When Wu Li learned from Liu Yuanbo that Li Jun also had shares in the boxing gym, he roughly guessed why Li Jun was targeting him.
Liu Yuanbo and his father made a bet that if by next June, the gym’s revenue still couldn’t surpass that of the fitness club, he would give up the gym and obediently go back to inherit the family fortune...
Who would then take over the gym? With an annual inco of over a million, would it simply be declared bankrupt? Considering that Li Jun also had shares in the gym, things beca clear; Wu Li surmised that Liu Yuanbo’s father had most likely promised Li Jun that, once Liu Yuanbo left, he would hand the gym over to him.
Liu Yuanbo’s father had placed Li Jun by his son’s side, ostensibly to assist him, but covertly he had made such a promise to Li Jun. The naive Liu Yuanbo’s chances of winning against his father were slim, hence the saying that the older, the wiser.
For Li Jun, everything had been going smoothly; in another half-year, he would have complete ownership of a boxing gym. However, at this juncture, Wu Li suddenly appeared and even acquired a 5% share!
In Li Jun’s eyes, he had long regarded the gym as his personal property. Wu Li taking shares was akin to taking money right out of his pocket, so whom else would he target if not Wu Li?
Moreover, with Wu Li suddenly getting involved, it seed quite possible that he could significantly boost the gym’s reputation. At that point, Liu Yuanbo would have a reason to continue operating the gym, and the "duck" that was nearly in Li Jun’s hands would fly away—an outco he absolutely could not tolerate.
...
After modifying the supplentary agreent and having Wu Li sign it, Li Jun headed to Sky Entertainnt dia Co., Ltd. in the afternoon.
Before drafting the supplentary agreent, he had already approached Chang Zhiyang from Sky Entertainnt, under the na of Bo Yuan Company, providing sponsorship fee but with the condition that they manipulate the scheduling of Wu Li’s matches to face stronger opponents earlier.
For Chang Zhiyang, he only needed to use Wu Li’s fa and topicality to promote the tournant before it started. He was not really optimistic about Wu Li’s strength, so it did not matter to him whether Wu Li was eliminated earlier or later.
When soone ca forward with money hoping for Wu Li to face strong opponents sooner, if it were any other company, Chang Zhiyang might worry about offending Wu Li or the Bo Yuan Company behind him. But now it was Wu Li’s own company approaching, and Chang Zhiyang would not refuse, as he would offend no one and stand to benefit—why not do it?
Poor Liu Yuanbo still naively thought that Li Jun’s sponsorship was ant to help better promote Wu Li, unaware of the maneuvers Li Jun was making behind his back.
This was also why Liu Yuanbo respectfully called Wu Li "Master," whereas Li Jun dared to openly offend Wu Li. If Liu Yuanbo had been a slightly more ambitious and cunning rich second-generation, even if Li Jun obeyed Liu Yuanbo’s father, he would at least be superficially courteous to Wu Li. Unfortunately, Liu Yuanbo had such a personality that even if he eventually inherited his family’s business, Li Jun was not optimistic about his ability to hold power; he would most likely just lie back and collect money, living as a wealthy layabout.
Chang Zhiyang nodded and agreed to specially arrange Wu Li’s schedule. Li Jun’s plan was half successful; the trip to Sky Entertainnt was for the other half of the plan.
Wu Li and Ren Donglai’s matter made it easy for Li Jun to find out the role of Sky Entertainnt, so he arranged a eting with the CEO of Sky Entertainnt, Lin Dongsen, that afternoon.
"Mr. Lin, what a pleasure."
Inside the office, Li Jun smiled and shook hands with Lin Dongsen.
"Mr. Li, please have a seat," Lin Dongsen warmly invited Li Jun to sit down.
Bo Yuan Company might just be a dium-sized company, but its backer, Haohan Fitness, was an absolute behemoth, which Lin Dongsen could not afford to overlook.
"Mr. Lin, I apologize for the intrusion today. I’ll get straight to the point," Li Jun said.
Lin Dongsen gestured with his hand, "Mr. Li, please don’t be polite, go ahead."
Li Jun said, "As far as I know, Mr. Lin’s Sky Entertainnt is also one of the sponsors of the Qi City Extre Martial Arts Tournant."
Lin Dongsen nodded. Although Director Hu of the TY Bureau hadn’t handled Wu Li’s case well last ti, Lin Dongsen had already agreed to sponsor the competition and had no plans to go back on his word. He didn’t want to spoil the hard-earned relationships over one incident.
Seeing Lin Dongsen nod, Li Jun smiled and said, "Mr. Lin might be aware that our Bo Yuan Boxing Gym has also put forward a representative to compete, nad Wu Li."
Upon hearing the na Wu Li, Lin Dongsen’s eyelids twitched, but his smile remained unchanged, "I’ve heard of him. Mr. Li, have you co to ask for my help with sothing at the tournant?"
He was a businessman; although Wu Li had caused him the loss of Ren Donglai, he hadn’t thought about revenge since even if he got back at Wu Li, Ren Donglai wouldn’t be coming back, and he didn’t engage in actions that served no benefit.
Now that Li Jun had approached him, if there was enough benefit, he wouldn’t mind lending a hand to Wu Li.
However, Li Jun smiled, waving his hand, "Mr. Lin, you’ve misunderstood. That’s not what I ant."
Lin Dongsen, "Oh?"
Li Jun continued, "What I an is, I actually don’t want to push Wu Li. I have soone else in mind whom I prefer, soone I’d rather see succeed."
Lin Dongsen’s expression shifted subtly as he asked, "Is this the wish of your company’s chairman?"
Li Jun smiled, "Mr. Lin, as you might know, our chairman at Bo Yuan is only dabbling for fun. His father would rather he return to take over the family business."
"If the person I favor performs well in the competition, even possibly defeating Wu Li, his fa would instantly rise. If Sky Entertainnt were to sign such a person in advance, it’s a surefire profit," Li Jun threw out his bait.
Lin Dongsen’s eyes brightened as he asked, "Is this person stronger than Wu Li?"
Li Jun answered, "They haven’t fought, so I can’t guarantee he’s stronger than Wu Li. However, I’ve heard that Wu Li’s competition schedule this ti isn’t favorable; he’ll face many strong opponents early on. Even if he wins, he will expend a lot of energy and might even sustain injuries. The schedule is tight, too. Mr. Lin, if you could arrange a more relaxed schedule for my guy, and then let them et towards the end, who do you think would have a greater chance of winning? Even if they don’t end up eting, and the one who defeats Wu Li ultimately loses to my guy, with just a little prompt... well, as an expert in this area, Mr. Lin, I suppose I don’t need to say more, do I?"
Lin Dongsen nodded, beginning to weigh the pros and cons. Clearly, this was an internal struggle within Bo Yuan Company, but Li Jun’s approach and previous arrangent spoke volus.
Signing Li Jun’s man in advance, and if he could rise above Wu Li, Sky Entertainnt would naturally make a fortune. Even if things didn’t turn out as hoped, it wouldn’t be a loss for Sky Entertainnt. As a sponsor, making a small request for the tournant was only appropriate, wasn’t it?
Thinking this, Lin Dongsen extended his hand, "Mr. Li, it’s a pleasure doing business with you."
Li Jun smiled as they shook hands, "A pleasure doing business indeed!"
