Count Theodore had already clearly explained the reasoning to Hibel. The crux of it was joining the Eternal Domain. This would not only enable them to save Anderson and his eldest daughter’s lives at a critical mont, but the old Count also aid to secure a place for the Theodore family in the future world order.
At the start of the war, the Theodore family had not provided tily aid to the Eternal Domain. Now, Count Theodore was very optimistic about Yan Xing’s future and naturally wanted to add icing to the cake.
For nobility, an individual mber must serve the family’s interests.
Even if it ans drawing a sword against one’s own kin, one must swing it decisively and without hesitation.
These were things Count Theodore couldn’t say to Yan Xing; and of course, even if Yan Xing was aware, he couldn’t acknowledge them.
It was precisely these dark aspects that noble families had to confront which put Hibel in such a foul mood.
"Don’t talk to about these grand principles. I once wanted to go to the battlefield, to beco a general, but this is not the war I had imagined.
"I can disregard the nature of the war, whether it’s just or evil, but to have to kill forr comrades-in-arms... I, I’m afraid I might not be able to do it.
"I would fail the duty my father entrusted to and cause you significant losses."
When Yan Xing learned that Count Theodore was giving Hibel to him, his primary thought was how to unleash this Champion Knight on the battlefield to rack up kills; he had indeed sowhat neglected Hibel’s personality and upbringing.
The old Count was extrely indulgent towards Hibel. He not only forbade her from going to dangerous places but also shielded her from unscrupulous sches.
From a young age, Hibel had been instilled with a traditional knight’s education, seeing only the old Count’s upright and just side.
The old Count didn’t even interfere with Hibel’s marriage, refraining from arranging any political unions, a rarity among noble families.
Therefore, Hibel had never imagined she would have to make sacrifices for the family’s interests.
This sudden demand for her to turn against her forr comrades-in-arms and Anderson indeed placed a heavy psychological burden on her.
Realizing Hibel’s current feelings, Yan Xing admitted to himself, I haven’t considered this thoroughly enough... He then said to her, "Especially when I planned for you to lead the team against the Storm Knights, I admit I didn’t take your feelings into account. I can promise you that you won’t be sent into direct combat against the Wildwind Highlands Legion. You can stay in the rear and help develop new weapons.
"After all, after defeating Anderson, I still have to face Cloud Tower. Facing the Mages in Cloud Tower, you won’t hesitate to wield your sword then, will you?"
Hibel hadn’t expected Yan Xing to resolve her concerns so readily, and her mood instantly brightened considerably.
Hand on the hilt of her knight’s sword at her waist, she confidently told Yan Xing, "Of course not! I’m very much looking forward to storming Cloud Tower with you and conquering that floating island in the sky.
"But, you said I’d stay in the rear to help with new weapon developnt? What does that entail?"
Her spirit rekindled, Hibel was like a griffon soaring high and surveying the land below, brimming with an assertive fighting spirit.
Yan Xing laughed. "You are now the strongest hero in our Eternal Domain, and you’ll be the vanguard when we attack Cloud Tower. I’m obligated to craft a set of equipnt specifically for you, one that will multiply your strength manifold.
"Do you want to co with now, or wait until daylight? I’ll take you to see the super-weapons the Eternal Domain is developing."
These so-called "super-weapons" were functional armants developed using integrated magic-alchemy technology and magic programming technology.
But even the finest equipnt requires a person to wield it.
The Eternal Domain was still in its early stages of developnt, with too few heroes possessing significant individual strength.
Yan Xing was one, Donna was another, Werewolf Olaf a third, and Elf Aranda could perhaps count as one after a little more training.
There were many strong heroes among the werewolves and lizardn of Thunderous Swamp, but Yan Xing was not currently considering involving them in the super-weapon developnt project.
In fact, by Chui Chui’s standards, Yan Xing’s current actual strength was not suitable for wielding super-weapons; he could only make do with Magic Weapons.
Although this assessnt was sowhat disheartening, it also indirectly proved how powerful the super-weapons would be once created.
Hibel was an excellent choice for testing the super-weapons, a perfect human template.
She was strong and highly talented. Furthermore, during the battle against the orcs at Anjik Fort, she had showcased her outstanding combat awareness.
It could be said that Hibel’s participation in the testing and developnt of the super-weapon project would absolutely and significantly shorten the ti needed to produce a functional prototype.
And ti was what Yan Xing lacked most.
Hibel had always been curious about the Eternal Domain’s Alchemy Technology and was also a loyal aficionado of its alchemical creations.
Watches, bicycles, motorcycles, off-road vehicles, armor, swords, firearms... she owned practically everything available on the market.
Now, hearing that the Eternal Domain was developing so kind of "super-weapons," they sounded truly formidable to her.
"As long as I have my sword, I can go anywhere at any ti.
"I’ve already bid farewell to my father.
"Atreli still needs to hand over the affairs of the Lord’s Mansion, but I can return to the Eternal Domain with you right now."
"Then let’s leave now."
Yan Xing had been delayed in Nuta City for too long and was already eager to return.
Since Hibel needed no preparation, the two imdiately mounted griffons for the return journey.
「Returning to the Eternal Domain.」
Noticing Hibel wasn’t tired, Yan Xing first instructed the servants to prepare a room for her, then took her to the Eternal Domain’s Alchemy Laboratory.
For so reason, Yan Xing felt an almost instinctive trust towards Hibel.
