When Fu Shinian stepped out of the bath, Su Mu’s figure was no longer in the room. He didn’t know when she had left; he just looked toward the direction of the sofa and montarily lost himself in thought. But he couldn’t deceive himself into believing that her actions were all about money.

Even though she was often manipulative, the Su Mu he knew wouldn’t do such a thing for money – she valued her own dignity and pride above everything else.

What he said earlier was just an uncontrollable urge to mock and infuriate her, to make her reveal her true intentions. Yet she, preferring to be misunderstood, still didn’t say it out loud.

Getting into bed, Fu Shinian got a shock because soone was hidden under the covers. He almost sprang up, needing a good while to calm down before he could address the person who was supposed to have vanished:

"Su Mu, why are you here?"

Su Mu, who’d been discovered, slowly peeked out from under the blanket. Perhaps without much confidence, she only showed a pair of eyes, looking at Fu Shinian with a pitiful expression:

"You wouldn’t kick out after we’ve just enjoyed ourselves, would you?"

"Get back to your master bedroom."

"I won’t." Su Mu retorted, for once: "Regardless of what you think of , we are husband and wife, after all. Husbands and wives should share the sa room, the sa bed."

Fu Shinian was silent for a mont. He seriously wondered whether this woman in front of him was the sa one who sat humbly at his feet earlier. How else could her mood have shifted so rapidly in such a short ti? Of course, Fu Shinian couldn’t fathom why Su Mu had changed like this.

This was her way of compromising for love, being willing to change like a chaleon just to stay by his side, to be noticed. As for her pride, it would never win her Fu Shinian.

"You know very well what kind of husband and wife we are. There’s no need for to remind you. Or is it that you finally can’t help but reveal your true motive?"

"Isn’t my motive obvious enough? I just want to sleep with you."

Fu Shinian: "...Your skin seems to be getting thicker and thicker!"

Su Mu smiled faintly:

"You’ve just taken a bath; the floor is cold. Co quickly into the warm bed; I’ve ward it up already."

Perhaps it had been a while since Fu Shinian had seen Su Mu’s playful side, or maybe she really did make him feel very comfortable just now, so much so that he didn’t end up insisting on sending her away. He got under the covers and into bed, but that was all, he couldn’t allow her to push her luck any further.

No sooner had Fu Shinian lain down than Su Mu shifted closer, only to be sternly warned by him:

"Move one inch closer to , and you can roll back to sleep on your own."

Su Mu stopped moving.

Fu Shinian’s phone rang and he hesitated for a few seconds after picking it up from the nightstand but eventually pressed the answer button:

"What happened? ...I’ll co to pick you up... Alright, I’ll let them know... See you tomorrow."

Su Mu couldn’t hear what the person on the other end of the line was saying, but she knew it had to be Qin Nianwan. Only she could evoke such a tender side of Fu Shinian, making even his voice gentle and soft. Su Mu suppressed the discomfort in her heart and kept her smile casual and indifferent as she asked:

"Who called you so late at night?"

Fu Shinian glanced at her:

"Have you been a bit too nosy lately?"

Su Mu just smiled and said no more, watching him for a few seconds. Seeing that he had closed his eyes to sleep, she remained awake for a long ti. Even though she was afraid, the inevitable was bound to co...

The next day Su Mu woke up early, but Fu Shinian was already gone from the room. Uncertain whether he had gone to the airport or the office, she lay silently for a while, then suddenly felt that she should pull herself together. What difference did it make if Qin Nianwan returned? At least she was still sitting in Mrs. Fu’s seat, and besides, it was she who had wronged Fu Shinian first all those years ago.

She couldn’t afford to admit defeat without a fight.

Leaving the guest room, she ran into Fu Shinian, who had just returned from his workout. Su Mu froze, perhaps having imagined the situation to be too tragic, which is why her mood brightened when she realized he hadn’t left. She greeted Fu Shinian with a big smile:

"Oh, you haven’t left yet?"

Fu Shinian looked at her as though she was a stranger, "Has anyone ever told you that you look especially like a fool when you smile?"

Su Mu didn’t mind his mockery, and followed him back inside:

"Will you be having lunch at ho today?"

"Hmm."

"Is there anything you’d like to eat? Shall I ask the kitchen to prepare it?"

"No."

Su Mu was about to ask sothing else but saw Fu Shinian stop at the doorway to the walk-in closet and look at her, "If you don’t want to upset my stomach, you’d better start keeping your mouth shut from now."

After breakfast, Fu Shinian was about to leave when Su Mu took the opportunity to suggest:

"Where are you going? Could you drop off at the sanatorium on the way? I want to visit my mother."

Fu Shinian, faced with Su Mu’s unusual clinginess:

"Are you on the wrong dication or sothing? If you want to go to the sanatorium, let the driver take you. I don’t have ti."

"Aren’t you going to the office? It should be on the way, so why bother the driver, right?"

Fu Shinian looked at her for a few seconds:

"I didn’t pay them to be decorations, Mrs. Fu. If you think you won’t need a driver from now on, you can dismiss them all today."

After Fu Shinian left, Auntie Lin ca over:

"Madam, do you need to arrange for a driver to take you?"

Su Mu shook her head: "No, it’s not necessary."

She had never truly intended to go to the sanatorium; it was just an excuse to follow Fu Shinian. Since that was no longer possible, she lost all desire to go out.

Shen City Airport

There were 15 minutes until Qin Nianwan’s arrival. Fu Shinian was sitting in the car, working on his laptop, dealing with his emails. His phone rang. He glanced at it but didn’t answer. Ji Nanfeng wouldn’t be calling him at this ti with good news. He let the phone ring until the car beca quiet again. But just a few seconds later, the phone rang again, and this ti even Song Yi, sitting in the front passenger seat, turned to look at Fu Shinian.

Fu Shinian answered the call:

"Since when do you have such patience?"

"I don’t have this patience for anyone else, but since it’s you, of course, it’s a different story."

Fu Shinian glanced at his watch:

"Speak quickly."

"Around this ti, you should be at the airport, right? How are you feeling? I’m particularly curious."

"You called just to ask this?"

"On this special day, there’s nothing I’m more curious about. Not only your mood, but I also want to know if Su Mu knows Qin Nianwan is coming back today."

Suddenly, Fu Shinian rembered Su Mu’s abnormal behavior the night before. Could it be because she knew about Qin Nianwan’s return? Had she acted that way to capture his attention? But in an instant, he dismissed the thought. She always had calculated intentions towards him. Even if her concerns were as he suspected, what she most likely feared was losing her position as Mrs. Fu.

Tired of Ji Nanfeng’s teasing, he said directly:

"Notify Qiao Yu to have dinner with Nianwan tonight as a welco-back treat for her."

Seeing Fu Shinian in person was a scene that Ji Nanfeng would never miss. Without any hesitation, he agreed, but just as he was about to speak again, Fu Shinian had already hung up the phone.

The car was silent for a mont, then Song Yi spoke up to remind him:

"Mr. Fu, it’s almost ti."

Fu Shinian responded, then added:

"Is the monthly allowance for the madam always transferred on ti?"

"On the first of every month, 2 million is transferred to the madam’s account, without fail."

"From now on, double the amount. And today, deposit an additional 10 million to her account."

Song Yi: "Understood."

With 3 minutes to landing, just as Song Yi was about to remind him again, Fu Shinian spoke first:

"You go out and et her."

Song Yi was startled but quickly understood: "Yes, Mr. Fu."

After saying that, he opened the door and stepped out of the car.

After 2 years, Qin Nianwan returned to the city of Shen City, her state of mind completely changed. She couldn’t forget the heartache she felt when she left, nor could she forget how hard the last two years had been. Fortunately, it was not too late; she had finally returned. This ti, she wouldn’t be as submissive as she was two years ago, allowing others to manipulate her.

Upon arriving at the lobby, Qin Nianwan carried a small suitcase and a black backpack. She wore a simple white t-shirt, jeans, and her long hair was tied up in a high ponytail. Her palm-sized face was so tender it seed like water could be wrung out of it. She looked exactly like a college student, a bright and youthful presence amidst the busy crowd. This was the Qin Nianwan that Song Yi recognized, as he had often seen her looking like this two years ago.

Standing in front of Song Yi, Qin Nianwan repeatedly looked past him, yet she did not see Fu Shinian. Disappointed, she tried not to show it and didn’t ask any questions.

Song Yi knew what she was looking for but didn’t say it outright. Fu Shinian had arrived at the airport earlier, which showed his consideration for Qin Nianwan, but he didn’t co to et her at the last mont. Song Yi didn’t dare guess his thoughts and simply took the suitcase from her:

"Miss Qin, the car is waiting outside the hall. Let’s go."

"Okay."

Qin Nianwan didn’t expect that the very next second after she had co to terms with Fu Shinian not being there to et her, she would see him. Outside the airport hall, he stood in front of the car in a white shirt and black trousers, a picturesque figure smiling at her with amusent shining in his eyes.

Such a smile was sothing Qin Nianwan had seen countless tis two years ago; it seed like he always liked to watch her like this, making her feel adored.

Walking towards him, she stopped when she was just a step away. Qin Nianwan’s eyes were slightly moist, and her voice choked:

"Long ti no see."

Fu Shinian was silent for a few seconds: "Long ti no see."

After not seeing her for two years, she still appeared as she did in his mories, favoring a white T-shirt, jeans, canvas shoes, and a backpack. Seeing her now gave Fu Shinian the impression that, in fact, she had never left.
