Su Mu refused to let Wei Shaoqin take her; she stumbled out of the hospital. Wei Shaoqin was not at ease and followed her until he saw her et her friend, which sowhat reassured him. Although he was always up for fun, he had so basic reverence for life. If he had known such an incident would occur during his frivolous monts, Wei Shaoqin would never have done so.

Unfortunately, Su Mu probably wouldn’t believe it.

Jiang Bei was startled when he saw Su Mu’s condition and examined her closely:

"What happened to you? Why do you look like this? What happened?"

However, Su Mu wasn’t in the mood to care about herself:

"How is my mom? What’s her condition now?"

"Don’t worry, Auntie is fine now; the surgery went smoothly."

Upon hearing this from Jiang Bei, the heart that had been hanging in Su Mu’s chest all the way eased slowly, "That’s good."

"I have so clothes in my resting room. I’ll take you there to change. It’s not good for you to see Auntie looking like this."

Su Mu didn’t refuse, for she didn’t want her mother to see her in such a disheveled state either.

As they headed to the resting room, Jiang Bei saw Wei Shaoqin standing not too far away, his gaze fixed on Su Mu, which made her ask:

"Susu, do you know that person?"

Following Jiang Bei’s gaze, Su Mu’s expression cooled:

"I don’t know him."

Jiang Bei could clearly sense Su Mu’s hostility, but it wasn’t a good ti to say anything, so he took her to the resting room.

When Su Mu took off her hospital gown, Jiang Bei saw the wounds on her wrists and was shocked. Being a doctor, she could instantly recognize what kind of wounds they were, and coupled with Su Mu’s appearance, it wasn’t hard to imagine what she had done:

"Did you really try to kill yourself last night? Did you really go to die?"

Su Mu, dressed in Jiang Bei’s clothes, shook her head:

"No, I never thought about dying. My mom is still around; what would she do if I died?"

"Then this..."

"It’s a long story, I’ll tell you when I have ti."

Knowing Su Mu was not in the mood, Jiang Bei didn’t press further, but she felt it was best to inform Su Mu:

"You didn’t co ho last night, right? Fu Shinian stayed in the hospital until Auntie ca out of the operating room and then he went back. He also signed the consent form for the surgery. I don’t know if he will co to the hospital later, but have you thought about what you will say about your appearance?"

Su Mu hesitated for a mont, having never considered the possibility that Fu Shinian would sign her mother’s surgical consent form and wait in the hospital until her mother safely exited the operating room.

Jiang Bei knew by her expression that she hadn’t expected it, and maybe she might even feel that the man was truly sincere towards her, hence she said:

"That’s what he ought to do as your husband. And besides, he didn’t seem anxious at all about you disappearing last night. I asked him to send people to look for you, but he said you weren’t foolish enough to forget the way ho, talking about ’the rule of law society’! I was so angry, I would have beaten him down if I could."

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"Actually, he’s just a bit harsh with his words."

"I don’t think he will let you off easily. Although he has no feelings for you, do you think such a man would allow his wife to be out all night without any contact? Susu, should we call the police?"

Su Mu laughed, "No, he won’t do anything to ."

But Jiang Bei didn’t know that Su Mu herself felt uncertain as she said that.

It was only after seeing her mother in the hospital room that Su Mu truly felt relieved, but watching her mother lying there lifelessly, she couldn’t help but tear up.

...

When Fu Shinian woke up, it was only six in the morning; there were no ssages on his phone. He stared blankly at the ceiling for a while, then got out of bed according to his usual routine and went for a run, only unlike other days, there was an inexplicable fire burning in his heart, so he completed the usual 10-kiloter route in half the usual ti.

Sweaty, he returned to Bishui Yuntian, only then noticing a foreign car parked in the courtyard. Without stopping, he strode into the house and imdiately spotted Ji Nanfeng sitting on the sofa, resting with his eyes closed.

"Any news?"

Ji Nanfeng hadn’t slept much all night and, seeing Fu Shinian looking refreshed, couldn’t hide his irritation:

"Tell , Su Mu is your wife. Why is it that I’m the one who didn’t get much rest investigating for you, while you could sleep till dawn?"

Fu Shinian looked at him:

"Stick to business."

Ji Nanfeng pouted but knew he was concerned about Su Mu, so he didn’t continue to joke:

"At first, I had soone check the surveillance caras near Junyue Hotel to track her, but after several hours, we didn’t see Su Mu. I asked around and found out she hadn’t gone to work yesterday. Why didn’t you tell earlier? My manpower isn’t free, you know?"

"What happened next?"

"..." Ji Nanfeng gave in, "Then I mobilized nearly all the caras in the area and finally found Su Mu’s figure near the pedestrian street. After leaving the pedestrian street, she went to a sanatorium and stayed there almost all day. After leaving the sanatorium, she was abducted by a black van near a bus station."

Hearing this, Fu Shinian looked at Ji Nanfeng:

"Kidnapping? Who are they? Where is Su Mu now?"

From last night until now, Fu Shinian hadn’t been able to reach Su Mu, but he had never really thought she could truly be in danger.

Facing three consecutive questions, Ji Nanfeng looked at Fu Shinian and chuckled lightly:

"Are you nervous?"

Fu Shinian looked at him. Ji Nanfeng’s expression was never serious from start to finish, which could only an that Su Mu was safe. He gradually relaxed and said softly:

"You know why I’m nervous, and it’s not because of her as a person."

Ji Nanfeng shrugged, deciding not to dwell on this issue:

"Have you recently offended soone from Wei Corporation?"

"Wei Shaoqin?"

"Yes, it was his n. They were very efficient. Even my n had so trouble finding them. They kidnapped her to a farm in the south of the city and then there were no more updates. I had people check, and the farm is registered under Wei Shaoqin’s na."

Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds, and when Ji Nanfeng did not continue, Fu Shinian finally spoke: "That’s it?"

"I got this information overnight, ca straight here without even washing my face. Are you implying that you’re not satisfied?"

"You clearly knew that Su Mu was kidnapped by Wei Shaoqin’s n, and now you also know where she’s being held. Why didn’t you go straight to the farm to bring her back, instead of coming here to tell this? Can Su Mu magically co back by you just talking about it?"

Ji Nanfeng: "...You’ve always hidden your relationship with Su Mu from the public. If I rashly go there, Wei Shaoqin will surely overthink it. I had to co ask for your opinion first."

"No matter what, bring her back first."

Fu Shinian didn’t know what Wei Shaoqin’s true intentions were. Although Fu Corporation and Wei Corporation competed in business, they had never outright torn their relationship. Moreover, he had just returned from abroad; Wei Shaoqin should not know about him and Su Mu, and if he did, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to challenge him in this manner. The only explanation was...

Wei Shaoqin had taken an interest in Su Mu.

Seeing the resolve on Fu Shinian’s face, Ji Nanfeng didn’t ask any further and made a call right there, instructing his people to get ready while standing up from the sofa:

"After all, it’s Wei Shaoqin’s territory. I’d better go there in person to avoid any unpleasantness on both sides."

Fu Shinian nodded without saying a word.

Ji Nanfeng took a couple of steps towards the door, then suddenly turned back to look at Fu Shinian, who still sat unmoving:

"Shinian, we both know what kind of person Wei Shaoqin is. Su Mu spending an entire night there likely does not bode well. If sothing really happened... What do you plan to do?"

The air seed to thicken at that mont, becoming oppressively stifling.

Fu Shinian seed not to hear Ji Nanfeng’s words, he remained silent for a long ti. Just as Ji Nanfeng was about to give up and leave, he heard Fu Shinian’s voice, weary, saying:

"First, bring her back."

An hour after Ji Nanfeng left, Fu Shinian didn’t think about Su Mu anymore. He went upstairs to take a shower, change clothes, and eat breakfast as usual. It seed he wasn’t very concerned about Su Mu’s situation; her emotions were not within his scope of deliberation, but perhaps only he himself knew that he simply hadn’t decided how to proceed with their relationship, as Ji Nanfeng had suggested.

The phone rang, and he answered it upon seeing Ji Nanfeng’s na:

"How is it?"

"Su Mu is no longer at the farm."

Fu Shinian frowned: "Where is she?"

"Still investigating."

Fu Shinian hung up the phone.

He fought hard to suppress the urge to throw the phone, holding tightly in his palm, his knuckles whitening from the force. Such a tense atmosphere made even Auntie Lin, who had been around him for years, not dare to approach him until he stood up and dialed Song Yi:

"Three minutes, I want Wei Shaoqin’s phone number."

Less than two minutes later, Fu Shinian received Wei Shaoqin’s number in his WeChat. He looked at the series of digits for a few seconds before finally making the call.

The phone rang for a long ti before it was picked up, but Fu Shinian was patient. Hearing Wei Shaoqin’s lazy, husky voice, Fu Shinian clenched his teeth:

"It’s already 9 a.m., Junior President Wei isn’t at the company, is it because you have a beauty in your arms?"

Wei Shaoqin was silent for a few seconds, seemingly confirming who was on the other end. Fu Shinian, tired of guessing, directly said:

"This is Fu Shinian."

"Mr. Fu? Why would you call ? Did soone under unknowingly block Mr. Fu’s path to wealth?"

"This trifle isn’t worth bothering Junior President Wei about."

Wei Shaoqin thought about it and agreed. Fu Shinian, having attained his position, would hardly handle business matters personally. But what could be so important to make Fu Shinian personally intervene? Wei Shaoqin was uncertain about Fu Shinian’s intentions.

"Mr. Fu, you’re looking for because..."

"I heard Junior President Wei acquired a beauty yesterday."
