"Thank you for helping in front of my father. I wouldn’t have been able to convince him without your help," Crown Prince Ludwig said to Marik as they left the palace together. "But I’m wondering, why did you help ? Are you expecting a reward?"
"If you are, then speak. I am a generous prince. Since you’ve lost your gold and items to sell when those filthy beastn attacked you, I assu that you want so gold and jewelry as a reward, right?"
Marik shook his head gently.
"My caravan has been destroyed, but I still have banknotes in my small bag. I can always exchange them at the bank to live comfortably here or in Jing Empire, Your Highness."
"All I did was to make sure that you won’t be humiliated in front of your father, and..." Marik lowered his head slightly. "I want you to avenge what those beastn have done to my family."
Crown Prince Ludwig’s eyes peered towards Marik. "You seem to be holding a long-ti grudge against those beastn."
"They destroyed my family. If I don’t feel vengeful, then I am not a man," Marik replied calmly, but his gaze darkened as he was reminded of a beautiful scenario of him living with Sisi and Jojo inside Jing Forest as a family.
He was also reminded of his mother, who beca one of the victims at Kael’s hand when he was under the order of an Alpha back in his old pack.
Kael had robbed his past, his present, and his future. So, all Marik did was basically self-defense.
He might not be as strong, but he would definitely snatch Sisi back to his side.
He wanted to secure his future with Sisi at least.
As for Jojo...
Marik loved him so much, but his life was connected with his cursed father.
So, Jojo was basically a lost cause.
"Well, since you don’t want an imdiate reward, then I’ll let you think about it after the war has ended. Don’t worry, I can always give you a permit to live in Barion Kingdom permanently and even give you an important official position, since you’ve helped convince my father," Crown Prince Ludwig said as he had regained so of his regality. He ran away like a coward during the skirmish, but since his father had appointed him as the leader of this war to destroy the Beast Kingdom once and for all, Ludwig beca arrogant once more.
"I am... flattered, Your Highness. Thank you for your kindness," Marik replied, but he actually sneered in his heart.
Of course, he wouldn’t need those aningless human positions.
On top of that, he doubted this wimpy, spoiled boy would survive the war.
After all, Kael was not a kind ruler. He was vicious to his enemies and wouldn’t spare Ludwig’s life.
But that didn’t matter for Marik, because his focus was to make sure Kael got busy with these filthy humans while he slipped in and snatched what had belonged to him from the very first ti—Sisi.
Marik excused himself and returned to the inn where he was staying with Leah right now.
That woman had been going around the Barion Kingdom trying to seduce so high-ranked noblen or generals, but she was so plain-looking that nobody really paid her attention.
Thus, right after Marik sat on the bed, the door was opened, and Leah walked in with a grim look in her eyes.
"These humans have no taste," Leah complained. "Do they not realize that I am a beauty renowned in the Beast Kingdom? Why can’t I find a man here?"
Marik glanced at her and scoffed.
This woman really thought that she was prettier than Ruela, who was a known beauty across the Beast Kingdom.
And she also claid that she and Sisi were on par in terms of beauty, which was the most delusional take Marik had ever heard in his life.
Sisi was objectively breathtaking. She had the kind of face that could destroy a nation. In fact, Marik had to admit that he might’ve fallen for her the mont they t because she was gorgeous, then he fell even deeper after knowing what a wonderful person Sisi was.
But Marik was too tired to try to debate a crazy woman. So he said, "We’ll go to war in probably a month. The king is very anxious about cleaning up the beastn because the kingdom has invested a lot of money to build a trade route between Jing Empire and Barion Kingdom, and for it to be abandoned is not an option."
"Oh, that’s great! I can’t wait to go in and kill those bitches Ruela and Sisi!" Leah said. "Especially Ruela. I’ve raised that woman and protected her, only for her to betray !"
’What betrayal? You’re the one who almost killed her and tried to harm Sisi and Jojo,’ Marik said to himself. ’You are the most delusional woman I’ve ever t.’
Unfortunately, Marik still had uses for Leah, since a crazy woman like her wouldn’t mind creating havoc inside the capital city. She could be a good distraction that would get killed eventually.
"Since you told that it will beco a great war, does that an the Beast Kingdom will cease to exist?"
Of course not. It was impossible to defeat those beastn when they were united under one banner.
But everyone was just sacrificial fodder for Marik, as his true intention was to start a new family with Sisi anyway.
However, he still nodded in front of Leah. "Yes, they are all... going to die."
Which wasn’t wrong.
Those humans were going to die, and Kael would be the last to die after he sacrificed himself for Sisi’s safety.
’And in the end, I am going to be the winner in this. I will be the one who kills a demigod,’ Marik thought as he was thinking of Sisi again and began fantasizing about all the good things they would have in Jing Forest, such as having their own litter of cubs.
