She hadn’t ant those words, or at least she had at that ti as she was mad at him, but not later when it seed he had taken her words and left her. Rohan was not a man who listened to soone, especially not when she told him to leave, but he seed to have taken her words for it and made himself scarce in the castle.

"Are you certain you want to leave you alone, love?" He’d asked her those words as he stared at her with his head crooked to the side with a small smile on his face.

Belle had blurted out, "Yes."

"Fine. I will leave you alone. In fact, I won’t bother you again if it will make you happy. Good luck with your training," he’d told her, but she had missed the smirk on his face as he walked away because to Belle, he did not an those words—until now that he proved her wrong.

Where was he?

"If you will not focus, Lady Dagon, you will leave with no choice but to make you run again. You have been shooting and not paying attention to my instructions. What is weighing on your mind?" Cordelia asked as she handed her water gourd to the servant standing next to her. It had been a sheer miracle that had made her not kill this human sohow by now with how much she had been getting on her nerves.

Knowing that there was no chance of hurting the human in the way she wanted to, being in the castle with constant eyes on her as they trained, Cordelia had focused solely on doing what was expected of her. Anyway, she had not co here with the intention to make her cousin hate her or to kill the human imdiately; thus, it was fun to see her suffer in the training.

Now, however, Cordelia could not help but notice that unlike the rest of the days she had been catching up in training, she had not been focusing these days, and she had a feeling why it was like that.

"I am sorry. I will try again," Belle muttered absentmindedly.

Willing herself to stop dwelling on Rohan and his whereabouts, she turned her focus to the shooting range in the distance. She planted her feet shoulder-width apart, just as she had been taught, and raised the crossbow to eye level for a better aim at her target.

Taking a deep breath, she relaxed her shoulders and steadied her grip, aligning the sight with the center of the target. Her finger hovered near the trigger for a mont, and then she pressed it.

The arrow went flying towards the target board, and she held her breath, hoping it would hit bullseye so she could rest for the day. Failing to et the day’s target would lead to repeated practice until she made it, and to be honest, she was exhausted today and was suffering as it was that ti of her month.

She had thought she wouldn’t be able to get up this morning for the training, but the hope of catching a glimpse of Rohan had fueled her into getting ready. Now, she watched the arrow with unblinking eyes, willing it to et the target—and when it hit the board and struck the mark, she smiled shakily and let out the breath she had been holding, then glanced at the vampiress.

"That makes it the end of our training for today," she said, placing her crossbow down and beginning to remove the training gloves.

"You are quite a fast learner, Lady Dagon. It’s sothing I didn’t expect from humans. Good job," Cordelia said, patting her shoulder like a good friend.

It was true, vampires had always underestimated humans and their abilities. And from how Belle saw it, they seed to think of them as weak and dense. She was almost tempted to remind the woman that it was humans who had invented weapons and how to use them—it wasn’t a vampire thing, as they were more known to fight with their bare hands.

However, she smiled and said instead, "It’s because I have a wonderful teacher like you. By the way, do you, by any chance, know where His Lordship is? I haven’t seen him in a while."

Belle regretted the words only after they had left her mouth and it was too late to take them back. This vampiress wasn’t the right person she should ask about her husband, and it was proven when she gave her the answers she had not hoped to hear.

"Oh, cousin Rohan is not soone who sits around doing nothing. Didn’t I once tell you about his harem of whores? I actually saw him heading in the direction of his mini theater last night, and since you haven’t seen him around, he must be in the other part of the castle having the fun of his life. n," she laughed with a shake of her head, "will always be n. He can’t live without a woman, and seeing how busy you and I have been, he’s probably entertaining himself with soone other than his wife. Let’s go in—it looks like it’s going to rain."

Belle’s grip on the crossbow tightened. Thunder rumbled in the sky and the sound seed to co from a distant part of her mind. She hated how her chest suddenly felt heavy, and how the woman’s words struck sothing in her she didn’t want to entertain—jealousy.

She had no reason to feel that way. It was absolutely normal in this day and age for a man to have other won than the one he was married to. In fact, her own father had kept a mistress outside the house, and her mother knew about it and did nothing but accept it, as every other woman had. She had even seen one of the mistresses at a ball, who their father introduced to them.

She had felt disgusted by the other woman for so reason, but her mother had smiled so big, hugging her, that Belle believed it was sothing every woman would take naturally—it seed not her. She wanted to brush it off, pretend it was nothing, and take it and smile like she had seen her mother do eting their father’s mistress.

But the thought of him with soone else, smiling and touching, laughing the way he did with her, made her feel sick and made her heart knot in jealousy. She pressed her lips into a tight smile, not wanting to show anything. Not in front of Cordelia.

"Yes, let’s go in. It’s going to rain."

She hurried into the castle, not wanting to show her reaction to the other woman who had spoken the words casually about her husband being with his whores.
