Phoebe’s POV

My body went rigid when Reginald’s gaze fixed on . I swallowed hard, the motion painful. I shouldn’t have returned to this room. I should’ve remained in the oga quarters, found so way to escape this pack.

Or... figured out how to end this pregnancy.

I didn’t want Kevin’s child.

Every thought of him twisted my stomach into knots. The idea that his blood ran through what grew inside made sick.

"You’re pregnant." Reginald spun around, his stare boring into . "If you’re carrying a child, it’s Kevin’s." Not a question. A cold fact.

I couldn’t read Reginald’s thoughts about my condition, but danger radiated from him in waves.

"Please, let leave. I won’t be trouble for you."

I shook my head frantically. "I’ll stay quiet, do whatever you demand." The words tasted like ash—begging for my life just like I’d done with Kevin.

This crushing weight pressed against my chest. Here I was, repeating the sa desperate plea, only to a different monster.

I barely knew Reginald, but the whispers painted him the sa as Kevin. Another predator who took what he wanted.

"Please, I’ll do anything—"

Agony tore through my belly before I could finish. Instinct made look down. Reginald’s hand had punched through , claws buried deep.

"Perfect. Now die," he snarled, his voice stripped of any warmth. No hesitation. No rcy.

To him, the baby and I were threats to eliminate.

He wouldn’t let his plans crumble, not after everything he’d sacrificed.

Reginald had murdered Kevin to leave Alpha Sterling without an heir.

But if Sterling discovered I carried Kevin’s child, everything would change. The old alpha would pour everything into raising that baby.

"Not happening." Reginald yanked his hand free. I collapsed, blood pooling beneath from the gaping wound.

My body convulsed, fighting to heal itself before surrendering to the inevitable.

Blood filled the air with its tallic stench.

Now Reginald faced cleanup duty before anyone stumbled onto his ss.

Consciousness ca and went like tide.

Sotis I’d surface in soone’s arms. The identity remained fuzzy, but comfort mixed with profound sadness in those monts.

Other tis, a woman’s gentle voice drifted over as soft hands tended my wounds. Her words blurred together, aningless sounds I couldn’t grasp.

Then there were the lonely stretches. Cold seeped into my bones, exhaustion weighed down, but the hollow ache inside overshadowed everything else.

I couldn’t tell if the nightmares or this empty reality tortured more. Ti beca aningless.

How long had I been trapped like this? And why?

mory stirred, but sothing deep inside warned away. So horror lurked there that I wasn’t ready to face.

But when awareness returned this ti, it held. A man stepped into the room.

Our eyes locked. Those electric blue depths that haunted even my dreams. Everything crashed back.

The pain. The helplessness. My devastating loss... my baby.

"Phoebe," Perry whispered my na like a prayer. Shock flickered across his features seeing truly awake. Before, I’d been too weak to maintain consciousness, but alertness sharpened my gaze now.

A month had crawled by since the attack. So much had shifted in that ti.

I was back in my own bedroom after repairs were completed. Perry stayed here whenever kingdom business didn’t demand his attention.

"You’re awake." Perry mindlinked the warrior outside to fetch Marcela for an examination. He moved toward the bed where I continued staring at him.

Most of my wounds had sealed over. Marcela had explained how close I’d co to dying. My body couldn’t handle much more trauma.

One more critical injury would finish . They had to treat like spun glass now.

Perry had pressed Marcela for detailed instructions on my care.

That’s when he learned the devastating truth—pregnancy would be nearly impossible for now. My damaged body made carrying a child extrely dangerous.

Not only would I likely die, but any baby probably wouldn’t survive to term either.

Marcela had looked stricken delivering this news, knowing how crucial heirs were to royalty. Especially for Perry, the last of his bloodline after eliminating his own family for the throne.

But Perry had simply ordered her silence. Not even his beta or gamma could know.

If this was his punishnt for failing and our first child, he’d bear it. He carried many regrets, but this one would follow him to the grave.

"Here, drink so water," Perry offered, extending a glass. "I’ll help you."

I slapped his hand away and shoved the glass. It shattered against the floor.
