Wen Han had no idea when he started liking Su Mu.

His previous repression or disguise was because she had her own family, later his endurance and company were because her wounds needed ti to heal, and now might not be the best ti, but he still needed to say it, he was a soldier, not one for dilly-dallying, and he couldn’t keep his feelings bottled up forever without ever speaking them.

Whether the outco was joy or sorrow wasn’t actually in his consideration, no matter which, Wen Han felt he could accept it, as long as she was happy, as long as she was doing well.

Having said the words he’d repressed for three years, he felt much more relieved, so his expression eased, looking at Su Mu with a gentle smile playing on his lips; Su Mu seed to be influenced by him and smiled lightly, but she was not as relaxed as he was, after all, she needed to give an answer.

He took a light sip of his coffee, which had turned a bit cold, and there seed to be too little sugar, leaving a slightly bitter taste in his mouth. Su Mu put it down and puckered her lips, then spoke:

"Wen Han, after the divorce... I never thought about starting a new relationship."

Wen Han was not surprised by her answer and smiled lightly:

"Three years have passed, hasn’t this thought wavered even a little bit?"

Su Mu shook her head, "I know it’s hurtful, but no... it hasn’t."

"Actually, I could guess the kind of answer I would get, but even knowing, I still said it. Do you think I’m sowhat masochistic?"

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"Wen Han, so words, when said, can seem very contrived and fake, but I still want to say that you’ll et soone better than ."

"If it’s true, as you say, that I can et soone better, then can you tell why I can’t stop thinking about you?" Wen Han smiled, "You know, not to boast, but I’m a good catch, and I’ve had no shortage of suitors these past three years, but I didn’t take a second glance at any of them. Are they too inferior, or is my heart too full?"

Su Mu lowered her gaze, pondering how to respond, while Wen Han watched her, sighing:

"Su Mu, I’m saying if, if I hadn’t rushed back to the military unit 11 years ago and had stayed in the hospital with you, by your side, waiting for you to wake up, would the person you fell in love with have been ?"

Jiang Bei had asked her the sa question, and her response at the ti was: I don’t know.

But now, Su Mu had a clear answer in her heart, she’d never thought about hiding or lying, so she replied to Wen Han:

"Yes."

"So, am I to miss out on you for a lifeti?"

Su Mu didn’t speak; she too wished that the person she’d t at the start was the right one, soone who cared for her like Wen Han did, understanding and respecting her, but fate seed to enjoy its jokes, making her et the wrong person at the right ti and the right person at the wrong ti, causing everything to be misaligned.

"We don’t have fate between us."

Wen Han looked at her:

"Do you still love him?"

At these words, Su Mu was montarily taken aback, then after a pause, she shook her head slightly:

"No, I’m not the type to self-harm. If I continued to harbor feelings for soone who’s hurt repeatedly, it would be rather disrespectful to myself. My feelings aren’t cheap, to be given limitlessly without expecting anything in return."

"So he made you lose faith in love?"

Su Mu didn’t answer, and Wen Han took her silence as agreent.

"Su Mu, what if I don’t ask you to love ? Just being by my side is enough."

"I’ve always been by your side," Su Mu said with a faint smile, "ready to help with anything you need, without hesitation."

"You know that’s not what I an."

Su Mu slowly turned her head to gaze into the distant night sky, her hands intertwined on the railing. It was clear that this situation made her uneasy, but so things had been said, so it was ti to speak plainly, even if the outco wasn’t what one wished for.

"I don’t need you to love , nor do I need you to do anything or change anything for ; you can completely be yourself. You can have a wounded heart, be disillusioned with love, and I wouldn’t be afraid. I didn’t have the standing before, but once you give the chance, I will make you forget the past and look forward to every tomorrow with great anticipation."

"You like photography, and I support you. I might not be able to accompany you around the world when I’m busy, but as soon as I have ti, I’ll co to find you. I’m a straightforward military man, and I’m eager for you to influence , to help develop an artistic sense. We can take our child along, and travel the world under the guise of work."

"At ho, you won’t need to cook, because I’m good at cooking. You won’t have to worry about what to eat for three als a day. If there’s anything you want to eat, just tell . I’ll make it if I can, or I’ll learn if I can’t. If you feel embarrassed, you can wash the dishes after als, but I’d still prefer to do it myself, since I don’t want you to get too tired."

"Regarding the children, I don’t think you need to worry at all. They get along well and like us a lot. There won’t be any issues of acceptance, and we can give them a complete family. Once Qiqi starts school, you’ll definitely face tis when you can’t balance work and her, but it’ll be different if we’re together. I will look after her well. You should know I’ve long considered Qiqi as my own daughter."

"As for our parents, mine liked you from the mont they saw you. When they didn’t know you were married, they even encouraged to pursue you. You get along well with my mother too, so there’ll be no mother-in-law and daughter-in-law issues. Even if there are, you should trust . I’ll handle it well and make sure you aren’t mistreated in the slightest."

"In summary, I think us being together would be a happy thing for both you and . You’re smart, and I think refusing isn’t a wise choice."

This was the longest speech Su Mu had ever heard from Wen Han since they had known each other, every word and sentence piercing directly into Su Mu’s heart. She couldn’t deny that the future he painted was beautiful; so beautiful it made her heart flutter, and irresistibly tempted her to see and try it.

But once, another person had described the future to her, she believed it, yet the outco was lonely.

If Wen Han’s words had co when her heart was first stirring, Su Mu felt she might have given up the whole world just to go with him to see that future. But unfortunately, her now was... weathered by life’s hardships.

Seeing that Su Mu’s eyes had reddened slightly, Wen Han sighed helplessly, took a step forward, and gently stroked her hair:

"I’m not saying these things to sound nice, but to make you feel my sincerity. I never intended to make you cry, Su Mu... I want to give you happiness, to give you a ho."
