Silas’s POV
As Van reached and was about to say sothing, Shine’s phone suddenly rang. My attention shifted to him as he picked up the call. I had no idea who was calling him.
"Hello? Yes, Dad. Yeah, I’m on the way. I’ve already arrived in our pack, and I’m heading ho now. Don’t worry. Yes, don’t worry about ."
Just from his tone, it was clear—Shine’s family had called him, telling him to co ho.
And he was lying, saying he was already on the way when, in reality, he was still standing inside my house.
After hanging up, he walked over to as well.
"Silas, I’m sorry. I have to go too. My dad just called back."
"Don’t worry, you can go. Your parents must be worried since you didn’t go back ho."
I understood why Shine’s parents would be concerned. He had co with to the Lupin Pack, and in that pack, there was no signal.
They must have tried calling him, but the calls wouldn’t have gone through. Of course, they’d be worried.
I didn’t have anyone who would worry about . As i was thinking shine suddenly said.
"But Silas, I’ll leave only after this priest leaves."
I glanced at Van after hearing that.
"Okay, okay. I’ll excuse myself then," Van said with a small smile before turning to . "Silas, if you ever need anything, just co to the temple or call ."
"The thing is, my phone is broken, so I can’t contact you. But you can give your number," I replied.
I went into my bedroom and then ca back out. I handed him a piece of paper and a pen.
He quickly scribbled down his number, and in the blink of an eye—after giving a small wave—he disappeared.
"Oh, so your friend really was a priest. But I have to go now. Silas, take care of yourself, okay? And about your phone, I’ll ask the company to provide you with a new one."
"No need to ask, Shine, because I’m not going to work for that company anymore."
As those words left my mouth, Shine’s eyes widened.
"What do you an you’re not going to work for the company anymore, Silas?"
"I know you’re the manager the company assigned to , but there are a lot of reasons why I can’t work there anymore."
Shine kept pressing for answers, and in the end, I told him everything—what happened today, how I was called in, how Kael pushed , how he crushed my hand, and the way they all looked at with suspicion.
It was Kael who broke my phone. And then there were Damon’s words too.
After hearing everything, Shine was even angrier than I was.
"Don’t worry, Silas. I’ll find another company for you. There are plenty of companies that want to work with you. And as for the contract, I’ll talk to my friend—he’s a great attorney. He’ll help us."
I didn’t expect Shine to help like this. In the end, he was even willing to leave his job for and move to another company.
I thought he was Damon’s classmate, so of course, he would say, If you want to leave, then go ahead.
But instead, he’s ready to leave with . And he even said his friend, a great attorney, will help us.
We talked for more than ten minutes, and our conversation didn’t seem to be stopping.
But I knew his parents must be waiting for him, so I sent him off, telling him we’d talk tomorrow.
As he left, I locked the door and sat down on the sofa. My body was exhausted.
I wanted to sleep, but for so reason, I just sat there. A strange feeling was growing inside . I felt anxious, nervous—for no reason at all.
"I think I should drink so cold water to cool myself down."
I stood up from the sofa and went into the kitchen. After opening the fridge, I found frozen food and water bottles inside.
I grabbed a bottle and gulped down the water. After that, I stepped into the bedroom and saw that Velric had woken up.
He was rubbing his eyes while sitting on the bed. I quickly went to him.
"My boy, you’re awake? It’s still night. Why don’t you sleep a little more?"
"Mumma... I want to go pee."
I picked up Velric and took him to the bathroom. When we were coming out, I noticed dirt in his hair.
That’s when I realized he hadn’t taken a bath in the last few days—just like .
But since it was already the middle of the night, if we bathed now, we would surely catch a cold.
I put Velric on the bed, deciding that we would take a bath tomorrow morning.
I also needed to sleep now, or else I wouldn’t be able to wake up on ti.
As I lay down on the bed, Velric suddenly grabbed my hand. I glanced at him.
"Mumma..."
"Yes, my boy?"
"I’m hungry," he said in such a low voice, as if he was afraid I would get angry.
"Do you want to eat dumplings?"
"Yes! Yes!"
Aww, this cutie pie. I quickly helped him get off the bed and grabbed his hand. As we stepped out of the bedroom, I switched on the living room lights.
"Velric, go and sit on the sofa. You can watch TV until I warm up the food."
"TV? What is that?"
My god, he doesn’t know anything about TV. As he sat down on the sofa, I turned it on and played a cartoon for him.
The mont he saw it, he was srized. Sure enough, kids love cartoons so much.
When I went back into the kitchen, my attention shifted to my hand. The wound on the back of my palm wasn’t hurting anymore.
I washed it with water, then took out the frozen food from the fridge and put it in the oven.
