Emma’s POV
The parking lot was nearly empty.
Perfect timing. Just like I’d planned.
I threw my bag into the back seat. Slid behind the wheel. Started the engine.
My hands were shaking. Not from fear. From excitent.
I’d done it. Actually done it.
Seraphina’s face flashed through my mind. That destroyed expression. Those broken eyes. The way she’d called my baby a bastard.
I smiled.
It was all paying off.
Sera thought Damien had betrayed her. Thought he’d chosen . Thought their marriage was over.
By tomorrow, the divorce papers would be signed. Damien would be free. And I’d be there. Ready. Waiting.
With his "baby."
I pulled out of the parking lot. Headed toward the highway. Back to Millbrook. Back to my safe house where I could wait out the rest of this pregnancy.
My phone buzzed.
Lucas.
My stomach dropped.
I stared at his na on the screen. My cousin. My blood. The one person in this pack who actually gave a shit about .
Why was he calling?
I let it go to voicemail. Started driving faster.
The phone buzzed again. Text this ti.
**Lucas: Emma, where are you? Need to talk.**
My heart hamred. This wasn’t good. Lucas never texted . We weren’t that close. Hadn’t been for years.
So why now?
Unless...
Unless Damien had told him sothing. Unless Damien suspected. Unless everything was falling apart.
No. No, that wasn’t possible. Damien didn’t know anything. Couldn’t know anything.
Gabriel and I had been too careful. Too thorough. Every detail perfect. Every piece of evidence exactly where it needed to be.
There was no way Damien could figure it out.
My phone buzzed again.
**Lucas: It’s important. Call back.**
I ignored it. Kept driving. Faster now. The highway stretched ahead. Dark. Empty.
Just forty more minutes. Forty minutes and I’d be safe. Back in Millbrook. Back where no one could find .
Then I’d text Gabriel. Let him know what happened with Sera. Let him know Phase Three was complete.
All that was left was waiting. Waiting for the baby. Waiting for Damien to crumble completely. Waiting for Gabriel to swoop in and take everything.
And ? I’d be Luna. Finally. After all these years of waiting. Of watching. Of loving soone who never looked at .
I’d be Luna.
My phone rang again. Lucas again.
"Fuck off," I muttered. Declined the call.
I pulled over. Parked on the shoulder. Stared at my phone.
My fingers hovered over the screen.
Then another text ca through.
"I need you to co to the pack house. Now."
"What? Why?"
"Just trust . It’s important."
I stared at the phone. My heart racing. My mind spinning.
This was bad. This was very bad.
Lucas knew sothing. Or Damien knew sothing. Or both.
I needed to warn Gabriel. Needed to figure out what the hell was happening before everything fell apart.
I opened my ssages. Started typing to Gabriel.
**: Sothing’s wrong. Lucas is acting weird. Asking to co to the pack house. I think Damien might know**
Headlights appeared in my rearview mirror.
Bright. Too bright. Coming fast.
The car pulled up behind . Stopped. Blocked in.
Shit.
I watched in the mirror as the driver’s door opened. Soone got out.
Not Lucas.
Soone bigger. Broader. Moving with purpose.
My door yanked open.
I scread.
"Get out." The voice was male. Deep. Unfamiliar.
"No! I’m pregnant! You can’t just"
Hands grabbed . Pulled from the car. Not rough. But firm. Absolutely certain.
I tried to fight. Tried to pull away.
"Let go! I’m calling the police! I’ll"
"Ma’am, please don’t make this difficult."
There were three of them. All wearing black. All standing between and my car.
Pack security. Had to be.
"I’m pregnant!" I tried again. Louder. Desperate. "You can’t do this! I’m carrying the Alpha’s baby!"
"We know." The first man gestured to a black SUV parked behind my car. "The Alpha is expecting you."
My blood turned to ice.
"I don’t... I need to go ho. I’m not feeling--"
"Ma’am." The man’s voice was patient. Too patient. "This isn’t a request."
"But I’m pregnant! I need my doctor! I can’t--"
"You can ride with us peacefully." He stepped closer. "Or we can carry you. Your choice."
I looked at my car. At the highway stretching in both directions. At the three n blocking every escape route.
There was no way out.
"Fine." The word ca out strangled. "Fine. I’ll go."
My phone buzzed in the pocket. Must be Gabriel’s burner. Trying to reach .
Too late. Way too late.
One of the n in black stepped forward. His voice professional. Detached.
"Ma’am, we need to go. Now."
I stood on shaking legs. No choice. No options left.
He gestured toward the SUV. "After you."
I climbed in. The door closed behind . Locked.
All of it falling apart.
The man in the passenger seat turned around. Looked at . His expression unreadable.
"The Alpha is waiting for you."
He paused. Let the words sink in.
"Isn’t that what you wanted all along?"
