Angelica’s smug expression froze instantly. "Selina, what nonsense are you talking about?!"

Selina remained calm. "Logan doesn’t want you. He wouldn’t have slept with you. But if the baby isn’t from the Reid Family, there’s no way you’d fool them. That ans this baby will never be born—because it never existed in the first place."

She was certain Logan had nothing to do with the child. And even if Angelica tried to pass off soone else’s baby as his, the risk was too high.

On top of that, Angelica’s pulse didn’t feel like that of a pregnant woman. That was all Selina needed to conclude—Angelica was never pregnant at all.

Angelica’s throat tightened. "I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m going upstairs to rest!"

She quickly stood up and rushed upstairs, like sothing terrifying was chasing her.

Selina took a sip of tea, her expression thoughtful.

Did Grandpa Reid know Angelica wasn’t pregnant?

Or Joe?

Upstairs, Angelica forced herself to calm down.

So what if Selina figured it out—she had no proof. No need to panic.

Still, the "baby" was becoming a problem. She had used a drug to fake the pregnancy, but the effect would only last a month. She’d never be able to actually give birth to a Reid child, so...

Angelica’s gaze darkened. A cold, twisted smile crept onto her lips.

Selina, you shouldn’t have uncovered my secret. So don’t bla for what happens next.

Downstairs.

Selina propped up her chin and watched as Alia clung to Joe like a seasoned socialite. She couldn’t help but chuckle.

"Logan, your mom’s still got it, huh?"

The sarcasm in "still got it" didn’t go unnoticed. Logan chuckled. "Mrs. Perry and Chairman Morris go way back."

Selina raised her eyebrows. "Oh? Didn’t see that coming."

Logan replied nonchalantly, "Back in the day, Chairman Morris was the dream man for every woman in City H."

Selina imdiately got it—so Alia had tried to seduce Joe in the past, and failed.

"So Mrs. Perry and Mrs. Morris were rivals in love? And now she treats Angelica like her own daughter. That’s... surprisingly gracious of her."

On the other side of the room, Joe looked at Alia with thinly veiled annoyance.

"Mrs. Reid, is there sothing else?"

Alia looked at him, her face stiffening with reluctant envy.

Back then, what did Victoria have that she didn’t? Alia was the most doted-on daughter of the Perry Family, and she matched Morris Family in status. Victoria had nothing—no support, no standing. The entire Morris Family opposed her, except for Joe.

Even Grandma Morris threatened death, and Joe still chose Victoria. Why?

Alia couldn’t wait to flaunt herself. "Joe, we’re about to beco in-laws. There’s no harm in getting to know each other better, right?"

Joe frowned. "You can get to know after Angelica actually gets married."

Alia sighed deliberately. "I’m just worried Angelica might be mistreated in the Reid Family. I wanted to understand you better—I really do see her as my own daughter."

Joe hesitated, then asked, "What if Selina refuses to divorce? What are you going to do?"

Alia smiled coldly.

What else could they do? Let Selina end up like Victoria.

The dead don’t fight for titles.

Alia sighed again. "Hopefully, she’ll step down willingly. Otherwise... who knows what Mom and Dad will do. None of us want Angelica’s child to be branded a bastard."

Joe found it odd. "Mrs. Reid, I rember you never liked Victoria. But you care about Angelica that much?"

Alia’s face twitched slightly.

Because she knew Angelica wasn’t Victoria’s daughter. Selina was. But that could never be revealed to Joe. So she forced a smile.

"Joe, don’t say that. I was young and foolish back then. It’s been over twenty years—what’s the point of holding grudges? Angelica just reminds so much of Victoria. That’s why I can’t help but care for her."

Joe seed to accept the answer, but it was obvious he didn’t want to talk to Alia any longer. Instead, he walked straight over to Selina.

"Miss Clark, may I speak with you in private?"

Selina, who had been quietly watching the drama unfold, blinked. She glanced at Alia, whose expression was a mix of resentnt and fear, and nodded. "Sure."

Logan’s gaze darkened slightly.

Selina followed Joe to a quiet corner. "Chairman Morris, what do you want to say?"

Joe’s expression was complicated. "I just spoke with Alia. She said if you refuse to divorce, the Reid Family won’t make life easy for you. Miss Clark, I have no intention of targeting you—I just want to advise you to divorce sooner rather than later."

"If you divorce now, the Morris Family can offer you a financial settlent and help arrange a good marriage. But if you wait until the Reid Family takes matters into their own hands, it won’t be so simple."

Selina crossed her arms. "Chairman Morris, you and your son really are alike. You even speak the sa way."

Joe was stunned. "Kyle spoke to you?"

Kyle had always looked down on Selina—why would he try to reason with her?

Joe insisted, "Miss Clark, I’m not trying to scare you. But compatibility matters. People from the sa background have better outcos. You and Mr. Reid—"

"Chairman Morris," Selina suddenly cut in. "I heard that Alia once had feelings for you. She went out of her way to go against Mrs. Morris, so the two of them were love rivals."

"Now think about this: Angelica is supposedly the daughter of her old rival. Yet Alia treats her even better than her own son. Doesn’t that strike you as strange?"

Selina left it at that. All she needed was to expose Angelica’s fake pregnancy.

Joe seed to fall into deep thought. "Maybe... Angelica’s just naturally likable. And besides, Victoria’s been gone for over twenty years..."

"What did you just say?!"

Selina had been about to walk away but froze when she heard that na. She turned sharply, her face changing. "Chairman Morris, what did you just say your wife’s na was?"

Joe, confused, replied, "Her na was Victoria... Miss Clark, what’s wrong?"

Selina suddenly felt a wave of dizziness crash over her. Nausea, chills, and a sharp pain spread through her body like a tidal wave.

"You said... your wife’s na was Victoria?"

Joe nodded.

Cold sweat broke out on Selina’s forehead. Her whole body ached and throbbed with sickness, as if she had just heard the cruelest joke in the world.

Suddenly, her mind flashed back to that antique fair where she had shown a rcy Petal Lamp—an item her mother had left behind. Joe had insisted it once belonged to Mrs. Morris.

Now it made sense—because her mother and Mrs. Morris were the sa person.

All the confusion, the unanswered questions, the strange behavior over the years—it all clicked at once.

No wonder Jas doted on Angelica but still refused to register her under the Clark Family na, only ever calling her an "adopted stepdaughter."

No wonder the Clark Family worked so hard to send Selina to the countryside and kept making trips to City H.

No wonder Joe and Angelica’s "reunion" happened so smoothly, without any resistance.

Because it had all been part of Angelica’s plan.

Joe’s wife was nad Victoria... and Selina’s mother was also nad Victoria...

That was the secret the entire Clark Family had been hiding.

So that ans... so...
