Married First, Loved Later : A Flash Marriage with My Ex's 'Uncle' Chapter 392: Disfigured
Selina jolted upright in bed the mont she heard the shout, sleep gone in an instant. She excitedly nudged Logan.
"Co on, get up! You don’t want to miss the show!"
Logan wasn’t actually asleep. He had been curious what Alia might pull next, but Selina’s eagerness made him pause for a beat.
The commotion had woken Jack and the butler as well. Cursing the mother-son duo in his head, Jack still ca to report to Logan.
Logan pulled on his jacket. "What happened?"
Jack looked like he didn’t know where to start. "Sir... Mrs. Perry appears to be... disfigured."
Logan’s hand froze mid-motion. He turned to Selina with a look of intrigued suspicion. "Disfigured?"
"Yes. Owen was yelling that Alia’s been poisoned. She already called a doctor and..." Jack grimaced, "she called the police too."
Selina nearly applauded. Quick move, Alia.
Logan gave a calm nod. "Got it."
Then, with a glance toward Selina, he added pointedly, "Just a reminder—Pear Blossom Estate is under full surveillance. Even inside the guest houses. No blind spots."
Selina’s eyes lit up. "No blind spots?"
"None."
"That’s perfect!" she bead. "Alia’s already called the cops, right? Once they get here, they can check the footage and see exactly who did the poisoning!"
Logan raised an eyebrow. "And who does Mrs. Reid think did it?"
Selina smiled sweetly. "My guess? Owen."
Jack nearly tripped over himself. That had to be the worst guess possible—especially since Owen clearly looked like a victim too.
By the ti they arrived at Alia’s courtyard, the place was chaos.
Doctors were rushing in and out, Owen was crying and trying to comfort his mother, and Alia was too hoarse to scream, only able to wail in a rasping voice.
Selina walked in and nearly recoiled in shock at the sight of Alia’s face.
The damage was... complete.
Alia had once held onto the Perry Family’s affection, stolen their true daughter’s place, even taken her husband. That had taken beauty—and now that beauty was ruined. Her face was a ss of scars and ridges, utterly horrifying.
Alia was falling apart. Her face—her face!
The doctor on site, Dr. Lewis from the dical Alliance, caught Selina’s eye and nodded subtly before announcing:
"Mrs. Reid, the scarring on Mrs. Perry’s face and Mr. Owen’s hand is the result of a specific toxin. Based on the symptoms, exposure occurred around 1 a.m. Recovery will take at least a month, and even then... it’s unlikely to fully heal. Scars are inevitable."
Alia was already unraveling. Hearing that sent her into complete internal collapse.
She and Owen were both poisoned—so who could’ve done it? There were only a few people in all of Pear Blossom Estate!
Owen, boiling over, glared at Logan. "Aren’t you the least bit afraid?!"
Before Logan could reply, Selina interjected, her tone smooth.
"Of course we’re afraid. Today it’s Mrs. Perry—who knows who’s next? Maybe . Owen, I do hope you’ll make sure the culprit is caught."
Owen nearly fell over. That wasn’t what he ant at all—he was trying to accuse Logan of guilt!
Alia, wild-eyed and trembling, suddenly lunged forward and pointed a shaking finger at Logan.
"It was you... it had to be you! You poisoned us! Logan, how could you be so heartless?! He’s your brother—I’m your mother! Are you happy now that my face is ruined?!"
Logan didn’t even flinch. His expression remained cold, unreadable—utterly unaffected.
That only made Alia more unhinged. That calm look was just like Anna’s. Even when Alia stole everything, Anna had died with that sa damn peace in her eyes.
Alia shrieked in a rage.
"Arrest this ungrateful bastard! Arrest him!"
No one moved. Not a single soul dared.
Alia was beside herself with rage. "Fine! Fine! If none of you will do it, I’ll do it myself!"
She charged forward, shouting, "It’s all because of you, you damn jinx! I should’ve—should’ve gotten rid of you twenty years ago—!"
"You should’ve killed Logan twenty years ago, is that what you were about to say?" Selina stepped in front of Logan, grabbing Alia’s wrist and twisting it sharply. A bloodcurdling scream tore from Alia’s throat.
Her hands trembled violently. "Who the hell do you think you are?! Get out of my way! This is between and Logan—you have no right to interfere! You ungrateful brat! You poisoned your own mother—fine! Then I’ll do what must be done and disown you publicly!"
Selina smiled sweetly, her voice like honey but laced with barbs.
"Mrs. Perry, what are you talking about? I understand Logan didn’t grow up by your side, and maybe you’ve never liked him... but you can’t just accuse him of every terrible thing under the sun."
She gave Logan a long, dramatic look. "Poor Logan... unloved by both father and mother. Abandoned as a child through no fault of his own, only to co ho and find soone else had taken his place... how tragic."
All eyes turned toward them.
Alia nearly choked on her own fury.
Poor Logan?
He was the tragic one?!
Was Selina seriously spewing this nonsense with a straight face?
Her fingers trembled as she pointed, voice cracking with rage. "If it wasn’t Logan, then it was you! Only the two of you had the chance to poison !"
Selina lowered her gaze, eyes glistening with mock hurt. Her tone turned soft, almost fragile.
"But Mrs. Perry, the doctor said the poisoning happened around 1 a.m. Logan and I were already asleep by then. We live quite far from your courtyard—if Logan had left, the surveillance caras would’ve caught it."
Her performance was flawless. Gentle. Pitiful. Perfect.
"If Pear Blossom Estate didn’t have caras everywhere, I might’ve just confessed, just to stop Mrs. Perry from getting so upset. But with that footage... well, if I confessed now, people might say you can’t tell right from wrong. I couldn’t let you carry that burden, Mrs. Perry."
Logan’s smirk deepened.
Jack was practically holding his breath. If she keeps going, Alia’s going to drop dead from rage.
Right then, the butler entered with the security footage in hand.
The video confird it: Logan and Selina had never left their residence the entire night.
Selina tilted her head, expression sincere.
"See, Mrs. Perry? At the ti you were poisoned, we were both asleep. So it couldn’t have been us."
Alia’s fury exploded. "Then the timing must be wrong! Who else could it be?!"
Selina blinked, feigning confusion. "But the doctor said it was around 1:30 a.m...."
Alia, desperate to pin it on Logan, shouted, "You must’ve bribed the doctor!"
"Oh?" Selina looked surprised. "But Dr. Lewis is from the dical Alliance. Everyone knows they don’t fake records. Are you saying... you don’t trust the dical Alliance?"
The mood shifted instantly. Several doctors and onlookers shot Alia sharp, hostile looks.
Daring to question the dical Alliance? That was like declaring war on the entire dical community.
They’d co out in the middle of the night, given her their professional judgnt—and now she was accusing them of bias?
All because she was trying to fra her own son.
They didn’t say a word, but their expressions said it all: She’s lost it.
