Chapter 677: Chapter 677: The Oddity of the Ancestral Patriarch

Jiangli instantly felt awkward and said, “No need, no need, that’s not what I ant. I was just asking casually.”

Fu Shiyan raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips curving slightly, “Can I go out now?”

Jiangli quickly nodded, “Mr. Fu, please feel free.”

Seeing her as if she were facing a great enemy, Fu Shiyan chuckled softly, giving Jiangli a aningful glance.

Before he left, he dropped a sentence with a rising tone.

“Don’t be nervous, I won’t eat you up.”

Jiangli was stunned, and before she could regain her composure, Fu Shiyan had already carried the soup bowl and walked out of the room.

Watching the room door open and then close.

Jiangli touched her earlobe and hissed, feeling a complex mix of emotions.

What that feeling was, she couldn’t articulate at the mont.

Perhaps it was because she had absorbed quite a bit of luck recently, she felt her heartbeat was inexplicably fast.

Jiangli couldn’t help but rub her chest and check her pulse to make sure everything was normal before she felt relieved.

When Fu Shiyan returned, it was a few minutes later, and he brought an elderly couple with him.

The couple each carried dishes of food, and after delivering them into the room and smiling kindly at Jiangli, they left.

Fu Shiyan walked over, looked at Jiangli who was still sitting by the bed, and stretched out his hand with a gentle voice, “Ti to eat.”

Jiangli subconsciously placed her hand in his.

Fu Shiyan grasped her hand and pulled her up.

Only then did Jiangli have ti to properly observe the layout of the room.

It was a typical ancient-style room, with a hall in the center upon entering, and both sides separated into two distinct areas by beaded curtains and drapes.

Jiangli had been sitting on the western bedside, there was a table and chairs in the middle hall, and on the opposite eastern side, there was a writing desk, looking like a study.

The room was quite spacious.

It was much larger than the house Jiangli had lived in before.

Jiangli clicked her tongue, followed by Fu Shiyan’s side to the table, and then asked, “This estate must be worth quite a bit, Mr. Fu truly is a wealthy man.”

Fu Shiyan served her a bowl of soup and placed it in front of her, “It’s been passed down from my ancestors.”

Jiangli looked around, “I can see that. It does feel a bit antiquated… ”

However, for so reason, Jiangli felt that this place seed eerily familiar.

But logically speaking, she shouldn’t have been here before.

She didn’t have any mories of being here either.

“What are you thinking about?” Seeing her lost in thought, Fu Shiyan handed her the chopsticks and couldn’t help but ask.

Jiangli snapped back to reality, took the chopsticks, “Nothing much, just noticing how big this estate is.”

Fu Shiyan gave a light smile, “Do you like it? If you do, you can stay a few more days.”

To Jiangli, these things were inconsequential. She didn’t have anything more urgent at the mont, so she said, “Since Mr. Fu has invited, I would be amiss to refuse. By the way, Mr. Fu, where is Xia Xin?”

After waking up, Jiangli had looked everywhere but hadn’t seen Xia Xin.

If Xia Xin had known she was awake, he would probably have scurried over.

Fu Shiyan: “He should be resting, so I didn’t go to disturb him.”

Jiangli made an ‘oh’ sound and didn’t think much of it, “He must have been scared too. I didn’t expect to suddenly be stricken like this.”

Fu Shiyan paused for a mont, and his gaze towards Jiangli beca probing, “I had a doctor co to examine Lili. He ntioned that you had been seriously injured before. Is there such an incident?”

Jiangli picked up the soup bowl, preparing to drink, and when she heard this, her eyes flickered. Then, as if nothing had happened, she took a sip of the soup before saying, “There was such an incident.”

Fu Shiyan’s frown was barely perceptible, “What caused the serious injury?”

Jiangli shrugged, “I forgot. My mories from before are mostly gone. I can’t rember much. It was probably like this ti, being too careless and underestimating the situation, I guess.”
