Still! She couldn’t think about that at the mont. The only thing that kept resounding in her head were the words he had spoken to her.

"You are a fucking fool!" The look in his eyes had terrified her, especially since he had never looked at her like that before.

Touching her belly, she couldn’t help but reiterate to herself, aware that she was giving everything else away just to be able to be with him.

He loves ! she muttered under her breath, even as she pushed the door to her room open.

A sll she hadn’t picked up on before, due to her wandering thoughts, was suddenly the only thing she could perceive.

Sothing her werewolf senses should have easily detected, especially since it was sothing she was particularly sensitive to.

Blood! She froze on the spot as she stared at two dead bodies and the endless pools of blood around the guard.

She was used to violence, but she just wasn’t used to it from William. At first, she was taken aback before her mind finally settled as she stared at the scene in front of her.

He loves ! she again thought to herself, imagining how he must have panicked when he suddenly thought that she was missing or had been taken.

Yes, she was a bit sad that the servants and guard had died, but again, it was the least of her concerns. No longer walking into her room, she headed upstairs straight for William’s instead.

Her heart raced more than before, unsure if it was from excitent or anticipation over what she was going to say to William—and what he was going to say to her.

Still, it wasn’t long before she knocked on his door, not surprised when she didn’t hear even a single word or gesture asking her to enter, even after waiting for a while.

The next mont, she imdiately walked in with the potion in her hand, only to almost freeze in shock as a knife was flung at her right as she took a step in—one that barely missed her by a hair’s breadth.

William leaned against the table, almost like he had been waiting for her to show up, even as he raised his head to look at her. Fiona stared back at him, her expression filled with imnse shock.

"William!" she snapped, calling his na with a fierce look on her face, only to watch him raise another knife from the table and toss it right at her.

Fiona had no intention of dodging, and this ti, she was shocked to watch it fly right by her—close enough to nick her skin—before the knife embedded itself in the wall with the sheer force William had used to throw it.

This ti, Fiona was much calr as she stepped forward, ignoring William’s hard gaze on her face. She stretched out her hand, offering him the potion with a smile.

"It’s real! You can test it out first if you don’t believe it!" Fiona told him, only to watch William’s gaze morph into infinite anger as he glowered at her.

"...And what did you sell just to get it? Or am I to believe that the man who poisoned would suddenly want to live?"

"Sell? Father agreed that both of you could be allies! He gave it to willingly!" she assured him, but William only responded with a dry chuckle as he glared at her and stood to his full height, a good foot taller than her.

"I want you to be better and stronger. That way—" But she was still speaking when she felt a sharp pain against her cheek, a huge force jerking her face to the side as he slapped her.

It was sudden, and even as Fiona touched her face, it was hard to process the fact that William had just hit her.

But still, in the sa breath, without so much as raising her head to ask him why or showing a shocked expression on her face, she raised her hand and slapped him right back.

It wasn’t with much force, but whoever said that slapping was about violence? It had more to do with humiliation than pain.

Her eyes were filled with imnse hurt, and William’s gaze held nothing but unadulterated anger as he stepped forward. But Fiona didn’t step back as she spoke.

"If you ever raise your hand to hit again, I’m leaving!" she told him, even though her heart trembled within her as she said the words.

Where would she go? The mont she left and returned to Eldric, she would have no choice but to submit to his will—sothing she was done with.

At that mont, she realized that although she had the finest jewelry, clothes, and luxuries, she had no money.

Even the cards Eldric had given her held only enough money to survive the month, and William’s own was worse, as she realized that although she lived with him, she actually lived at his rcy.

Turning to the side, she placed the potion on the table and continued to speak.

"We need so ti apart. I need so money," she stated, her back still straight and her head still raised. She turned to look back at him, only to be taken aback by the gaze he returned—one filled with killing intent, sothing she understood all too well, having once held it herself.

"William, what—" she began to speak, only to watch him dash forward, grabbing the potion and tossing it to the ground.

Fiona was too stunned to speak until she felt him grab her hair—hard enough to make her scream as she tried to rip his hold off but was unable to, only causing herself more pain.

The pain worsened as William dragged her out of the room by her long hair, even as Fiona scread at him with all the fury she could muster.

All the way to the dungeon, she yelled and scread, calling him mad.

She was hurt, but beyond that, she was scared as she realized that not only had William broken his one chance at survival, but he was also treating her like she was trash.

Tossing her into the dark and dreary dungeon with a blank expression on his face—which Fiona could barely see—she scread at him.

"How dare you!!!"

"How dare you—" Only to be slapped once again, hard enough for blood to stream from her mouth and for one of her teeth to be knocked loose.

"You’ll heal! The doctor particularly said that it’s hard for female werewolves to miscarry because of their regenerative powers. As a lesson—you’ll spend the night here!"

Her mouth was swollen and bleeding as she stared at him like she was looking at a stranger she had never seen before.

Are—are you mad? Tears welled in her eyes as she ignored her own pain for just a second, focusing instead on the anger that ca with it.

You will die! she told him, only to be shocked by his response.

"Yes! I will die... chuck it up to being crazy. But before then, you’ll do as I say and nothing else!" he ordered, locking the cell before walking away.

If ever there were conflicting feelings, it was what Fiona felt rumbling up all the way to her throat as she choked back tears.

There was no longer an antidote, and William was clearly dying. The man she loved and the father of her child was going to die.

Yet, at the sa ti, the man she loved had just hit her, treating her like her father did... it hurt, but wasn’t she used to it?

He loves ! she thought as she curled into a ball on the ground, silent tears flowing down her face.

He loves , but he’s dying...

THAT’S WHY HE HIT !
