Intense gunfire continued to echo, with moonlight and distant lights casting spotty shadows throughout the forest, leaving dark splotches, where the dense branches and lush leaves of the surrounding trees seed to be like demons dancing with claws in the dark.

There was still so distance to the actual battle upfront, relatively safer; the person that Lao Lv had at gunpoint was nad Qin Zhengming, one of the five newly appointed Elders of the Longhua Association.

Although he was called an Elder, Qin Zhengming wasn’t actually old; he was forty-three this year and had fought his way up, participating in tonight’s battle with his n.

In his position, he theoretically didn’t need to personally engage in life-and-death struggles, but because he was a newly appointed Elder with insufficient seniority, he needed to demonstrate his achievents to gain respect from others, and tonight’s battle that would determine the fate of the Longhua Association was an excellent opportunity.

Secondly, Long Yu had promoted him because he valued Qin Zhengming’s boldness and fighting spirit. So, for Qin Zhengming, it was both reasonable and necessary to participate in tonight’s battle.

Lin Yun was aware of this, which is why he had staged this move with Lao Lv.

Lao Lv was not only Qin Zhengming’s trusted ally but also one of his formidable underlings. Tonight’s primary objective was to follow Qin Zhengming and ensure his safety. Before acting, Lao Lv intentionally had reassigned those around Qin Zhengming, allowing him to point a gun at Qin’s head without anyone realizing that sothing had gone wrong here yet.

"Don’t move, don’t shout, don’t force to kill you!"

Lao Lv’s eyes were red, and his gun-holding hand was shaking.

Qin Zhengming’s face was grim as he stared at Lao Lv, "In this damn life, I’ve barely trusted a few people. You were the one I trusted the most. And now you’re pointing a gun at my head? Huh? Lao Lv? Lv Jin?"

Lv Jin bit his lip, "I’m sorry, I had no choice. Brother Ming, please, don’t push . I’m begging you!"

"Your family is in their hands?"

Qin Zhengming quickly considered the possibility. Based on his understanding of Lv Jin and many years of camaraderie between them, there was no other reason he could think of that would make Lv Jin betray him.

Lv Jin was silent for a mont before admitting, "Yes, I really had no choice. Brother Ming, there’s no ti. You need to communicate with Long Yu imdiately!"

"You’re too naive. You should’ve told ," Qin Zhengming said.

Lv Jin shook his head, "It’s no use. They’ve got monsters like Wu Li. You know how Chang Hao died. Can Long Yu protect my family?"

"You..." At that mont, Qin Zhengming was at a loss for words.

"There’s no ti left! Call Long Yu. Tell him Wu Li is here, quick!" Lv Jin hissed in a low voice.

Qin Zhengming looked at Lv Jin calmly, "Have you thought about the consequences of doing this? The Dragon King won’t let you go, and this will also endanger your family."

"I have no choice! Once the ti cos, my whole family will die. I have no choice!"

"Call Long Yu!"

Lv Jin pressed the gun barrel forcefully against Qin Zhengming’s head, his finger on the trigger as if ready to shoot at any mont.

Looking into Lv Jin’s eyes, Qin Zhengming took a deep breath, knowing Lv Jin was on the verge of breaking down. If he refused now, both would likely end up dead.

"Fine, I’ll communicate with Long Yu," said Qin Zhengming.

"Don’t play any tricks, don’t force . I’m not afraid to die here," warned Lv Jin.

"Relax, I don’t want to die either," replied Qin Zhengming.

After speaking, Qin Zhengming took out his communicator and pressed the button, "Dragon King, Dragon King."

Considering the sheer number of people involved in this battle, Long Yu naturally couldn’t command everyone in person. He was only in charge of directing the squad leaders of the three White Reapers and the three Elders who participated in the battle. These six would then oversee the other lieutenants, making only Qin Zhengming and the other five able to communicate directly with Long Yu on the battlefield.

"Speak."

Long Yu’s voice ca through the communicator.

Qin Zhengming glanced at Lv Jin and deliberately made his voice sound urgent, "I think I’ve spotted Wu Li here."

"Are you sure it’s Wu Li?" Long Yu asked swiftly.

"I think so. Dammit, he’s moving too fast for us to see clearly."

"How many people ca?"

"Just him alone."

"Okay, hold him off as best you can. I’m on my way."

"Understood!"

After the call ended, Lv Jin breathed a sigh of relief, still pointing his gun at Qin Zhengming while pulling out another communicator from his pocket, "The job’s done. Long Yu is on his way."

Seconds later, a voice ca through the communicator, "Well done, continue as planned."

Lv Jin put away the communicator and took out a pair of handcuffs, gesturing for Qin Zhengming to extend his hands.

Qin Zhengming looked at Lv Jin, "What else do they want you to do?"

As Lv Jin cuffed Qin Zhengming’s wrists, he said, "Don’t ask any more. I don’t want to kill you. Just cooperate with as much as you can, and maybe we all have a chance of surviving."

"Damn it!" cursed Qin Zhengming.

Lv Jin ignored him and spoke into another communicator, "Little Hawk, Hua Zi, Four Eyes, take your brothers towards the twelve o’clock direction for an ambush. Don’t go running around without orders."

"Got it. Who are we ambushing over there?" soone responded through the communicator.

"Don’t ask stupid questions. Obviously, it’s Zhiqing Hall’s people," Lv Jin said.

"If we all leave, what about you and Brother Ming?" another person inquired.

"I’ll stay with Brother Ming. If anything goes awry, we’ll retreat. We’re far enough away here. There shouldn’t be any problems. Go quickly, they’re urging us from above," Lv Jin urged.

"Okay."

"Understood."

"Take care, you and Brother Ming. If sothing’s not right, give us a shout."

...

Qin Zhengming silently watched as Lv Jin dispatched everyone nearby, feeling like he had hit rock bottom.

Because of his trust in Lv Jin, everyone close to Qin Zhengming and those he had brought along were under Lv Jin’s command. Now, all their efforts were benefiting Zhiqing Hall.

"Is Wu Li really going to co?" Qin Zhengming suddenly asked.

Lv Jin was taken aback before answering, "I’m not sure, but he probably will."

Qin Zhengming sighed, "It’s not that easy to kill Long Yu."

Lv Jin remained silent. Both of them knew very well, with Long Yu’s temperant, once he found they had been betrayed, neither would fare well. They could only hope Wu Li had enough power to kill Long Yu, giving both at least a glimr of survival.

Elsewhere, as Long Yu ran, he glanced at the fast-moving figures nearby and said to Victor by his side, "So, these are your elites?"

Victor’s expression was cold, "A Boxer like you or Wu Li would be considered Grandmasters during the period of the Republic, and even now. Our people have ticulously studied one particular subject."

Long Yu narrowed his eyes, "What’s that?"

Victor replied, "How to kill a Grandmaster."

At the sa ti, Wu Li led his n swiftly into the battlefield.
