Capítulo 1293: Chapter 1293: Not Coming Back
Jiangli looked at He Ruoi, “Mrs. Wu—”
He Ruoi was bowing her head, all her attention focused on the contents of the cabinet.
Suddenly hearing a voice, she jumped in shock, slamd the cabinet shut, stood up with a start, and turned to Jiangli, eyes filled with suspicion and worry.
“You, how did you get in here?”
Jiangli blinked and smiled innocently, “I ca over to see if there’s anything I could help with. What were you doing just now, Mrs. Wu?”
He Ruoi leaned against the cabinet and shook her head quickly, “No, not doing anything, just tidying up a bit.”
Jiangli made a sound of acknowledgnt and asked, “Do you need my help with that?”
He Ruoi imdiately replied without thinking, “No, no need, everything’s been tidied up just fine.”
Jiangli took a step forward, “Then let help you prepare the ingredients. Are these the ones to be used?”
She pointed at the chunks of at on the table.
He Ruoi imdiately shielded the pieces of at, “No, I don’t need you, I can handle it myself. These pieces have too much blood; don’t want to dirty your clothes.”
While speaking, she seed to realize her reaction was too intense.
She pointed to the vegetables on the other side of the sink, “If you really want to help, there are a lot of vegetables there. Please help wash them.”
Jiangli smiled slightly, “Okay, I’ll help.”
She walked over, picked up the vegetables from the counter, and started selecting and washing them.
He Ruoi glanced at her expression, seeing nothing unusual, and let out a small sigh of relief, quickly placing the pieces of at in a bowl beside her, deliberately turning the cutting board to a different direction to avoid Jiangli’s sight, and started handling them.
Jiangli noticed out of the corner of her eye but said nothing, focusing on washing the vegetables.
A quick glance, however, revealed what seed like traces of blood in the gaps of the sink drain.
Jiangli slightly narrowed her eyes but did not make it obvious.
In no ti, Jiangli finished dealing with all the vegetables.
He Ruoi had also sliced the at and taken out so rolls of beef and mutton from the refrigerator.
Jiangli, seeing this, curiously asked, “Aren’t there already plenty of ats? Why take out so much beef and mutton?”
He Ruoi laughed dryly, “Those chunks are pork, not as tasty as beef and mutton. I added more beef and mutton for flavor.”
Jiangli acknowledged with an “Oh,” “Then I can help you carry it out?”
He Ruoi hesitated for a mont, agreed, and handed the tray full of various ats to Jiangli.
Jiangli took it and carried it out of the kitchen.
He Ruoi watched her back, exhaled a breath of relief, turned around, and just as she was about to fetch the cutlery, the cabinet door suddenly swung open.
A stream of bloody water flowed out.
He Ruoi’s expression tightened, she grabbed the towel from above the cabinet, quickly wiped up the blood, closed the cabinet door tightly, and then took the cutlery to follow out.
…
At the sa ti.
Xun Tianhai and Yu Misheng, along with others, were still at Wu Jianhan’s inn.
Hearing that Jiangli wasn’t coming back tonight, Yu Misheng hesitantly asked, “She’s not coming back, did she find any clues at He Ruoi’s place?”
Xun Tianhai shrugged, “That wasn’t ntioned. Hongyao just said the Abbot was a bit tired and didn’t want to keep running around, so they just wanted to rest at He Ruoi’s place for the night.”
Yu Misheng furrowed his brow, appearing sowhat suspicious.
Shortly after, he stood up, “Since there’s nothing else, I’ll head back first.”
Xun Tianhai, hearing this, deliberately said, “Mr. Yu isn’t going to check around here more?”
Yu Misheng said expressionlessly, “No need.”
With that, he left with the people from Sang Country.
Xun Tianhai pouted.
