The silvery light of advancent lasted for over half an hour before it slowly faded. The two people and one beast by its side were all struck with awe.
"Level 10, 4th-level Phantom Ancestor."
"Oh my goodness, my mother’s advancent was too frightening," Sang Yu blinked her eyes, still sowhat in disbelief.
"We should head back now, such commotion will attract others," Dugu Qianye said, and turned to mount Qingluan, with Sang Yu and Chen Yiran quickly climbing aboard as well.
Sure enough, not long after Qingluan left, people arrived one after another, with strengths all at the Phantom Emperor Level. The City Lord was also present among them.
"City Lord, what is this?"
"It appears soone was advancing here."
"But the advancent took too long."
"It is indeed strange. It lasted for almost half an hour."
"Since the person has already left, we should return as well," they said.
When Dugu Qianye returned to the City Lord’s Mansion, Qingluan returned to the Refining Demon Pot, while Sang Yu kept bouncing around holding Chen Yiran excitedly.
"Mother, mother, you’re so amazing!"
"Hehe, I didn’t expect this either, it’s really surprising!" Chen Yiran was also delighted. She hadn’t advanced in a long ti and never expected to rise by 10 levels today.
Dugu Qianye was very pleased as well, "Alright, you two rest well, we’ll head back tomorrow."
Seeing Dugu Qianye leaving, Sang Yu stopped her, "Boss, my mother won’t tell anyone about your business."
Dugu Qianye smiled without saying much. She trusted that Aunt Chen was a good mother, so she wouldn’t betray her.
The next day, the trio told the City Lord farewell and boarded the flashy beast carriage heading for Pu City. As they weren’t in a hurry, Dugu Qianye let the Swiftwind Wolf control the pace, while they chatted and cultivated inside the carriage.
"Just past the hill ahead we’ll reach Tong City. Let’s visit Gao Liang then. We can even invite him to join us on the road. Tonight, we’ll stop in the forest ahead and continue tomorrow," Dugu Qianye erged from her cultivation state, looked at the scenery outside, and said to Sang Yu and Chen Yiran.
"Sure," Sang Yu agreed, "Though we’re just passing by, I’ve never visited Gao Liang’s ho."
"Whatever you decide is fine," Chen Yiran said with a smile, at that mont, looking enchanting.
"Master, there’s a situation ahead," a Swiftwind Wolf called out to the people inside the carriage.
Dugu Qianye opened the carriage door and indeed saw a group of people fighting at the foot of the mountain ahead. Seven people in black clothes and masks were attacking two young n in brocade, with one of the attackers being a Phantom Ancestor and the rest Phantom Kings, whereas both young n were at the Advance Level of Phantom Kings.
Leaning against the carriage door, she comnted, "Yu, we’re in luck, stumbled upon an assassination."
Sang Yu also popped her head out, "Wow, it really is an assassination! More than a dozen against two, and they haven’t won yet, how shaful."
Chen Yiran patted Sang Yu’s head and asked, "Shall we intervene?"
"There’s no need for us to do anything now, let’s just watch for now," Dugu Qianye replied.
ddling in others’ affairs was not her style.
Perhaps confident in their own strength, the seven did not all engage in the fight. Instead, four of them battled while the other three watched from the side. It must be said that the pair of young n’s combat ability was far stronger than that of ordinary people, and even though they were struggling a bit in a two-on-one, they were far from looking terribly distressed.
"Seventh Master, there’s a carriage approaching," one of the n in black alerted the person in the middle.
The leader of the n in black looked over and indeed saw a carriage. Although the carriage did not look very luxurious, the Phantom Beasts pulling it were the Holy Beasts Swiftwind Wolf. A seventeen or eighteen-year-old lad was leaning by the carriage door, leisurely watching the fight, while a young girl peeked out of the carriage, seeming disinclined to intervene. However, for safety, the black-clothed leader still ordered two more n to join the battle.
"Quick battle, quick decision."
"Yes, Seventh Master."
Upon receiving the order, the two n imdiately summoned their Phantom Beasts and launched an attack on their target.
"Bang!"
A man was struck by the Phantom Power and flung in front of the beast cart.
"Tsk, tsk, he must have broken at least three ribs. He’s vomited so much blood and still isn’t dead, what a strong will to live," Sang Yu said, looking at the man thrown in front of the cart.
The people attacking him ran over. Seeing Dugu Qianye and another, they exchanged glances, then continued to assail the man. At such close range, if they hit him, he would surely die.
Am I going to die? The man thought, as he watched the three people close in on him. Ask those on the cart for help? Since they chose to be spectators, it ant they had no intention of intervening. The world was like this; he had nothing to complain about. But he had yet to see his younger brother, yet to avenge his mother. To die like this, he would die with his eyes wide open!
Another man, also surrounded, saw what was happening here and wanted to save him but was in a difficult position himself.
"Gao Ming—" the man yelled.
"Clang!"
"Aaah—"
In the blink of an eye, the situation had changed.
Death did not co, and Gao Ming opened his eyes to see those who had been attacking him lying on the ground, while the youth from the cart stood before him. The youth turned his head and asked, "Your na is Gao Ming?"
Gao Ming, clutching his chest, struggled to his feet and nodded.
"Well then, I was actually looking forward to watching the show," muttered Dugu Qianye, then said to Sang Yu, "Yu, co down and practice a bit."
Upon hearing Dugu Qianye’s words, Sang Yu agilely jumped down from the cart and started exchanging moves with the other three black-clothed n, giving Peng Shi the chance to catch his breath.
Peng Shi approached Gao Ming’s side, facing the black-clothed n.
"Does the young master plan to intervene?" the leader of the black-clothed n asked with a sinking face beneath his mask. He hadn’t expected the youth to take action.
"Yes!" Dugu Qianye nodded.
"Why?"
"Because I feel like it," Dugu Qianye responded.
The leader of the black-clothed n looked at Dugu Qianye. He couldn’t feel any Phantom Power fluctuations from her, but he did not believe she was an incapable waste who couldn’t cultivate. Glancing at his underlings, who were being one-sidedly thrashed by Sang Yu, he said unwillingly, "Retreat!"
The black-clothed n quickly left, and Dugu Qianye had no intention of pursuing further.
"Thank you both for the rescue. Hiss—," Gao Ming bowed to express his gratitude to Dugu Qianye, but involuntarily inhaled sharply due to his wounds.
"No need to be polite," Dugu Qianye nodded.
"You’re Gao Liang’s brother, right? We’re his friends," Sang Yu said. They had once heard Gao Liang talking about his older brother, Gao Ming, who cherished him deeply.
"You’re friends of Liang’er?" Gao Ming was slightly surprised. No wonder they had not intended to intervene earlier; they only acted after hearing Peng Shi call out his na.
"You’re Baili Xie and Sang Yu, right?" Gao Ming said. It was a question, but it carried certainty.
"Huh? How did you know?" Sang Yu asked.
"Liang’er talked to about you. He has very few friends, so I guessed as soon as you ntioned it," Gao Ming answered with a smile, "This is my friend Peng Shi."
