Sara returned to the president’s office, unaware of the buzz on social dia. She carried a cup of coffee, and when Alex looked up, surprise flashed across his face—he hadn’t expected her back so soon. A smile tugged at his lips as the aroma of the coffee filled the room.

For a mont, ti seed to freeze as their eyes t. The intensity of his gaze unsettled Sara, but she held her ground, her steps steady and purposeful.

"I don’t rember asking for this," Alex said, briefly glancing at the ti before focusing back on her.

Reaching his desk, she placed the coffee down. "This is my way of saying thank you," she replied. "You’ve been a big help to ." Sara stepped back but stayed in place, waiting to see if he would accept the gesture. Her heart skipped when she saw his smile widen, and then he stood, pushing his chair back.

Alex walked around the desk until he stood behind her. He picked up the coffee, his hand lightly brushing her side. "I would never turn down a gift from you," he said before taking a sip. It was just like before, only with fewer marshmallows, though the taste remained unchanged. "But is this all you can offer?" he teased. "After all the effort I put into helping, I’m not sure coffee is enough."

The warmth of his presence behind her made Sara acutely aware of how close he was. Her body tensed, and to her surprise, she felt a blush rising, her heart racing at the nearness of him. Sara tried to shift, attempting to create so distance between them, but it only made things worse as Alex wrapped his arm around her, drawing her closer. His scent filled her senses, and she felt a wave of conflicting emotions.

"That’s all I can offer for now, Mr. Legend... I’ll think of sothing," she said, her voice sounding unnaturally stiff, hyper-aware of the hand that held her.

A strange sense of comfort settled over her, unsettling in its intensity. She shouldn’t feel at ease in his arms, not like this. Was her resolve so fragile that a small act of kindness could break it? Yes, he had helped her with the situation involving Mr. Goldman, but only because he already knew more than she did. So why was her body betraying her, reacting to him this way?

"There’s much more you can give," Alex said, placing the nearly empty mug on the desk. His voice was smooth, and his arms tightened around her in a full embrace. She found herself leaning into him, her body responding instinctively.

Then, a sudden realization hit her, and she quickly straightened up. "I don’t recall having anything of value here to offer, President... sir," she corrected herself, rembering their last encounter and how he had reacted when she addressed him as "president." The current situation was already awkward, and the mory of that kiss only made things worse.

"But you do," Alex whispered, his breath grazing her ear, causing her face to flush even deeper. He leaned closer, his lips brushing lightly against her ear. "Your heart. You can give that to right now if you want to, and I promise I’ll take good care of it."

Sara’s heart raced, and it took all her willpower not to press a hand to her chest. She paused to collect herself but didn’t attempt to pull away from his embrace—she knew it would be futile. Instead, she focused on steadying her thoughts and emotions. Once calm, she opened her eyes and exhaled softly.

"It would be wiser if you gave your ti, energy, love, and attention to soone else, Sir. Your attempts at seduction won’t make fall for you," she said, tilting her head slightly to glance over her shoulder, eting his gaze.

Despite her firm words, her heart stuttered as she realized how close they were. His face was just inches away, their lips nearly touching, their breaths mingling in the charged air between them.

Anyone walking in at that mont would think they were about to kiss.

The tension grew, thick and heavy, as neither of them broke eye contact. Sara could look away, but she knew even the slightest movent might bring them closer, and the possibility of their lips eting felt dangerously real.

"Why don’t you ever speak your true thoughts?" Alex’s voice was soft, his breath now even more noticeable against Sara’s skin. She shut her eyes, her mind racing, already imagining the feel of his lips grazing hers. She wished desperately that he would step back, just enough to ease the pressure building between them.

"Your body is honest," he continued, his voice a low whisper, "but your lips..." He paused, his gaze dropping to her mouth, making her even more self-conscious. "They aren’t as truthful."

In that instant, their lips t, a soft, fleeting connection that sent a shock through her. Sara’s breath caught in her throat, her body trembling from the unexpected kiss. Instinctively, her lips parted, as if awaiting more, but the kiss ended as quickly as it began, leaving her suspended in the mont, craving the contact that didn’t co.

Sara opened her eyes and found Alex’s gaze locked on her, intense and smoldering. She parted her lips to say sothing, but the words faltered, a soft stutter escaping as the embarrassnt of her own reaction washed over her. She had expected—wanted—more from the kiss, and that realization made her feel vulnerable.

"I... I’m sorry, President..." she trailed off, quickly pressing her lips together as if to guard against any more slip-ups, both in words and actions.

Alex’s lips curled into a knowing smirk. He pulled back slightly, giving her space to breathe and relax, the tension easing just enough. But the heat between them lingered, unspoken and undeniable.

"I won’t kiss you, not this ti," he said but Sara could not trust his words. "I have you in my arms now, that is enough for now," he continued and Sara wondered why the sudden change in his tone.

"You will fall for , Sara. One day, I’ll have your heart too," Alex drawled. His tone changed again. It had a seductive allure that had her heart racing. The fact that he had his hand still leisurely resting around her waist didn’t help her either.

"Try as much as you want to," the little distance between them helped her regain so of her lost strength and will and despite her body craving his touch, Sara was determined to reject him today and any other day. She couldn’t make the sa mistake again. "You won’t succeed in your seduction. NOT NOW. NOT EVER."

Alex smirked, kissed behind her ear and her body trembled, much to his satisfaction. That was all he needed to keep pursuing the stubborn woman in his arms right now. "We shall see, Miss Ambrose," he cooed and then released her. He returned to his seat and asked in a professional tone. "What is my schedule for today?"

"Huh?" Sara was stunned and temporarily unable to process his last sentence.

"You heard , what is my schedule today, Secretary Ambrose?" He repeated, stressing almost every word.
