nianwan could make Su Shiyue so smug in front of her.

"Today is Sister Nianwan’s ’Star Creation 100’ finale, and my brother and I are going there to cheer for her."

Su Shiyue expected to see a saddened face on Su Mu, but she remained calm throughout, as if Su Shiyue was talking about sothing completely irrelevant to her.

"A rigged champion still needs your encouragent? How lacking in audience must she be?"

After finishing her sentence, Su Mu walked upstairs. She felt that she had already wasted too much ti with Miss Su Shiyue.

But Su Shiyue still wouldn’t give up and called out from behind:

"After the finale, the three of us are going to celebrate. Do you think I should find an excuse to leave, to give them a chance to be alone?"

Su Mu stopped walking. Su Shiyue thought she was angry and was just about to mock her again when soone slowly descended the stairs, causing Su Shiyue to imdiately fall silent, too frightened to even breathe.

Su Mu looked at Fu Shinian, not knowing when he had appeared or how long he had been listening.

Fu Shinian also looked at Su Mu, his expression inquisitive as he stepped closer and whispered, audible only to the two of them:

"Am I reluctant to leave you?"

Su Mu averted her gaze; he had indeed heard everything. The chairman of Fu Corporation, who usually wouldn’t eavesdrop, apparently had this bad habit.

Expecting him to speak harshly to her—as he had been indifferent and dismissive these past days—she was surprised when he simply walked past her toward Su Shiyue.

As Fu Shinian walked toward her, Su Shiyue instinctively stepped back several paces, but rembering that Su Mu was watching, she stifled her fear. Despite him being her close relative, she was terrified of him.

"Brother..." Su Shiyue called out, trying to ingratiate herself.

Fu Shinian chuckled softly:

"Don’t you rember what I told you last ti?"

"Brother, it was just sothing I said offhand."

"It’s better if it was just offhand. If I find out you’re scheming again, and you can’t control your own actions, I’ll control them for you!"

Su Shiyue’s eyes welled with tears. She felt aggrieved. It was one thing to be strictly disciplined by him, but to be lectured so sternly in front of the person she disliked most was more than she could swallow. She wanted to retort, but the look in Fu Shinian’s eyes left her speechless.

Once they had left, the spacious living room felt suddenly empty. Intent on not dwelling on Fu Shinian’s upcoming eting with Qin Nianwan, Su Mu decided to invite Jiang Bei for dinner. Fortunately, Jiang Bei was off duty today, and they both agreed imdiately.

The ti was still early, so Su Mu and Jiang Bei decided to go shopping first, but as soone in debt, Su Mu only window-shopped. Jiang Bei teased her a few tis, and she just laughed it off, ignoring her until Su Mu’s phone rang.

It was one of the companies where she had sent her resu, asking if she was available for an interview tomorrow. Su Mu set up an appointnt and prepared to go the next day.

When the phone call ended, Su Mu realized Jiang Bei, who had been browsing clothes all along, was standing behind her. Before Su Mu could express her surprise, Jiang Bei imdiately asked:

"Did you resign?"

"Yeah, it’s been almost 2 months now."

Su Mu had resigned two months ago but had not told Jiang Bei, firstly because she didn’t feel it was necessary, and secondly because Jiang Bei’s ergency departnt was always so busy that Su Mu preferred not to trouble her with personal matters.

"What the heck! You resigned two months ago and I’m only finding out now?" Jiang Bei was furious, "I’ve always considered you a friend. I tell you everything, and you didn’t even ntion such a big thing?"

Su Mu hurriedly tried to calm her:

"It’s not really a big deal, just a job."

"But I’m soone who even tells you when I have my period. You doing this could hurt ."

Su Mu couldn’t help but laugh and assured her:

"It won’t happen again, I promise."

"If it happens again, you’re dead." Jiang Bei jokingly raised her fist as a threat but eventually just laughed, "But you were doing so well, why did you resign?"

Perhaps Su Mu felt the need to confide today – the two found a cold drink shop, and Su Mu briefly explained the past two months’ events to Jiang Bei, who, as expected, flew into a rage:

"Is Wei Shaoqin an idiot? What era is he living in to still behave so shalessly? Is he even a man? Does he think he’s in so naive TV drama where all won fall for his nonsense? He must think he’s living in ancient tis, right?"

Su Mu noticed many people were looking their way and quickly pulled Jiang Bei back to her seat:

"Calm down a bit."

"I can’t calm down."

Su Mu couldn’t help but smile, feeling a warm stream in her heart. Having a true friend who worries about your troubles and gets angry about the injustices you face is indeed the luckiest thing in the world.

"I’m pretty calm now, but I might not be able to pay you back the money I owe you anyti soon."

"Why ntion that? I don’t need the money. Take your ti finding a job, just make sure it’s not as taxing as the last one. I almost died of heartache hearing about it. And don’t worry about your mother’s nursing ho fees, I could support you both if needed, as I am quite the little rich girl."

Su Mu smiled gratefully, "I love you, Xiaobei."

Jiang Bei looked at her with disdain, "Ew, so cheesy."

There was a brief silence between them as Jiang Bei, chewing on her bubble tea straw, seed deep in thought. Su Mu didn’t disturb her, until Jiang Bei suddenly slapped the table excitedly, startling Su Mu:

"What’s wrong?"

"I’ve got it! There’s a job that Wei Shaoqin would never dare trouble you over. He wouldn’t have the guts."

Su Mu was puzzled, "What job?"

"My aunt’s grandson has been looking for a tutor. You know she married a military officer and lives in the Military Region Compound. These big business bosses, no matter how arrogant, wouldn’t dare to offend soone from the governnt sphere. I’ll recomnd you to tutor for their family."

"Would that be alright?"

"Why not? It’s just a five-year-old kid, and you are a true academic. Rember the tis in school when you often explained problems to our classmates? Handling a little kid will be more than manageable for you."

Without giving Su Mu a chance to refuse, Jiang Bei promptly called her aunt. Learning that the child’s father had just returned from the army for a holiday, she decided on the spot to arrange a dinner eting that evening. Seeing Jiang Bei decisively arranging everything felt almost surreal to Su Mu.

However, Jiang Bei was not wrong, even if Wei Shaoqin was incredibly capable, there are places he can’t reach. If the job Jiang Bei had lined up could indeed offer her so stability for the ti being, it might not be such a bad thing after all.

But Su Mu never expected that while she and Jiang Bei were waiting in the restaurant, a familiar little boy would co running towards her and jump into her arms, sweetly calling out:

"Sister Su."

Su Mu had not yet recovered from seeing Wen Shaoyuan when she saw him smilingly turn to a similarly astonished Jiang Bei and cheerfully greet:

"Auntie Xiaobei, long ti no see."

Jiang Bei ca to her senses, "Shaoyuan, you know each other?"

Su Mu: "..."

So, the child she was ant to tutor was Wen Shaoyuan?
