"What’s the matter?" Feng Xue opened the door and imdiately saw the figure of the knocker, a man in his early thirties, sowhat slender, looking just like an ordinary office drone. The only thing worth noting was the charred bracelet on his wrist. Given his attire, he wasn’t the type to stand out, so if she wasn’t mistaken, that must be the item possessed by a ghost.
While Feng Xue sized him up, the man was also examining her. Compared to the almost defenseless office drone, Feng Xue, ard with the Hermit Power, could only be perceived through what he chose to reveal.
Hearing Feng Xue speak, he paused slightly, seemingly worried, but still said,
"Everyone else is gathered in the living room, waiting just for you."
"The living room?" Feng Xue saw that the round table was filled with people again. Knowing she had spent a bit too long adjusting and ntoring the "Spirit Pen," she nodded and replied,
"Just a mont, I’ll be right there."
With that, he took a step forward, carrying a hint of spiritual pressure, which made the man involuntarily step back. In that mont, Feng Xue had already turned around, locked the door, and bypassed him to reach the round table, assessing the states of the others.
Due to the absence of the KP, besides Feng Xue, this beginner’s ga had seven other participants—
The office drone with the charred bracelet;
A woman in her forties with a noose around her neck;
A middle-aged man with a ghastly pale face and visible strangulation marks on his neck;
A sickly fat man who couldn’t stop sweating just by sitting there;
A bald man with a face as red as a boiled crab;
A skinny young man with a beer belly;
And the last one, a rather young and beautiful woman who, despite her tightly wrapped clothing, occasionally revealed purple scars on her skin.
"None of them are ordinary people!" Feng Xue observed their expressions, noticing so differences in their attitudes—
The sickly fat man, the man with the cyanotic face, and the woman wrapped up tightly seed the most anxious. Even without the Heart of Bright Mirror and Still Water, he could sense their intense emotional turmoil.
The office drone who had co to fetch him returned to his seat without further ado, and the woman with the noose around her neck was just as stiff.
The red-faced bald man seed quite calm, appearing as if he were comfortably fishing, but even without sensing his emotional fluctuations, Feng Xue knew this guy was definitely proud of knowing more than a little insider information.
Compared to him, the student who looked so easily bullied was hiding it very well. If not for sensing his smug emotions, Feng Xue wouldn’t have noticed anything special about him at all.
"You’re too slow! Everyone’s life is hanging by a thread, and you’re wasting everyone’s ti, do you know that?!"
Feng Xue had just settled down when the cyan-faced man imdiately began to criticize, and Feng Xue then rembered this was probably the guy who had interrupted the KP earlier.
Regarding his question, Feng Xue nonchalantly spread his hands and said:
"You didn’t arrange to et and exchange information, you think I’m wasting ti, then just leave behind."
Seeing Feng Xue’s deanor, the man with the green face wanted to say sothing else, but the woman entangled with the noose suddenly spoke up:
"We are not here to argue!"
After that, she turned her gaze back to Feng Xue and said:
"I believe everyone must have found that piece of information in their rooms by now? For the sake of helping each other, I hope everyone can share the information they have."
Feng Xue narrowed her eyes slightly but didn’t feel any emotional fluctuation from the woman. Either this woman had a ghost that possessed abilities like "shielding spirit perception" or "absorbing emotional fluctuations," or she simply wasn’t human at all.
However, Feng Xue clearly had no intention of being the one to step forward. Before the woman could continue to persuade, the red-faced balding man scoffed disdainfully—
"Heh!"
"What do you an by that?" the woman shot back angrily when she heard the sound, but the man just waved his hand and said:
"Stop pretending. I don’t know if you’re genuinely naive or haven’t heard of the ’mysterious ga’, but anyone who speaks about public information like this at such a gathering is either stupid or malicious. So, are you brainless, or are you setting a trap?"
"How dare you speak like that?" the woman retorted sharply. The tense, corpulent man beside her mustered his courage and said:
"You should have so understanding of this so-called mysterious ga, right? If you’re willing to share the information, just say it. If it requires so form of compensation, feel free to ntion it."
Hearing the fat man’s words, the red-faced balding man imdiately nodded in satisfaction and said:
"Exactly, the mysterious ga is no secret in certain circles. Simply put, it is a deadly ga of struggling desperados possessed by ghosts. However, there’s a reward for every ga cleared. The rewards can be used to enhance oneself or to buy various tools and even items in the real-world.
"Do you think the reason horror movies in recent years seem so uniform in their setups is rely a trend? It’s not. It’s actually because this information leaks from the ga itself. To avoid panic, the only way is to subtly let ordinary people gain so basic understanding of ghosts and spirits."
"So it’s like those Infinite Flow novels, experiencing various terrifying worlds and then gaining reward points and side stories? Are you soone who entered here possessing this information, intentionally letting a ghost possess you to seize this opportunity?"
The slim student with a beer belly asked this, and the red-faced bald man slightly raised his eyebrows and replied:
"That’s about right. But be careful, there aren’t only human players in this ga. Rember, KP once said if you want to survive three days, you need to help your partner change houses. What do you think he ant by ’houses’?"
"That was just one thod KP ntioned; he also said we could work together to suppress all the ghosts!" the woman with the noose around her neck retorted angrily without any emotional fluctuations. However, the red-faced bald man remained unperturbed and said:
"That kind of talk is only ant to deceive fools. Suppress, how do you suppress? The information we have only contains thods to drive ghosts out of the possessed, but no way to deal with the ghosts themselves. What good does driving out a ghost do? Can you restrain it?"
Hearing the red-faced bald man’s explanation, almost everyone turned their gaze toward the woman with the noose around her neck. If she couldn’t explain, everyone present would likely consider her to be completely controlled by a ghost.
Yet amid the unified sentint of the group, Feng Xue noticed an unnatural emotion. He glanced discreetly toward the source of that emotion—it was the beer-bellied student.
And his emotion directed towards the red-faced bald man was one of intense "contempt."
