The Angel with six wings descended from the sky

The full moon adorned her

The frost crowned her

Her singing was gentle and serene

Her eyes were like untouched jade

Her posture was lofty and beautiful

Thus

A myriad of Ice Crystal Swords fell from the heavens

Piercing all things that crawled in darkness

The earth froze

Jewels reflected

The holy body walked the earth

————

Countless transparent, flawless Ice Crystal Long Swords condensed in the night sky, gathering around the rising full moon, in layers like a solemn royal guard. As the Angel in the night sky raised her hand, under her snow-white sleeve, her slender fingers pointed, and countless sword edges humd and quivered.

Imperial Decree·Winter Piercing

Then, the sword edges flashed, invisible ripples of light spread, countless sword edges pierced through the night sky like rain, shooting down with a shrill whistling sound.

Broken limbs and flowers of blood erupted and blood in the sky, then were cut into finer fragnts by straight beams of sword light, cascading down from above.

The people present looked up at the firmant, watching this incredibly shocking scene. The enemy that had made them sacrifice countless mbers and forced them to leave their hos, was annihilated in this endless rain of swords. Sharp blades subrged the barren land before them, covering thousands of ters from south to north with Ice Swords thrust into the ground, and everywhere lay the shredded corpses of the insect swarm.

So brutal, so powerful, yet so reassuring.

A few minutes later, no nacing bug was left alive in the whole sky and earth, only dismbered and incomplete fragnts remained, and no matter how strong the pheromones dispersed, the clean night sky remained silent.

Slowly, the girl with six wings descended from the sky, with a crescent moon mark faintly appearing on her forehead. As she walked, invisible light particles spread like fireflies, gathering at the wounds of all present on the field, and then a mild coolness erged, quietly erasing the previously tornting pain.

This scene, worthy of being called a miracle, left all words colorless. People could only stare blankly at her, feeling a surreal, dream-like unreality, as if everything was just a fantasy before death.

How could sothing so good happen? This must be because I am too exhausted and hopeless.

If this is a dream before death, perhaps I should be satisfied.

This thought flowed similarly in the hearts of many.

Fortunately, soone slowly reacted, touched the face that had been blasted, looked at the fingers that had been severed, and as they moved their hand again, they felt a sudden clarity.

Is this... real?

Everything changed so fast, it was hard to believe.

After healing the people on site, Tilan saw everyone’s look of surprise and disbelief and revealed a trace of a smile, finally breaking the silence.

"Is it better now?" Her voice was still as gentle as ever, making one feel a kind of youthful sincerity.

"Good, very good, thank you." Unable to find the right words, the person in front quickly replied, then felt that such words seed slightly disrespectful.

"Thank you so much for your rescue, no, for saving us."

"May I ask who you are?"

"Sorry, my mory is bad, I really don’t know your na." He tried hard to recall which friend from the Rescue Association this might be.

"My na is Tilan, Hexia Tilan, you can call Tilan." The girl answered his question, this process reminded her of that afternoon many years ago, as if soone had asked her the sa thing.

Perhaps back then, when she answered, she was a bit hesitant, but now her voice is especially calm.

"Thank you Miss Tilan." At this ti, the person and a few others around him bowed deeply with gratitude, looking at this girl whose back bore angelic wings.

Regardless of what species or faction this girl belonged to, they would not harbor any animosity, for this kindness surpassed any hollow political correctness.

The girl gently shook her head and then spoke.

"No need to thank like this, the fact that you held on yourselves is the most comndable."

"Now, can you tell your nas and origins?" She had already noticed the faded Rescue Association emblem, but the people before her were not the native humans she was familiar with.

Yes, these people no longer resemble ordinary humans. They have tan-yellow skin, with thick connective tissue on their bodies, which is also the basis for their ability to engage in close combat with vicious insects.

"We are the Heshan Rescue Association, descendants of the original humans," the leading commander stepped forward to answer, bending in gratitude before the young girl.

"Rescue Association? I’ve heard of it," Jade Skirt blinked.

"Since you are descendants of the original humans, it seems there are differences now."

"Yes, you are correct, we are indeed different from before," the commander sighed and then detailed the events of the past millennia to the young girl.

A thousand years ago, the remaining humans on this planet kept what little purity was left in their bloodlines. But after losing the external aid of the chanical Council, the already fragile original humans could no longer withstand the onslaughts and pursuits from various newborn races, scattering and dwindling, with many rescue associations gradually disappearing, leaving fewer humans surviving.

Fortunately, during this period, inherent contradictions existed between the various newborn races, offering the surviving rescue associations so breathing room.

Facing increasingly dire circumstances, the Rescue Association was forced to seek various ways to increase their chances of survival, one of which was gene modification, granting them extraordinary abilities similar to those of the newborn races.

"Thus, the pioneers of the Heshan Rescue Association chose the Lianshan species as a genetic template, incorporating its strengths into our genetic sequence, making our descendants exceptionally tenacious. Even without armor, they could withstand ordinary swords and stabs, significantly increasing combat tolerance, and allowing us to finally gain an equal advantage in battles with various species and factions."

"So that’s how it is," Jade Skirt nodded, not blaming their choice. In fact, if it weren’t for the appearance of Isenisha, such would be the inevitable fate of the original humans.

Genes cannot define humanity; at least in Jade Skirt’s heart, possessing those beautiful beliefs and willpower is the true essence of what the term ’human’ ans.

"What happened next?"

"After barely surviving on this planet, the pioneers and predecessors enforced mandatory education for every generation, preserving precious knowledge and skills to ensure the continuation of the Rescue Association."

"Initially, this command was not taken seriously by us, but as centuries passed, we discovered how crucial this tradition was when new races began exhibiting civilizational regression."

"The earliest newborn races acquired knowledge through learning devices, but after losing such devices, they did not cultivate similar educational habits in ti, causing a significant decline in technology. It was then that we gained a certain technical advantage."

"And so, we established nurous shelters in the mountains, carefully refining tal from rare ores to maintain our armant, gradually stabilizing amidst chaos."

"In that case, are there enough ores?" Jade Skirt thought about it, with her experience in Jade Skirt, the resources needed by the Rescue Association over the centuries were not insignificant.

"There was indeed a crisis of shortage; however, we later assisted the Northern Fede Alliance. They were a new race but not so malevolent. At least after losing the Black Sun, they beca less extre."

"The Iron Core species of the Fede Alliance can inherently produce steel and sense the presence of various ores. With mutual trade and support with them, we finally stood firm and were no longer oppressed by various wandering newborn races."

"And this ti?" Jade Skirt was curious about where the insects ca from, why the Rescue Association appeared here.

"The exact origin of the insect plague is unknown, but it has appeared in history. Although we are aware, we still couldn’t withstand their endless numbers. Several mountain fortresses fell, and we had to migrate westward."

"Along the way, we provided many weapons to local settlents, warning them of the impending disaster. So listened, so did not, but it doesn’t matter. When the insect plague strikes, they will surely take up arms to resist. Any strength added is good," the commander replied honestly.

"I see." With that, Jade Skirt finally understood the source of various events over the past six months.

"Will you continue migrating afterward?" Jade Skirt inquired.

"Yes, currently this land is too barren and desolate to sustain everyone."

"I can grant you enough land to live on, but you might have to follow so of my orders in the future. Are you willing?" She did not shy away from ntioning the conditions.

"If that’s the case, we will certainly comply." With that, he gratefully placed a hand on his chest, bowing in salute.

"Aren’t you curious about the specific reasons and identity? What if I were a new race with ulterior motives?" The girl’s wings spread behind her, so feathers circling back to cover her shoulders.

"You need not explain these to us. We are not foolish enough to be concerned with such narrow views on matters of life and death."

"Being able to save us, unrelated as we are, is enough to demonstrate your benevolence and greatness."

"Heshan Rescue Association is willing to accept your leadership."

"There’s an indescribable frankness about you," the girl lightly leaped, landing on a high armored vehicle, folding her wings to revert to her usual appearance.

"In fact, I’m not entirely unrelated to you because, coincidentally, I am an original human."

Under the night sky, the girl stood there quietly, revealing an enchanting smile.

"Now, can you feel at ease?"

"Thank you, great Lord Tiran."

After speaking, the gathered survivors collectively bowed, feeling an inexplicable sense of relief and gratitude.

Perhaps from this day forth, they would no longer live their days dodging and hiding.

This girl, just like the angel in ancient legends, had rescued them in their dire straits.

If this is a dream, then let it continue, don’t let wake up. In this epoch, the suffering seeping from countless histories and pages has made them afraid to wish for a world too happy and beautiful.

And on this night, the angelic girl descended from the sky will forever be rembered in each of their hearts, becoming an unforgettable mory.
