"Miss Kentwood!" Alia was relieved to find that Sean had finally arrived, and he pried Emline away from her in one quick motion, causing her to stumble into the cubicles.
She lost her balance and fell directly on the shards of broken ceramic, howling with pain.
"You bitch! You’re trying to make lose my child!" Emline shrieked as she tottered back up, her knees scraped and bleeding with wounds.
Aiden hurriedly grabbed her before she could make another lunge for Alia.
Blood. Suddenly Alia knew she would get no better chance. She pulled out her phone and dialed for an ambulance, while Sean’s steady bulk kept the worst of Emline at bay. Aiden was also wrangling her, while she hissed and spitted vulgarities at him like an angry cat.
"You scumbag! Let go of ! Are you blinded by what’s between her legs to keep your eyes on the prize?! No wonder your mother despairs of you!"
"Don’t talk about my mother!" Aiden retorted hotly, his eyebrow twitching viciously as he dodged Emline’s claws. Emline shrieked, but she wasn’t going to give up anyti soon.
"Emline, should you be moving so much?" Alia asked. "You wouldn’t want sothing to happen to the fetus, right?"
"Save your concern!" Emline raged, her once pristine hairdo was now as ssy as a bird’s nest. "I will never lose my child―"
Then, she bowled over, her arms around her belly, seemingly in pain. Aiden and Alia exchanged panicked glances, before Alia rembered that she was still very upset with Aiden and Aiden rembered that he was effectively persona non grata in her eyes.
Emline seed to be swaying on the floor. Alia wanted to help, but Aiden and her bodyguard pulled her back instantly.
Aiden cleared his throat and scoffed at Emline, trying to sound imperious. "What are you up to now? Stop pretending to act pathetic so that Alia will co and save you! Your little tricks won’t work on us!"
"It... hurts..." Emline choked out weakly, her face suddenly pale with shock.
The fact that Emline wasn’t cursing out Aiden already sent warning bells ringing in Alia’s head. Her eyes darted lower, and she spotted the growing blood stains on her dress, in between her legs. That was simply too much blood to have co from falling on broken shards.
"We need to get her to sit down," Alia said frantically, "I think she’s bleeding out!"
If the n weren’t panicking before, they certainly were now. If things weren’t so serious, Alia would have felt the slightest bit of pity for Sean, who had now turned from a simple bodyguard to a makeshift paradic. Aiden and Sean quickly lifted her onto a chair, and Alia hissed at the sight of rivulets of blood flowing down Emline’s calves.
"Fuck, holy shit, fuck!" Aiden cursed.
"I already called an ambulance; they’ll be here soon!" Alia said. "Emline, try to calm down. Take deep breaths!"
She wanted to get an ambulance to take Emline away so that she could get a sample of her blood to test the paternity of the child, but now it turns out there might not even be a fetus for her to test on.
It would be more convenient if Emline lost the child― but Alia wanted proof. She needed the world to know that Matteo was not responsible for this fetus, and to clear his na. If Emline lost the baby, the truth would never co to light.
Emline glanced down and saw the blood staining her dress, and she scread even louder in desperation. "No! No! My baby― You did sothing― My baby!"
She glared at Alia with teary eyes, making an aborted attempt to claw at Alia’s face.
"Stop moving!" Alia wanted to scream.
This woman hated her more than she loved her child, to the point of irrationality. Emline’s behavior was giving her more stress, and Alia had to take her own advice. Deep breaths, deep breaths. Things would be fine.
"If you want to keep your baby, keep calm! You’ll bleed out otherwise," she advised.
"Miss, you should sit down too," Sean suggested with worry as he kept one eye on Emline. He wouldn’t put it past her to make one last-ditch attempt to hurt his employer.
Finally, the paradics arrived. Alia imdiately pointed them to Emline, and they hauled her away on the stretcher while taking her vitals.
Alia shot Aiden a raised eyebrow. "Shouldn’t you be going with her? Since she’s the mother of your child?"
Aiden flinched as if he had been struck. Alia did not feel guilty in the slightest. Him feeling uncomfortable and hurt was simply couppance, and Alia thought she was letting him off lightly enough without throwing a chair at him.
Not that she would do it. She was pregnant and needed to stay calm, lest she end up following Emline’s bloody footsteps. More importantly, office chairs did not deserve to be abused like that. She would let Matteo deal with him afterward.
She quickly updated Matteo on Emline’s situation― knowing him, he would be right there at the hospital, hopefully collecting blood samples.
Alia did not want to collect blood from the office chair.
"I probably shouldn’t be there," Aiden said, his eyes downcast. "If Emline sees , she’ll probably lose the baby even more quickly."
"And that would ruin both of your plans, wouldn’t it?" Alia pointed out, clucking her tongue irritably, though she wasn’t sure what plan they actually had now that Alia knew the truth. "But I’m going anyway. Sean, can you drive to the hospital?"
"Yes, Miss Kentwood." Sean nodded, and off they went, Aiden staring blankly at Alia’s retreating back.

Just as she expected, Matteo was already waiting for her outside the ergency departnt.
Emline’s case was dire, and they wheeled her inside without even bothering to secure a special private admission for her. In a few hours, the world would know about this issue.
Matteo’s face was grim. He, too, was not looking forward to the dia storm.
"How are things?" Alia asked. "I initially wanted to send her to the hospital to get a blood sample, but now..."
"Now there will be plenty of blood," Matteo said dryly. "But we might have no use for it."
