Screams and shouts of terror rent the air as Aldric hurriedly donned the rest of his clothes. His plan had never involved getting into bed with Islinda—or rather, the succubus demon in disguise. If he had been on alert, perhaps the intruders wouldn’t have gotten this far into his castle.

"Where are you going?" Azula asked as the dark Fae prince snatched a double-edged paragon spear from its place on the wall.

Aldric didn’t respond directly. "I’m barricading this room," he said, his tone clipped. "Stay put. After I’m done, we can talk—clothed." His gaze flicked over her brazen, naked form with a mix of irritation and caution.

Azula smiled brazenly. What was wrong with being naked? She loved being naked. Azula was very, very comfortable in her skin.

"Perhaps, take with you," she suggested, her voice a purr.

Aldric turned to give her a long look before another explosion rocked his castle walls. He completely ignored her and walked ahead. He could tell she was strong and capable of protecting herself, but he wasn’t taking any chances. If she died, so did Islinda. Not to ntion the risk of her escaping. He had not co to the point of accepting Islinda as his mate, only to lose her. No, it was not happening.

As soon as Aldric stepped out of his quarters, Kalamazoo was there to et him.

"How did you get here?" Aldric questioned him, not expecting his arrival for a few days.

"Prince Andre was magnanimous enough to provide us with a dallion for swift traveling. He sensed the castle would be under attack."

"Us?" Aldric pointed out.

"Issac and Lady Maxi are here."

"Hmmm," Aldric grunted. His relationship with Issac and Maxi had been rocky lately, and he wasn’t sure it would ever return to the way it was. Trust had been broken between them.

"What’s the status?" Aldric asked, his shadow power lashing out to take down an enemy that attempted to sneak up behind him.

Kalamazoo was startled, not having seen the attacker coming. But Aldric had already taken care of it.

"East gate is down, and I found these strange bombs planted at our weak points. However, sothing tells they belong to you, and I’ve already warned our soldiers to beware of your sneaky bombs. We are low on Fae power and, I hate to admit it, but we are outnumbered, my prince."

"Good." Aldric’s eyes glinted with the thrill of battle. "Now, guard my apartnt and ensure not an ant gets in or out of it, or you can be assured you’ll be visiting your ancestors pretty soon if anything happens to Islinda."

"But Prince Aldric..." Kalamazoo was about to protest, but Aldric had already vanished, leaving him to babysit instead of joining the front line of battle.

Outside, the battle raged with savage intensity. Aldric plunged into the heart of the chaos, surrounded by enemies on all sides.

Recognition spread among the combatants like wildfire. "It’s Prince Aldric!" they shouted, their voices rising above the din until everyone was well aware the dark Fae prince had made an appearance.

The order ca swiftly: "Kill him!"

The enemies surged forward, a seething mass of bodies and weapons converging on Aldric like a swarm of bees.

However, Aldric was not intimated with the enemies coming at him from both sides. He stood tall, his spear gleaming in the flickering light of the explosions, ready to unleash his fury upon them.

Aldric closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He could feel the chaos, the power inside of him building and urging to be let out. To be freed. And he led his demons out to play.

Aldric’s shadow power flared around him, a dark, nacing aura that seed to swallow the light. But unlike the other tis, the dark Fae prince blended both of his powers—ice and darkness—into a deadly combination. The powers burst forth like an explosion, cutting through the first wave of attackers with ease.

Bodies were torn apart, so still alive but hanging from darkened icicles that pierced through various body parts. The battlefield was a scene of carnage, yet the enemies kept coming. Aldric bent down, placing his hand on the ground, his eyes glowing as frost began to creep along the surface, mingling with the shadows. The ice spread, turning the ground into a slippery, treacherous terrain. When an enemy was caught, the shadows crept along their bodies, moving like a sentient entity until they reached the heart and ford razor-sharp icicles that pierced through.

"Demon!" their leader cried out, horror etched on his face as more of his people fell to Aldric’s vicious attack. This was a massacre; a Fae shouldn’t wield such overwhelming power.

Aldric’s assault was relentless, his combined ice and shadow powers devastating the enemy ranks. He created a labyrinth of ice spikes and shadow tendrils, impaling and ensnaring foes with rciless precision. The ground was littered with bodies, blood soaking into the frost, but the attackers adapted, avoiding the ice and attacking from a distance.

Raising an ice shield around himself, Aldric continued to strike out with his shadow powers, deflecting arrows and spells with ease. The thrill of the fight coursed through him, and he t the onslaught head-on, his resolve unyielding. He spun his spear with deadly grace, cutting down foes as if they were re playthings. Blood sprayed in arcs, and bodies fell at his feet.

Aldric fought with the ferocity of a cornered beast, his every movent a dance of death. His eyes blazed with dark fire, and his spear struck true, impaling foes left and right. The battlefield beca a chaotic blur of steel, abilities, and blood. When it beca clear that they were losing, the attackers began to fall back.

"Retreat! Retreat! Retreat now!" the leader commanded, realizing he had led his people to their doom.

"Don’t let them escape! Cut down as many as you can! Show the Raysin family that the dark Fae prince is not to be trifled with! Show them what we are capable of!" Aldric commanded his surviving n. His side had taken hits as well, but his words reinvigorated his soldiers.
