Officer Hu was rendered speechless by the sound of Lin Rui yelling on the phone.
What’s going on?
Why did Forensic Doctor Lin get so angry at answering my call?
Even Officer Hu was left at a loss.
"L-Lin... Forensic Doctor Lin... did I call at a...bad ti?"
anwhile, Lin Rui, who was still leaning on Zhang Feng, shouted again in a thunderous roar:
"What do you think?!!"
Causing Zhang Feng, who was close to her, to tremble with awe, exclaiming: "The tiger from the mountain is indeed frightening."
Emm...
That’s not what matters now.
Lin Rui, with Zhang Feng’s help, managed to sit up.
She spoke into the phone with a mix of resignation and exasperation:
"Go on, what’s up this ti?"
Lin Rui’s initial furious outburst made Officer Hu hesitant to speak at all.
But the urgency of the case compelled Officer Hu to continue speaking despite his nerves:
"Forensic Doctor Lin... um... sorry to disturb your rest again, but... there’s been an incident in D City, and we had no choice but to contact you."
"Old Ma from D City’s criminal investigation contacted , saying they found seven headless corpses. The case is extrely complicated. They hope we could bring so forensic experts for support."
"You see...."
This wasn’t sothing up for negotiation.
The seriousness of the case made it a mission.
But Lin Rui’s earlier anger left Officer Hu anxious, understandably so.
Fortunately, Lin Rui realized the severity of the situation and cald down. She replied seriously:
"Seven headless corpses?!!"
"What kind of shocking case is this?!"
Zhang Feng, next to her, sat up too, a strange gleam flickering in his eyes.
Officer Hu continued over the phone:
"Indeed, this incident has alerted the provincial authorities, prompting the criminal investigation teams from nearby cities to collaborate with D City and solve the case as soon as possible."
"Alright, got it. Zhang Feng and I are on standby."
Lin Rui nodded, asking:
"When are we heading to D City?"
Officer Hu breathed a sigh of relief and said:
"Tomorrow morning at nine."
But the very next second.
Lin Rui’s thunderous roar erupted again:
"If we’re leaving tomorrow, why call now?!!"
The sudden outburst almost made Officer Hu drop the phone.
Hastily, he ended the call.
Worried Lin Rui might start swearing next.
Unbeknownst to him, this was the second ti he interrupted Lin Rui’s good ti.
The first ti was naturally at the branch office, where Lin Rui was already losing control.
This second ti, even Zhang Feng had decided not to defy a woman’s will, and Lin Rui had completely lost control.
Once again, Officer Hu’s call interrupted everything.
How could anyone justify this?
Of course, Lin Rui could have continued with Zhang Feng after hanging up the phone.
But after all, they had only known each other for two days.
If it was as impulsive as going with the flow, surely there would be no problem.
But now.
A shocking case involving seven headless corpses!
Could Forensic Doctors Zhang Feng and Lin Rui really remain impulsive now?
Zhang Feng also said:
"Director Lin, we haven’t rested in two days. We’ll be heading to D City soon, get so rest."
Lin Rui gave Zhang Feng a resentful look and replied:
"With such a big case, we’ll certainly be busy in D City... you should rest soon too..."
After saying this, Lin Rui walked towards her room.
Before entering, she lingeringly glanced back at Zhang Feng.
But Zhang Feng didn’t notice this scene.
He was already deep in thought about the issue of the seven headless corpses.
After the prior two examinations.
He just needed to represent the victims, speak on their behalf, and voice their grievances.
He would then be infused with a massive amount of spiritual Qi for cultivation by so mysterious power.
Those seven bodies were seven victims!
Zhang Feng even felt an enormous wave of spiritual Qi flowing towards him!
It seed that regaining his forr strength was just around the corner!!
On the other side, Officer Hu finally realized the cause of Lin Rui’s anger:
"Forensic Doctor Lin... could she be with Zhang Feng right now?"
"Did I interrupt sothing between them again?"
"Oh dear! Old Hu, old Hu, what do you think you’re doing?!"
Just as he was lanting!
A subordinate from the branch’s criminal investigation team rushed in and quickly reported to Officer Hu:
"Chief, we’ve identified the victim!"
"He indeed had a wife who suddenly moved back to her rural hotown at the beginning of last month!"
"What?!"
Hearing this news, Officer Hu stood up, a deep light flashing in his eyes:
"Beginning of last month? Doesn’t that coincide with the ti of death estimated by Forensic Doctor Lin and Xiao Zhang?"
"Her husband died, and she didn’t report it, but fled to the countryside?!"
The subordinate too replied gravely:
"The possibility of murdering her husband and fleeing can’t be ruled out. We’ve already listed her as the pri suspect! Ready to capture at any mont!"
However, the subordinate failed to notice the strange look in Officer Hu’s eyes.
Entirely absorbed in his own thoughts, Officer Hu mumbled to himself:
"Could Xiao Zhang have been right after all?"
"Crushing sleeping pills into dough to feed the victim? What kind of bizarre modus operandi is this?!"
"Chief?"
It was the subordinate’s voice that shattered Officer Hu’s daydream.
Coming back to his senses, Officer Hu didn’t hesitate and sternly ordered:
"Pass down my order!"
"Imdiately proceed with capturing the suspect, and be cautious; the suspect may have other accomplices! Apprehend them all!!"
Under the cover of night, Officer Hu personally led the team, making their way to the suspect’s hideout.
anwhile, Zhang Feng, lying in the guest room arranged by Lin Rui, opened his eyes.
A peculiar gleam danced in his still bright eyes at night.
Sitting up on the bed, Zhang Feng muttered to himself softly with a hint of doubt:
"Sothing’s off, why does my eyelid keep twitching?"
"Feels like sothing’s about to happen...."
With this in mind, Zhang Feng raised his left hand and, much like before when deducing a thief, calculated.
His gaze briefly shone: "Officer Hu?"
He swiftly resud the calculation.
His thumb halted, observing where his finger rested, Zhang Feng’s voice turned solemn:
"Void?!"
"Not good, Officer Hu might be in danger tonight!"
After all, Officer Hu was a colleague and a renowned veteran detective in B City.
He’d solved nurous cases and was a hero of public safety in B City.
If sothing happened to soone like him... it would be one thing if he hadn’t sensed it, but now that he had, would it be right to sit by and do nothing...that’s hardly appropriate, is it?
Consequently, Zhang Feng swiftly threw off the covers and slipped out of room.
Without disturbing Lin Rui, he hurried alone to the branch office.
Seeing Zhang Feng arrive, the officer on duty at the branch showed great curiosity:
"Forensic Doctor Zhang, it’s so late, haven’t you rested yet?"
Zhang Feng didn’t answer but instead quickly inquired:
"Where is Officer Hu?"
The duty officer clearly hesitated for a mont but shook his head and replied:
"Seems like their cri investigation team is out on a mission, but I don’t know where."
Zhang Feng pondered briefly, unsure...
Lowering his head for a quick calculation, his eyes flashed: "Southeast direction!"
Without another word, he turned and left the branch office.
Ti was pressing...
Zhang Feng swiftly slipped into a dark corner, looking around to ensure there were no people or surveillance caras.
Lowering both palms, releasing clear energy upwards: "Star Stepping!"
With a "whoosh!" Zhang Feng transford into a rainbow streak, vanishing from the spot.
The earlier duty officer belatedly erged from within:
"Forensic Doctor Zhang, is there sothing happening? I’ll drive you... eh? Where is he?!"
"Whoa! Did I just see a ghost?!"
