Why was she shaking? Did she perhaps do sothing to the food? Tristan asked himself, looking at her and observing all her reactions.
"Do you not like it?" Aria asked when Tristan’s eyes on her beca too intense. She wanted to know what he was thinking, but it was hard to read his expression. Sotis he is smiling and teasing her, while other tis, he feels distant, cold, and unapproachable.
Tristan smiled and replied, "It’s good. Since you are not hungry, you have to stay with until I finish everything." He took another bite, and even though he knew that she might have poisoned the food, he still ate it.
As per his request, Aria stood and watched him eat, and as soon as he finished his food, she spoke up, "Can we talk?"
"Let’s talk later; I have a busy day tomorrow." Tristan said, his heart breaking at the revelation that not once did she stop him from eating. Although he didn’t perceive any wolfsbane from the food he just ate, he was certain that those pills were for him. If Milton is using Aria to kill him, then the best thod would be to poison him slowly. It would be a poison that would leave no trace, hence the magic he had sensed from the pill.
Aria frowned at his cold tone and wondered why he had changed his deanor again. He was looking happy when he was eating, so why has his mood suddenly changed? What kind of a man is this?
"It’s important." Aria said and slamd the bottle of pills Milton had given her on the table.
Tristan’s eyes narrowed at the pills, and she wondered what she was doing.
"I have a confession to make, but in return you must promise not to kill but to help instead. Killing will be a loss for you because no one will be able to make you delicious food for free anymore." Aria said boldly, but the trembling of her hands was enough to tell how scared and anxious she was.
Tristan chuckled and folded his hands as he asked, "Is that why you kept asking if I was enjoying the al?
Aria fidgeted with her fingers as she replied, "My grandma always told that a man can never refuse you once he has been fed good food, and since my grandmother has never been wrong, I decided to give it a try."
"Well, I promise not to kill you."
"Regardless of what I am about to tell you?"
"Regardless of what you are about to tell ." Tristan collected the pills on the table as he asked, "These are not for your grandmother, are they?"
Aria shook her head and replied, "They are not. They were given to by Alpha Milton to put in your food every day. He said that if I do that, then you will be dead within three months, and then I will get the permanent antidote for my grandmother’s poison."
"If my death will ensure your grandmother’s survival, then why aren’t you doing it?"
Aria’s eyes beca watery as she replied, "Because she will be so disappointed in , and I... I can’t do it. You have been so nice to ever since we t, and I can’t see myself hurting you."
Tristan dropped the pills on the table and walked over to Aria. He picked her up gently and sat her on the dining table, his eyes fixed on hers.
Aria looked away from him, but he made her look at him by lifting up her chin. "I will find a cure for your grandmother."
"You will?" Aria asked in surprise.
"I will get the cure, but you have to make sure Milton doesn’t suspect a thing. Let him think that you are still on his side and that I am taking these pills. Do you understand?"
Aria nodded and softly whispered, "You are not mad."
Tristan smiled and said, "I am actually glad."
"Glad?"
Tristan nodded and carried her hands to his lips. "I’m glad that you trusted enough to tell the truth."
Aria looked at him and wondered why she felt safe in his arms. She wondered why her heart began hurting her when she wanted to poison his als.
Tristan noticed the way Aria was looking at him and asked, "What?"
"Why aren’t you angry? I lied to you. Everything I have told you since we t has been a lie. I married you because Alpha Milton asked to. I was sent to kill you, and I just told you all that, but yet..."
Tristan silenced her with his lips, and this ti he wasn’t as gentle as before. He passionately claid her lips and softly invaded her mouth with his tongue.
Aria closed her eyes and wrapped her hands around his neck as she followed his lead. Why was he so good at seducing her? At making her mind feel completely blank?
A moan softly slipped from her mouth, and Aria was surprised that such a sound ca out of her.
Tristan pulled away for them to catch their breath and said, "I am not angry because I already have what I want."
Aria looked at him confusedly. What does that an?
Tristan could see the confusion and question in her eyes, but he only smiled playfully and affectionately kissed her forehead.
Why was he being so nice and caring towards her? Aria asked herself and was about to ask him this question when his eyes lost their glow and returned back to their dark brown.
"Your eyes?"
"I know. Unfortunately, there is a limit to which I can use Zolan eyes to see." Tristan said, holding Aria’s hand and placing it on his chest. Even though all he could see was darkness, he still felt comfort in his heart.
"Zolan?"
"My wolf. Would you like to see him one day?"
"Yes." Aria replied with a smile. She could rember all the tis she had begged Damien to show her his wolf, but he never did. She wondered how he was doing. It’s been two years since they spoke. Will they ever see each other again? Would her heart still skip a beat at the sight of him?
