Chapter 99: 99: The ancestor saw a person

Jiangli sat steadily in the back, while Zhang ijuan’s heart was full of trepidation. She didn’t know if her approach was foolish, but now she could only try to cure a dead horse as though it were alive.

Noticing she kept looking at him, Jiangli blinked, “Do you feel uncomfortable sowhere?”

Zhang ijuan was stunned for a mont, then imdiately shook her head, her expression sowhat panicked, “No, no…”

“Oh, you’re not long pregnant, be careful,” Jiangli reminded her mildly.

“…”

Zhang ijuan’s pupils suddenly dilated, and she slamd on the brakes, the tires making a piercing screech against the pavent.

The next second, the car ca to a halt.

Luckily, they had just set off, so the inertia from the ergency stop wasn’t strong.

Zhang ijuan leaned forward a bit, then sat back. She couldn’t afford to be scared after the fact and quickly turned to look at Jiangli, her eyes rimd with urgency.

“Abbot, what, what did you just say? Am I, am I pregnant?”

Jiangli nodded, his gaze falling on the area beneath her eyes, “Your eyes are red, and your palace of husband and wife is dim, but your children’s palace is lustrous and full, with a hint of light. It truly is the countenance of soone with a child. The gleam in the bottom of your eyes suggests you’re likely not more than two months pregnant.”

Watching Zhang ijuan freeze up, Jiangli questioned with a hint of suspicion, “Didn’t you know?”

Zhang ijuan shakily raised her hand, tentatively touching her stomach, tears suddenly spilling out.

“So, so this is the last gift…”

Jiangli watched her cry, raised his eyebrow, and, noticing a tissue beside her, took one and passed it over, “You shouldn’t cry when pregnant, it can harm your health, and it’s not good for the fetus.”

Zhang ijuan quickly took the tissue, wiping away her tears in a fluster, her tone filled with disbelief, “Abbot, is this, is this true?”

“It seems you really didn’t know,” Jiangli stretched out his hand, “Alright, if you don’t believe it, I can take your pulse for you, or you could go to your hospital to check. It should be accurate.”

Zhang ijuan, upon hearing this, wanted to cry but feared harming her body. She dabbed at her tears while blinking quickly, trying to hold them back.

“I’ll, I’ll go to the hospital later to check…”

Jiangli humd in response, “So, do you still want to go find your husband now?”

At those words, Zhang ijuan snapped back to reality, took a deep breath, and said through clenched teeth, “We must look, even more so now! I need to let my child know who killed his father!”

Jiangli remained noncommittal.

Zhang ijuan collected herself, restarted the car, and drove with even more determination than before, her eyes brighter.

The two of them quickly arrived at the site of Qiang Hongtao’s car accident.

Qiang Hongtao had just returned from a business trip not long before and, as usual, went to report back to the company from the airport, then drove his car from the company’s garage to co ho.

Since his business trip had been urgent, he had left directly from the company, leaving his car parked there the whole ti, so he had to drive it back.

Three days ago, there had been a torrential downpour in the city.

The drive from Qiang Hongtao’s company to his ho covered a long distance, requiring over half an hour by car.

During the journey, there was a stretch of road where the surveillance was broken.

Moreover, due to the heavy rain, there weren’t many people around, thus there were hardly any witnesses.

“Abbot, this is the place,” Zhang ijuan said as she got out of the car with Jiangli, pointing at an intersection ahead.

Although it was a newly built road, the surrounding infrastructure was still from over a decade ago and sowhat outdated, having failed to keep up.

Jiangli walked beside Zhang ijuan towards it, looking ahead and then pausing.

On the left-hand side of the intersection’s sidewalk, a man drenched in a mix of blood and rainwater paced back and forth, stopping and starting as if looking for sothing.

Water dripped continuously from his person, murky and foul-slling.

Yet he seed utterly unaware, his eyes lifeless as he walked, his expression fraught with urgency.
