Suzette sliced her palm for the tenth ti, her blood dripping inside the magic circle she had created. And even though she felt dizzy and blood was already dripping from her nose, she still did not stop muttering her spells.
Once again, she saw that vision, and this ti it felt so real. Seeing Tristan dead in that girl’s arms. Unfortunately, that was where her vision starts and ends, and since she woke up, she has tried to inquire more about it, but everything has just been dark.
No matter how many tis she had used her blood to perform a spell that would make her see the complete vision, there was still nothing.
Once again, Suzette was about to cut her palm when she was seized into a vision.
There was blood everywhere, and hundreds of wolves lay dead on the floor, and in the center stood Tristan. His black hair now turned white, his golden eyes filled with bloodlust, pain and love. In front of him stood a red-haired woman, her voice cold and cutting.
"They were right about you; you are nothing but a monster."
Suzette ca out of a vision with a gasp, and before she could even process her thoughts, she heard a voice.
"What did you see, Suzette?"
Suzette frowned at the familiar voice and turned to see the owner of it, "Lia."
Lia smiled, her eyes sweeping over the cage. "All these years, you still haven’t changed. Even the world has changed, Suzette. Witches now live in mansions, run businesses, and enjoy life. But you? You still spend your day and night in a lonely cave, casting spells and seeing false visions.
"Why are you here, Lia?"
"Three years ago, I ca here, asking you to read my future, and you lied to ."
"In what way have I lied to you?"
"You told you saw married to Tristan, and now, he is married to a girl who does not even have a pack. Is this a joke?"
"My vision has never been wrong."
"They were wrong!" Lia snapped.
"Tristan will never marry you." Suzette said simply.
"What?"
"Three years ago you had co to , desperate to know your future with the man you love, with the man whom you had rejected your mate for and Incase you have forgotten the words I said to you, then let repeat it.
I saw you standing beside him, as a wife stands beside her husband, and people addressing you as his Luna. I saw as you desperately tried to win him over, but no matter how hard you tried, his heart was already beating for soone else, and it will never be you, Lia."
Lia laughed loudly and said, "Then I will make it to be ."
"Trying to kill her just as you did to Eva won’t work."
"Excuse ? Why do you all think I have sothing to do with Eva’s death? The girl died because she was a fool, and that’s it."
Suzette frowned at her and said, "Tristan may not have said anything to you about Eva’s death, but do not make the mistake of taking his silence for his weakness. He protects you because that was the last request your mother made to him before she passed away, but if you keep crossing your limit, then your body will be found on the street and be made food for the wild beasts."
"Are you threatening , you old hag?"
Suzette looked at her and raised her hand and then squeezed her fist tightly.
Lia suddenly fell to her knees, struggling to breathe, and when she was about to lose consciousness, Suzette opened her fist and brought her hand down.
"Never call an old hag, and it isn’t a threat, Lia. Now, get out."
Lia coughed violently, and her eyes burned with anger as she glared at Suzette. She stood up and said, "You are lucky Tristan likes you; I would have taken your head for your insolence."
Lia looked around the cave and chuckled, "You know it’s funny how you stay to cast spells and see visions for Tristan’s sake. It’s funny how you claim you want to protect him when you couldn’t even protect your own son. Poor boy, he must be turning in his grave right now."
Suzette looked at Lia coldly and said, "I pity you."
Lia scoffed and walked out. Pity? She needs no one’s pity. For years, she has been by Tristan’s side and even rejected her mate to be able to continue being by his side, and now a girl from nowhere has dared to enter his life as his wife. Just like she had shown Eva her place, doing the sa thing to this girl who doesn’t even have a pack should be no problem.
....
Hailey had insisted that they et in an amusent park and since she had no plan in attending her classes today, Aria agreed.
When Aria got to the park, she thought Hailey would explain why she had suddenly disappeared, but instead, she was dragged to play with the swings, and after they had played for so ti, the two girls sat in a corner with ice cream in their hands.
"So, are you finally going to tell why you suddenly disappeared? I kept texting and calling you but you never texted or called back."
"I know," Hailey replied.
Aria glanced at her friend and asked, "Are you alright? You look kind of sad, and the way you insisted on playing on the swings, it was as if you were desperate to forget sothing."
"I am getting married."
Aria froze. "What? To whom?"
"’Sold off’ might be a better term," Hailey said bitterly.
"What do you an you are getting sold off? Is your dad forcing you to get married? He can’t do that!"
"He can, and he is." Hailey said with a sad smile.
"No, he can’t. You can run away."
"And beco a rogue? Having no pack or family."
"Are they really your family? What sort of family wishes to force their daughter to get married against her choice? And as for having a pack, then you can join . You can beco a mber of the Golden Rills Pack."
"What are you saying? Join a rival pack? That’s insane, Aria."
"Tristan is actually a nice guy. He is very different from the rumors, Hailey. I believe that if you tell him your situation, then he will welco you into his pack."
Hailey looked at Aria and smiled as she asked, "Are you in love with him?"
"What?"
"Wow. So the saying that love is blind is actually true."
"I’m not in love with him." Aria quickly said and looked away from Hailey’s teasing gaze. She focused on licking her ice cream until she heard Hailey chuckle.
"I’m curious about sothing." Hailey started. "Have the both of you done the deed yet?"
"What deed?" Aria asked in confusion, but as she realized what Hailey ant, she rembered last night’s activity. "We haven’t gone that far."
"That far? How far have both of you gone?"
"Hey, stop trying to change the subject and answer ."
Hailey sighed and said "There is no answer for to give to you, Aria."
"Why are you so hesitant to leave there?"
"You have never been in a pack, so you wouldn’t understand."
"Then make understand. You have always talked about finding your mate; you have always dread about that day, and now that dream is going to be shattered once you get married to another man. I am giving you a way out, but you do not wish to take it. You are right; I don’t understand."
Hailey scoffed. "Now that you have beco a Luna, you think you know everything. Haven’t you ever wondered why Tristan has not introduced you to his pack?"
Aria frowned at that question. She could rember the day of their wedding when Cole had asked if he should drive them to the pack house, but Tristan had refused, saying it would be overwhelming for her. At that ti, she didn’t really give it much thought, but now, she wondered if there was another reason for him insisting on not taking her to his pack house.
"By the look on your face, I’m guessing you have never given it much thought. Do you think the mbers of the most powerful pack in the world will accept you, whose only quality as a wolf is your sll? Do you think they will bow to you and call you Luna? That pack drove their forr Luna to her death, and the Tristan whom you praise so much walked past his mate’s body as if she was dirt."
"Why are you...."
"My brother told everything yesterday. I never knew Eva was Tristan’s mate. I rember her; she was a beautiful and kind girl. One day, I suddenly stopped seeing her, and when I asked my dad about it, he said Eva had gone to her mate pack. I was happy for her, and later I heard she had died there, and no one ever ntioned her na again. Now, I know why Alpha Milton hates Tristan so much. And even if I decide to go with you to the Golden Rills Pack, then what? What will I be there?"
"I....I don’t understand."
"You are Tristan’s wife, and for that, they may respect you, but what about ? I will have no respect and will be treated as a slave to them. An Oga would be treated better than ."
"That won’t be the case."
"Then are you able to promise that it won’t be the case? In my pack, I am highly respected because I am the Beta’s daughter, the girl who the Alpha sees as his own daughter, and even the man my dad has arranged for is the son of an Alpha. I will beco a Luna too, and that is enough for ."
"But you won’t be happy." Aria stated sadly.
Hailey looked at Aria for a few seconds before she asked, "Are you happy, Aria?"
