Phoebe’s POV

Heat flooded my cheeks at his words, and I tried to scramble away, but my limbs refused to obey. My frustration only grew when Perry chuckled at my pathetic escape attempt.

"You’re staying right here, love." His teeth caught my nipple, delivering a gentle bite before his tongue soothed the sting. He knew exactly what drove wild. There was no getting away from him now. "Think you’re going sowhere?"

The dress felt suffocating against my skin. Between the blazing sun overhead and the fire burning inside , I couldn’t stand it anymore. This fabric clinging to my body had to go.

I craved skin-to-skin contact with my mate.

"See? You’re practically desperate for ." Perry peeled the dress away from my body, and when the breeze kissed my bare skin, I exhaled in pure relief—especially as he settled between my thighs. "Mmm, always so wet and ready." His tongue traced my earlobe, sending tremors through my entire fra.

Within monts, he was buried deep inside .

I was molten and snug around him, absolutely perfect, exactly what he craved.

"Shit, Phoebe..." Perry’s growl vibrated against my ear.

I was teetering on the edge, my teeth sinking into his shoulder as the pressure built, ready to shatter completely—then suddenly, he wrenched himself away and pulled out.

"Damn it!" His curse was vicious as he snatched up my dress, then shot to his feet to yank on his boxers. A string of profanity poured from his lips as he stord away from .

What the hell just happened? An aching emptiness settled in my gut. He’d left hanging! Though he hadn’t finished either.

I quickly pulled my dress back on. If Perry had torn himself away mid-passion like that, it ant only one thing—soone was heading our way and had ruined our heated mont.

Damn it!

I needed to see who the culprit was.

Finding Perry wasn’t hard since his voice carried sharp and angry through the air, and his imposing fra stood out among the flower beds.

Facing him, Timothy wore a sheepish grin and gave a small wave when he spotted approaching.

Perry kept his back to , though he sensed my approach.

"War room. Now. Move."

Perry fixed Timothy with a deadly stare.

"Can’t I at least greet her?" Timothy had no clue he’d interrupted anything—the servants had simply told him we were here. He’d rushed straight from the main entrance to deliver his report and volunteer for the fight against the Valerium.

He couldn’t have picked worse timing.

Yet he showed zero remorse, still beaming at like an idiot.

"Leave now, or I’ll boot you straight to the Valerium myself." Perry’s warning was ice-cold, finally making Timothy back down.

"Alright, alright." Timothy smirked in my direction, then flashed a wide grin while waving at from behind Perry. "Good to see you again, Phoebe. You look... amazing."

That’s when Perry lifted his foot to punt him.

Luckily, Timothy caught the movent and smoothly dodged, backing away while laughing his ass off.

"I’m making him frontline cannon fodder," Perry muttered darkly.

I knew he’d never actually do it. Smiling, I rubbed his back soothingly. Timothy was irritating, but I’d missed the gamma.

"Sorry, but I have to go." Perry walked back with to the wisteria tree where he’d left his shirt and pants. "I’ll make this up to you tonight, I swear."

My face burned at the promise, and Perry groaned.

"Quit tempting —I’ve got crucial business to handle." He leaned down for a kiss, but when he pulled back, separating from looked physically painful.

I was baffled. When had I tempted him? Completely unfair.

With that, he left alone in the garden while I returned to my book and dozed beneath the tree. The breeze was perfect, carrying the sweet fragrance of surrounding blooms. So peaceful—I’d definitely make this a regular habit.

Later, I made my way to the war room, drawn by the gravity of the situation. The serenity I had enjoyed under the wisteria tree was nowhere to be found here. The atmosphere was its complete opposite—tension thick enough to choke on.

Even Timothy, who’d been so carefree and cheerful when he’d stumbled upon us in the garden, had lost every trace of his playfulness. I watched as the gamma’s expression turned grave while he delivered his report about tracking the surviving Valerium warriors and the escapee.

"Confird that Reginald and the Valerium royal beta are both alive. They’re hiding sowhere deep in the forest. We’ve reinforced border security, expecting them to attempt crossing back into Valerium territory," Timothy reported, his tone heavy and grim.

Every elder, senior warrior, and key figure including the alphas had gathered in the war room.

Despite the crowd, the space didn’t feel cramped—a testant to the room’s vast size.

According to their strategy, Perry would depart for the border soon to wage war against the Valerium, personally leading the warriors into battle.

"There’s a way to draw them out," Perry declared, his gaze shifting to Turner.
