Chapter 963: 949, Happy Birthday (2)

Unfortunately, after a long while of looking, only seriousness remained.

Quan Jingwu propped his hands on either side of her, leaning in close, “Who exactly is it?”

Jian Qing leaned back, “Want to know?”

Quan Jingwu’s thin lips were pressed tightly together, “Speak.”

“Then first tell , what are you going to do after you find out?” Jian Qing asked with interest.

“Beat him up badly, so badly that not even his mother would recognize him,” Quan Jingwu said, without blinking an eye, fiercely.

Jian Qing, “…”

Not even recognize his own mother?

Xiaojing, are you serious about that?

“Quan Jingwu, I never imagined you would go so far as to hit your own son, that’s too cruel,” she said with a click of her tongue.

eting her cunning smile at the bottom of her eyes, even soone as dense as Quan Jingwu realized what had happened.

He had been played.

“Naughty treasure, you’re not behaving,” he said, as his brows relaxed, his low voice sending a dangerous ssage.

Jian Qing chuckled lightly, agilely slipping out from his arms.

“Who told you to get hurt without telling ? I’m just playing with you, how about that?”

She ran to another sofa to sit and made a face at him.

It had been a long ti since he had seen her so lively in front of him, and Quan Jingwu was montarily stunned.

“Aren’t you going to co over and blow out the candles quickly? I’ve co all this way to celebrate your birthday, and if you’re moved to tears, I’m willing to accept that,” Jian Qing smiled as she opened up the cake, looking over at the person on the other side who had yet to co to his senses.

Quan Jingwu looked at the person busy with the candles, his lips curving slightly, then he got up and sat down beside her.

“Willing to admit it was bought for ?”

After Jian Qing lit the last candle, she glanced at him sideways, “Want to show off a bit?”

“Sure!” Quan Jingwu replied in a light tone.

With that, he cupped her face and gently pecked her soft lips.

“Muah—”

The loud sound was inexplicably amusing.

Jian Qing pushed him, urging, “Hurry up, make a wish and blow out the candles.”

Quan Jingwu released her, sat straight, the flickering candlelight illuminating his deep purple eyes; he clasped his hands together, closed his eyes, and made a wish.

He had lived for over twenty years, and aside from when he was a child, this was his first ti seriously making a wish.

Jian Qing rested her chin in her hand as she watched his sharply contoured side profile, her gaze tender.

“Done.”

Quan Jingwu dropped his hands and turned to look at her, “Blow out the candles together?”

“Mhm.”

Jian Qing smiled and took the initiative to hold his hand.

Both leaned forward, the candle’s flickering light casting dreamlike shadows on their cheeks.

“Whoosh—”

The candles were blown out, leaving behind the faint sll of the burnt wax.

Just as Jian Qing was about to speak, the man pulled her into his embrace, with a force as if wanting to rge her into his body.

“My treasure, I’m very happy, so happy…”

From the mont he saw her, he was surprised, he was worried, but above all, he was overjoyed.

She still rembered his birthday; he knew all too well how long it took from Beijing. She went in the middle of the night to find him a cake, then hurried over to spend his birthday with him.

Just for that alone, how could he not love her?

She had lost her mory and forgotten him, causing him more pain than anyone could imagine. Yet now she still rembered his birthday and rushed over in the middle of the night to spend it with him. He thought that was enough.

Jian Qing pursed her lips into a smile. In a place where he couldn’t see, her obsidian-like eyes twinkled with brilliant joy.

She raised her hand to hug him back, gently patting his back.

“What wish did you make just now?”

Quan Jingwu fell into silence, and Jian Qing laughed without much concern.

“If you won’t tell , then how about I guess? Hmm… you didn’t wish for

to regain my mory, did you?”

He remained silent, but in doing so, he conceded.

He didn’t know when her lost mory would return, but if his birthday wish could co true, he had only one wish. He wanted to hear her call him Xiaojing again, to hear her say “My Jing the Conqueror,” to hear her call him husband.

Not to call him by his full na, Quan Jingwu.

“Your silence ans you agree?” Jian Qing asked softly.

Quan Jingwu humd in affirmation, burying his handso face in the nape of her neck.

“Hehe!”

Jian Qing placed her hand on his chest and pushed to create so distance between them. “Quan Jingwu, I have sothing to tell you.”

“Hmm?” Seeing her serious expression, Quan Jingwu was sowhat puzzled.

Jian Qing lifted her hand to cup his face, her gaze tenderly smiling, warr than all the bright stars in the sky, “Xiaojing, happy birthday!”

Her smiling eyes and soft, gentle voice were all too familiar to him.

In an instant, Quan Jingwu’s eyes lit up with surprise and disbelief. “You… have your mories back?”

Ever since she had entered the room, he felt there was sothing different in the way she spoke to him, an intimacy that seed as though she hadn’t lost her mory at all.

He had always thought it was his imagination and never expected that she had truly recovered her mory.

“It’s my duty to fulfill my Jing the Conqueror’s birthday wish,” Jian Qing said with a smile, that long-missed term “Jing the Conqueror” piercing straight into the depths of his soul.

Seizing his mont of stunned silence, Jian Qing cupped his face and leaned in to kiss his lips. “I’m sorry, Xiaojing, for making you suffer for so long!”

Muffled words escaped from between their lips, but Quan Jingwu heard them perfectly.

Looking into her smiling ink-black eyes, he curved his lips and raised his hand to press against the back of her head, deepening the kiss.

The man’s kiss was as assertive and domineering as ever, overwhelming her, and her porcelain-white hands clung to his shoulders as her body went limp in his embrace.

As dawn began to break, the night that belonged to the lovers was just getting started…

Approaching ten o’clock, Ouyang Yu still hadn’t seen Quan Jingwu, and he finally felt it strange.

“Yi Kai, what ti did you guys get back last night?”

Could it be that they were so exhausted from wiping out those strongholds last night that Lord Jing had overslept?

eting Ouyang Yu’s puzzled gaze, Yi Kai realized just how naively simple-minded his colleague was.

“The lady ca.”

Ouyang Yu’s eyes widened in shock. “Lord Jing’s mother ca?”

Yi Kai was stunned by his response.

He grabbed a pillow and threw it at him, saying irritably, “Cut it out, the Boss’s wife ca.”

Ouyang Yu uttered an ‘oh’ and then blurted out again, “That’s not right, this mission was supposed to be a secret known only to those at the top. We weren’t allowed to tell anyone else.”

Yi Kai was startled by his sudden outburst, struggling to restrain his impulse to thump him. He massaged his forehead while looking at Ouyang Yu and said, “The lady is no ordinary person, just pretend you know nothing.”

“What do you an?” Ouyang Yu didn’t understand the implication of his words.

In his view, their missions were highly confidential, and even Quan Jingwu’s wife shouldn’t be involved.

“It ans you should eat more walnuts to nourish your brain,” Yi Kai said.

This ti, Ouyang Yu realized he was being mocked. He attempted to kick Yi Kai but forgot about the wound on his leg, which caused him to break out in a cold sweat from pain.

“Serves you right,” Yi Kai said with schadenfreude pleasure. “That’s why I advise you to be kind and not resort to violence at every turn.”
