Chapter 222: Chapter 178: The Wishes in the Divine Fortune
Waking Chen Cheng up the next day wasn’t necessarily the morning sunshine of Gunma Prefecture.
Nor was it necessarily the $130 million in interest from a 29.98% daily interest rate.
Rather, it was i Xiang, who was skillfully clumsy and hiding in the blankets.
Chen Cheng sleepily opened his eyes and looked at her making an effort, “You’re up so early?”
i Xiang raised her eyes, her lips curling into a happy smile.
Chen Cheng steadied himself, gazing at her elegantly simple makeup and embracing her, “Why don’t you sleep a little longer?”
i Xiang leaned against Chen Cheng’s chest, tracing circles with her index finger, “I wanted to get up early, to be with you.”
Chen Cheng smiled indulgently, and kissed her forehead, “What ti is it?”
“Half past nine.”
i Xiang replied, “I’ll take you out today, is that okay?”
“Sure.”
i Xiang smiled brightly, propping herself up, “Then wait a mont, I’ll get ready.”
“Okay.”
After getting dressed, Chen Cheng walked to the sliding door.
i Xiang was already kneeling there respectfully, submissively placing slippers by Chen Cheng’s feet, “Brother Cheng, your toiletries are in the bathroom.”
Chen Cheng casually put them on, helped her up, pinched her chubby little face, and then headed toward the affection-filled room from last night.
The toothpaste was already squeezed out; a cup with just the right temperature of water was placed nearby.
On the washstand, there lay a neatly folded clean towel.
And by the mirror, a brand new razor and even aftershave were all prepared.
Looking at all this, a warm current surged in Chen Cheng’s heart.
This seemingly fragile girl touched him with her ticulous thoughts.
After washing up, Chen Cheng walked out of the bathroom.
Strolling down the long corridor, the breeze was gentle, as if life had completely slowed down.
In the dining room, two exquisite breakfasts were ready, both Japanese and Western.
Golden-brown toast, perfectly fried eggs, and steaming hot milk.
Rice, natto, tofu, miso soup, and tamagoyaki were also a must.
Chen Cheng sat cross-legged, but i Xiang was nowhere to be seen.
He took a sip of milk, and just then i Xiang ca out of the kitchen, carrying a small bowl.
“Brother Cheng, I made you a bowl of noodles.”
i Xiang placed the small bowl in front of Chen Cheng, “The tomatoes are from the backyard, and the eggs are from our chicken coop.”
A simple bowl of tomato and egg noodles indeed whetted Chen Cheng’s appetite.
These past few days, eating only sushi, ran, and sashimi had been a little hard to adapt to.
But this specially cooked, not quite authentic Chinese dish gave Chen Cheng a rare feeling of comfort.
“This is my first attempt. I’ll keep learning!” i Xiang handed him so chopsticks.
Chen Cheng took them, lifting so noodles to his mouth.
The combination of tomato and egg couldn’t go wrong, especially since it was a labor of i Xiang’s love, Chen Cheng ate it with great satisfaction.
“Delicious, impressive.” He gave a thumbs up.
i Xiang, slightly embarrassed by the praise, covered her mouth and giggled lightly, “I’ll do even better.”
“Let’s eat together.” Chen Cheng invited.
“Alright.”
The two sat facing each other, seeing themselves reflected in each other’s eyes, a quiet sense of happiness spread through the air.
“Miss, here’s today’s newspaper.”
A servant outside handed in a copy of “Japan Financial News” on a tray, then bowed and retreated.
The newspaper industry in this country is more resilient than the local n.
The rise of the online new dia hasn’t led to the demise of the print dia industry; instead, it enjoys a very high subscription rate.
Even with a loyal readership that has subscribed for up to half a century, for decades Japanese families have started their mornings by eating breakfast while reading the freshly delivered newspaper—it has beco their routine.
i Xiang looked at today’s front-page headline, her face beaming with joy.
Although Chen Cheng couldn’t understand Japanese, he recognized the photo on it, which was from the signing event with i Xiang yesterday.
“What does it say?” he asked.
i Xiang moved closer to Chen Cheng, pointed at the headline text, first read it in Japanese, then translated it into Chinese: “The Mysterious Financial Ultimate Dragon—Chen Cheng!”
Chen Cheng raised an eyebrow, “That sounds pretty chuunibyou.”
i Xiang put down the newspaper, “Brother Cheng, don’t you like it?”
Chen Cheng chuckled, reaching out to lightly flick her nose, “What I like is the little i Xiang who cooked tomato and egg noodles.”
i Xiang giggled, like a little girl who had just received a candy reward.
…
…
Just like Xia Yubing loves Nara because of One Piece, Gunma Prefecture, i Xiang’s hotown, was the filming location for “Initial D.”
Yesterday Chen Cheng was in a hurry and didn’t explore properly; today, as he strolled around, he realized that everywhere he looked bore traces of this ani.
Even the manhole covers on the road were stamped with AE86.
i Xiang, wearing denim shorts and a simple pink T-shirt, held Chen Cheng’s arm, showing him the place where she grew up.
“Brother Cheng, have you seen ‘Initial D’?”
Chen Cheng thought for a while, “I watched the movie first.”
“I went to see it because of JAY, and only afterward did I realize it was based on an ani.” Chen Cheng said softly, his tone nostalgic.
“I especially love this ani!”
i Xiang spoke excitedly, “I like every character in it, especially Tuo Hai, he’s so cool!”
Watching i Xiang’s eyes shine with admiration, Chen Cheng couldn’t help but tease:
“Really? Then between , the mysterious financial ultimate dragon, and him, the Qiuming Mountain car god, who’s cooler?”
i Xiang was montarily stunned, then her cheeks flushed as she retorted shyly, “Of course, the ultimate dragon is the coolest!”
“Awooo~” i Xiang adorably exclaid.
