Magneto had been extrely cautious during this period.

Using his powers, he secretly transported the device to the Statue of Liberty.

Of course, during this ti, he had often noticed a streak of light flying across the night sky over New York.

Occasionally, it even passed over Liberty Island.

Rumor had it that this was a flying steel suit.

So had even started calling its wearer "Iron Man."

Of course, rumors couldn't be trusted.

Magneto didn't pay it much attention.

The one he truly had to guard against was his old rival—Charles.

At last, the summit began.

Today was his chance. As long as he turned all the attending leaders into mutants,

they would never again push for mutant registration laws.

The night air was cold.

Standing atop the Statue of Liberty, Magneto suddenly noticed a thick fog rising over the river.

Through his abilities, he sensed a moving mass of tal cutting through it.

"Soone's coming. Go stop them."

Mystique and Toad imdiately turned and left.

Sabretooth also moved to go, but Magneto stopped him.

"I need your protection. Once I transfer my power to Rogue, I'll be weakened for a short ti.

You must guard then."

Hearing this, Sabretooth silently stepped aside.

He only needed to follow orders.

The fog along the river thickened, soon shrouding the entire shoreline.

On the aircraft, Charles sat quietly in his wheelchair.

Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, and Wolverine were all dressed in specially designed suits—

the uniforms of the X-n.

"Stay sharp—we're about to land," Scott (Cyclops) reminded them.

"We need to rescue Rogue before Magneto fully takes control of her. Otherwise, she'll keep losing her life force until she dies,"

Logan added once more.

"Yeah, yeah, you've said that a dozen tis already."

It was clear Scott and Logan didn't get along.

"Relax. Nothing will go wrong this ti. That demon's envoy has also brought in additional help."

Charles remained calm.

He had also heard the recent rumors about Iron Man.

What he didn't expect was that this person actually knew the demonic envoy.

Charles even suspected that Iron Man might also be a Devil Fruit user.

On that point—he was right.

Tony was indeed a Devil Fruit user, though not a typical one.

At the very least, what he relied on now was the suit he built with his own genius.

The group entered the Statue of Liberty, navigating its maze-like interior corridors.

At that mont, a figure dropped down from above.

Toad!

He imdiately spat a glob of disgusting sli at them.

But since everyone was prepared, no one was affected.

Charles instantly used his telepathic powers to restrain Toad.

In this battle, Magneto had failed to cripple Charles in advance—

a clear disadvantage for him.

Charles read Magneto's location directly from Toad's mind.

"At the top—the torch. Move now."

Having obtained the information, Charles signaled, and Toad was knocked unconscious.

From the shadows, Mystique witnessed everything clearly.

She knew she couldn't take them on alone.

Without hesitation, she retreated to the top.

"Charles is here. We're likely no match for them,"

she reported grimly to Magneto.

Magneto had just been about to let Rogue absorb his power.

Now, it seed he had no choice but to delay.

Glancing downward, he imdiately manipulated tal to block off the passage below.

But at that very mont, a brilliant light streaked across the sky, rapidly approaching.

Tony.

He had finally arrived.

Even the summit attendees noticed the glowing figure in the sky.

Local New Yorkers speculated about who—or what—it was.

The visitors from elsewhere were even more curious.

Watching the approaching light, Magneto grew wary.

Nothing could go wrong tonight.

Hopefully, it would just pass by—like it had over the past few days.

But what you fear most often cos true.

Tony hovered in midair, his suit holding him steady.

"Magneto, your plan has been exposed. There's no way you'll succeed. Surrender now."

His voice bood from the suit, echoing across the Statue of Liberty.

"That's right, Erik—you won't succeed."

At that mont, Sabretooth suddenly spoke from beside Magneto.

Charles had taken control of him.

Everything happened in an instant.

Magneto's plan—just as it began—was already unraveling.

"Is that so? We'll see about that."
