It took less than half an hour for Alia to move into Isaac’s apartnt. It took Aiden four hours to haul what must have been his life’s prized possessions into the apartnt, and still, there were plenty of items that didn’t make the cut.

"Interior design is your passion, I see," Alia said dryly as she watched Aiden struggle to fit the shelves with his figurines.

"You do not know the pleasure of magical girls," Aiden said without any sha as he continued to arrange them in the most pleasing manner.

anwhile, Isaac had quickly done a stocktake of what he needed to welco yet another, possibly pregnant guest into his ho. He had set up a mattress a few days ago in one of the spare rooms, but it was ant for Aiden to sleep on. With Alia’s more fragile condition, he’d be damned if he let her sleep on the couch or sothing worse.

Aiden solved the problem by cheerfully offering his own mattress and the already furnished guest room, choosing to take the smaller bedroom that functioned more as Isaac’s disposal ground for his old dical texts and broken anatomy figures. He would sleep on an inflatable mattress instead.

Alia poked at a skeleton in amusent. The entire apartnt was pretty hoy, despite the fact that Isaac had been living alone in it for all this ti. There were plenty of photo fras on the shelves, and on his fridge were several pictures drawn by his younger patients, along with their thank-you cards.

"There’s only one bathroom here, so let’s try to keep things hygienic, alright?" Isaac asked. "I posted a chore list on the whiteboard so let’s try to keep this house spick and span."

"Chorelist?" Aiden squawked, as though he had never heard of such an indignity. "Why do we need one?"

"Why? Do you think you’re too good to wash dishes with the rest of us peasants?" Alia asked in amusent.

"The Hawthorne heiress is calling a peasant? Okay, I’m poor when compared to you. But we can get a dishwasher. I’ll pay for it."

"If the both of you are peasants, I’m the dirt on the ground." Isaac rolled his eyes. "And I didn’t get a dishwasher because I was living alone, so it wasn’t worth the expense. But if you want to get one, go ahead. Make sure to cover the increase in utilities too."

"I’ll get one installed. And get a cleaner to co over. Don’t worry about the cost," Aiden said confidently. "I’ll cover all your utility bills from now on!"

Alia sent a quick ssage to Dimitri. ’Aiden is refurnishing Isaac’s apartnt to make life easier for us and he’s paying the bills. Isaac seems impressed at his initiative.’

Dimitri didn’t respond, but she got a ssage from Ronan. ’What did you say to my brother? He’s losing his shit LOLOL told him to not be so slow in love.’

Alia replied with only three letters. ’RIP.’

Days passed, and Alia’s condition gradually improved since she was getting actual back support when she slept. Color was slowly but surely returning to her cheeks. Her father next door was pleased with the improvents, even as Dimitri continued to shoot Aiden angry looks whenever he dared to show his face.

However, the nausea continued to persist. Even Aiden, who had the observational skills of a concussed duck in the morning, could tell sothing wasn’t quite right when Alia left the breakfast table for the fifth ti in the morning to rush to the toilet.

"Hey, is Isaac’s cooking that bad? Why do you keep retching?" " Aiden asked before a realization dawned in his eyes. "Wait, are you actually preg―"

"Of course not!" Alia exclaid, quickly slamming her hand on the table to cut off his train of thought. Her other hand was dabbing at her mouth, trying to wipe it clean. "Unless I’m the new savior of the world, that’s not possible!"

"Well, you’re definitely not a virgin right? Wait, are you? Has my brother never―"

"Please do not talk about this at the breakfast table," Isaac said, his voice pained. He seed like he regretted inviting both of them to stay.

He ntally mourned the farewell of calm breakfasts and reluctantly welcod inappropriate conversations over scrambled eggs and tea.

"But she might be―" Aiden turned to Isaac. "You’re the doctor. Have you found anything?"

Isaac sighed. He had bought a couple of pregnancy tests for her and left them tucked away in her cabinet. However, Alia had still refused to take it, and he wasn’t going to push her.

The results could be life-changing, and he didn’t bla Alia for wanting to live a bit longer in limbo. She had enough to worry about.

But he wasn’t going to let Aiden know of his suspicions either― this man was tied too closely to the ss, and he feared that unconfird information from him might set the powder keg on fire.

"I examined Alia, and it seems to be a bad case of indigestion. It might even be irritable bowel syndro that developed from stress," Isaac said. "It doesn’t help that she hasn’t been eating regular als. It could also be due to the monthly cycle. Many won experience nausea when it’s that ti of the month."

"Alia is right here and she can hear what you’re saying," Alia said dryly. "I’m just stressed due to the situation."

She took a bite of her breakfast, Isaac’s earlier words ringing in her head. She had to eat, no matter how little the amount.

"The ’situation’," Aiden said, making air quotes with his fingers. "You can say her na. She’s not a magical dictator hell-bent on world domination."

Alia sighed. Emline might not be hell-bent on world domination, but she was definitely intent on conquering every inch of Matteo’s being.

"Have you heard from Matteo yet?" Isaac asked worriedly. "What’s he planning to do with her?"

"Who knows?" Alia shook her head. Matteo and her have not talked recently. "Maybe he’s trying to harvest her blood for another test."

"Nah, I heard from my mother he’s forced to go back to the mansion and make nice with Emline," Aiden said, pretending to retch. "Urgh, can you imagine that dinner?"
