"Daddy, do you think Sisi will return soon?" Jojo asked while pouting. He ate his at slowly and sadly. "I miss her so much."

"..." Kael kept his silence for a while before muttering, "She promised to return, and she will."

Kael and Jojo had been waiting for Sisi to return. It had been three days since she departed, and there hadn’t been any movent from inside the waterfall.

Kael wanted to swim and check for himself, but then he’d leave Jojo vulnerable here. Besides, the faeries had so many tricks to defend their holand, and Kael didn’t want to offend Sisi’s family over his own impatience.

But was he truly impatient after waiting for three days without any news about her?

What if she simply forgot about them because she finally returned to her roots? She might want to stay forever without saying goodbye to them, and even marry a male faerie there!

The idea of Sisi marrying a male faerie made Kael even more restless. It was even worse because he couldn’t sll Sisi’s scent or even the flower ring anymore once Sisi entered the waterfall, as if she had just vanished into the earth’s core.

He clutched the cloak that Sisi made for him. He had been very careful not to accidentally rip it, so he always took it off when he went for a hunt.

He also made sure to put it in a safe spot whenever he went for a bath with his son, and though he rarely wore it in fear of accidentally ripping it, Jojo had been wearing it permanently, as if it were already part of his skin.

But that was understandable, because Jojo didn’t understand the dire situation they were in right now.

In his mind, Sisi was just going sowhere for a trip and would return eventually.

The night in Roc Forest was always cold, even when they moved to the ’warr’ region in the south. So, once the sun had set and Jojo finished his dinner, he fell asleep on his father’s lap in his wolf form.

anwhile, Kael was sitting right in front of the clear lake, staring at the waterfall for a long ti, hoping that Sisi would co out of it sooner.

He had made a promise to himself that he’d wait here for eternity if that was all it took for Sisi to return. Though, he’d have to teach Jojo how to beco a good king before he stayed here permanently.

As the moon reached its peak, Kael sighed in defeat. It seed that Sisi wouldn’t co again today, so he was ready to go back to the hut that Sisi made and sleep with Jojo.

However, right as he was about to get up, he saw a silhouette coming from the waterfall. He squinted his eyes, and his eyes widened when he saw Sisi riding on the giant alligator’s back as it swam to the shore.

Sisi smiled upon seeing Kael and waved her hand. "Kael! Jojo! I’m back!"

Jojo, who had been comfortably sleeping on his father’s lap, suddenly twitched upon hearing Sisi’s voice. His ears twitched a few tis, trying to catch her voice again.

"Daddy, is she back? Sisi is back, right?!" Jojo asked. "Daddy, I heard Sisi’s voice just now! Was it just a dream?"

"No, son. You’re not dreaming," Kael replied, but his eyes were still glued to the figure of a beautiful woman riding a gator. "Your mother has returned."

"Oh! I want to et her now!" Jojo said as he shifted into his beastman form.

Kael stood at the lakeside while carrying Jojo in his arms. They were waiting for Sisi to cross the lake and reach the shore.

Once she stepped off the end of the gator’s mouth, she rushed toward Jojo and Kael, and then hugged them tightly.

"Oh, I really miss you two. It’s been a full day, no? I think I spent too much ti talking with my grandmother inside, so I lost track of ti," Sisi said.

"Where did you go, Sisi? It’s been three days!" Jojo protested, but he also tightly hugged Sisi’s neck and rubbed his head against her neck. "Did you bring a roasted mushroom for ?"

"Three days?!" Sisi gawked. "It’s been that long?"

"... Yes," Kael said calmly. He wrapped one arm around Sisi’s waist and pushed her deeper into his embrace, with Jojo in the middle, getting squeezed.

Kael didn’t show it, but he missed her so badly that he wished he could glue her to his side all the ti.

"Aww, sorry, Jojo, I forgot to bring mushrooms. I’ll get so for you tomorrow, alright?"

"Un! It’s very cold tonight, Sisi. Let’s just sleep first!" Jojo suggested.

"Well, before that, I’ll have to talk with your father first, alright?" Sisi said before taking Jojo from Kael’s arms. "Let tuck you in first."

"Un! Thank you, Sisi!"

Jojo happily lay in Sisi’s embrace as she walked into the hut. She tucked Jojo in and then patted his hair a few tis, waiting by his side until the boy finally fell asleep again.

Once he fell asleep, Sisi got up and returned to Kael’s side, who had been standing at the lakeside in silence. His eyes were always glued to her movents, as if one blink away and Sisi would disappear from his side.

Sisi stood in front of him and smiled. "Sorry to keep you waiting, Kael. I didn’t expect that I’d be gone for three days. I thought I would—"

Sisi didn’t finish her sentence, because Kael suddenly hugged her and pulled her into his embrace once more.

He kissed her deeply and full of longing as a way to calm the raging storm inside his heart.

He had fallen in love with this woman so deeply, to the point that he would feel restless not seeing her for an hour, let alone for three days straight.

Sisi didn’t struggle at all. She accepted the kiss because she knew that it wouldn’t be long before she truly had no way to return to Kael’s side in about two months.
