Chapter 40: The New Substitute Teacher
Back at ho, l leaned against the door, calming her emotions.
Just a mont ago, she really almost had a murderous intention toward Vilnia Randell.
She had finally managed to quiet the annoying gibberish, but now it had started up again.
l's brows furrowed tightly.
Those whispers affected her mind, they weren't just simple noise.
Besides sounding in her ears, those voices also interfered with her thoughts without her even realizing it.
Even though they were both Red Moon Shepherds, Shepherds from the sa faction weren't exactly companions.
They would unite against external threats, but when there were none, they would fight amongst themselves.
This was the law of survival among Shepherds.
l rubbed her temples, then stood up and walked to the table to pour herself a glass of water.
The cold liquid slid down her throat, but it couldn't extinguish the turmoil in her heart.
"!"
Suddenly, a mory inexplicably appeared in her mind, making l's hand tremble and almost causing her to drop the glass.
The girl put down the glass, then sat in the chair, her brows tightly furrowed as she relived the mory that had suddenly appeared.
It was the mory of the Omniscience Society fanatic she had killed in the kitchen today.
After she killed him, under the guidance of the gibberish in her ear, she had turned him into her flock.
Then, the girl gave the flock an order to escape the kitchen and return to his organization, and she erased his mory.
Throughout the entire process, the fanatic didn't know that he was actually dead, nor did he know that he had beco one of l's herding targets.
He followed his own will and instinct, and ran all the way back to his companions, ticulously recounting everything that had happened to him.
And at the sa ti, he also ticulously branded everything he had seen into his brain.
Until the mont Mr. Allen ca to settle the score with those guys and discovered the truth.
As the corpse was destroyed, the residual mory in the brain ca to l's mind through the psychic link between the flock and the Shepherd, allowing her to witness everything as if she were there herself.
The internal conflict of the Omniscience Society, Mr. Allen's special thod of controlling black mist, and his next plan.
l took a deep breath, trying to calm her inner turmoil.
“It's a sha... that he was just a regular mber. There were no useful clues in his mory,” she said with a hint of regret.
The information that the lamb knew was very limited, almost like a college student who was just there to get passing grades.
“The Omniscience Society is going to speed things up now.... I wonder what they're going to do.”
The girl gently stroked the moon disc mark on the back of her right hand.
She looked so uneasy, but there was no sign of wavering in her eyes.
It was as if Mr. Allen were standing in front of her right now, she would not hesitate to rush forward and kill him.
l gathered her thoughts, then got up from the chair and walked into the room to get her small schoolbag.
She still had howork to do.
Tomorrow was a school day.
The next day.
l arrived at the classroom.
Vilnia Randell was already in her seat.
Seeing l co over, she waved to her.
“Good morning, l.”
“Good morning, Vilnia Randell.”
l gave a faint smile, then walked to the seat next to Vilnia Randell and sat down.
Sunlight stread through the window at an angle, casting bright streaks of light on the desk.
The classroom was filled with the sll of chalk dust, mixed with the faint musty sll unique to old wooden desks.
l gently put down her schoolbag and took out her textbook, placing it on the desk.
Vilnia Randell never took her eyes off l, with a look of both curiosity and appreciation.
“Did you sleep well last night?”
Vilnia Randell asked softly, her tone filled with concern.
“Mmm, pretty well.”
l replied with a smile.
Just as Vilnia Randell was about to say sothing else, the classroom door was suddenly pushed open.
A man walked in front of everyone.
It was a man l had never seen before, or rather, no student in the class had ever seen.
The man was wearing a dark suit and appeared to be in his early thirties.
He had a handso face and an elegant deanor.
But his soul had no brilliance left.
The filth had almost consud his soul, not allowing any glow to be emitted.
He stood on the podium, his gaze casually sweeping across every corner of the classroom, finally settling on l.
“Good morning, everyone.”
The man paused, then spoke.
“I'm your new teacher for this period of ti. You can call Mr. Ridel, or Teacher Ridel.”
l's pupils suddenly contracted.
She subconsciously looked at Vilnia Randell next to her, only to find that Vilnia Randell's body was also slightly tense.
Clearly, both of them were on their guard against this new teacher who had suddenly appeared.
“Mrs. Catherine is not feeling well, so she has taken a few days off from school. I will be in charge of your classes for the next period of ti.”
Mr. Ridel's voice was gentle and magnetic.
“I hope we can get along well.”
“Shhh—”
The sound of chalk writing on the blackboard echoed in the classroom.
Mr. Ridel elegantly wrote down his na.
His movents were fluid, but they made l feel a chill.
“Don't be nervous.”
Vilnia Randell gently held l's hand.
A warm, soft touch ca from her fingertips, making l feel a little more at ease.
And similarly, the gibberish did not appear this ti.
This further confird l's guess.
“He won't do anything to us in class. Don't be afraid.”
“Now, let's begin today's lesson.”
Mr. Ridel opened the textbook and began to explain today's lesson.
Although l was already very familiar with this knowledge, she had to admit that his teaching style was indeed very unique.
Mr. Ridel used his unique teaching style to make boring arithtic formulas lively and interesting.
Many students were taking notes seriously, completely unaware of the undercurrents in the classroom.
“Student Rossetti.”
Just then, Mr. Ridel on the podium suddenly looked at l in the corner, his gaze gentle.
“Can you answer this question for ?”
He was holding a class roster in his hand, looking as if he was randomly calling out a na.
The atmosphere in the classroom imdiately beca subtle.
l stood up, forcing herself to calm down.
She stared at the arithtic problem on the blackboard, then clearly stated the answer.
“Very good.”
Mr. Ridel nodded with a smile.
“Your thought process is very clear. It seems that Student Rossetti is usually very diligent—please have a seat.”
“Thank you.”
l nodded indifferently, then sat down.
“Clack clack—”
The sound of chalk tapping on the blackboard echoed in the classroom.
Mr. Ridel continued to explain the lesson, as if nothing had happened.
The class continued.
Mr. Ridel's teaching was indeed very charming.
He made boring math formulas lively and interesting, and occasionally interspersed them with humorous examples, causing the students to laugh from ti to ti.
“He's testing us,” Vilnia Randell's voice ca softly.
“This person is definitely not simple.”
Hearing this, l looked at Vilnia Randell, and saw that her expression was solemn.
“Did you find sothing?”
l asked in a low voice.
“Mrs. Catherine is also one of my herding targets.”
Vilnia Randell said softly.
“But I can't feel the connection to her anymore.”
