Creak!

The door let out a low creaking sound as it was pushed open from behind.

"Leon..." A woman with long blonde hair slowly stepped into the room, staring at Leon with a warm expression on her face.

"So... what is it...?" Leon muttered, narrowing his eyes slightly at her.

He had been planning to go to sleep after a few minutes, but the sudden knock took away every trace of sleep in his body, making him feel a little annoyed.

Ignoring Leon’s rather rude reply, the woman let out a low sigh, before glancing back at him.

"Soone’s here to see you... it’s Harry." She said in a soft voice, causing Leon’s eyes to widen in shock.

"R-really?!" He shouted, swiftly sitting up on his bed.

His forr plan to sleep after a few minutes was imdiately thrown out of the window, as he hurriedly got up from his bed.

"Yeah... you should go see him." His mother continued, before leaving the room.

’She’s acting strange... I’m sure now, sothing really did happen with him!’ Leon thought, his brows furrowing into a deep frown. ’I sure hope he’s okay.’

He quickly put on a simple shirt, before dashing out to the living room.

The mont he entered the living room, his eyes t with that of a brown haired boy sitting at the edge of one of the sofas.

"Harry..." Leon muttered, slowly walking towards the boy.

"Hey... Leon." Harry replied, flashing a light smile at him.

But despite his smile, he still couldn’t hide his swollen red eyes, as well as the dark circles under them.

Without needing to ask, Leon could already tell that sothing was up... and he doubted it was anything good.

anwhile, within Leon’s mind, Harry could only awkwardly observe the scene playing out in front of him.

’No matter how many tis I see him... it still feels weird, like I’m looking at myself.’ He thought.

Though this Harry looked a lot better than he did when he was at that age, mainly due to the fact that he wasn’t malnourished like he had been and was actually brought up with love and care.

However, even that was still weird to him for so reason.

No matter how he tried to do so, he couldn’t imagine his biological family... the Mortons being so caring and loving.

The re image of that just seed impossible to him, which further confird his thoughts, that this Harry was a lot different from him.

He was the literal personification of what he could have been like... if his life hadn’t turned out the way he did. If every major thing that happened to him... didn’t happen.

From what he learnt from Leon’s mories, this Harry was an Elentalist, and a very talented one at that.

He awakened a peak fire grade affinity at the young, yet ripe age of ten, which was the literal opposite of Harry, who didn’t awaken anything at all.

Besides, Harry didn’t see anything about him having a sibling within the few things he was able to access from Leon’s mories.

aning that, this Harry was an only child, and Trent didn’t exist in this world also.

All these discoveries only brought up more questions in his mind. The more things he learnt about Leon and the Harry of this world, the more confused he beca.

Nonetheless, he could only push those questions to the back of his mind for now, as he was sure he would find the answer to them sooner or later.

"What happened...?" Leon’s asked after a few minutes of silence, taking a seat beside the brown haired boy.

"Leon... have you heard?" Harry asked, staring off into space.

"Heard... about what?" Leon replied with another question of his own, finding the boy’s words sowhat confusing.

"The r-rift... which o-opened up in Ridvalle." Harry replied, his voice cracking in between his words.

"N-no... I’ve—Are you okay...?" Harry asked, lightly tapping the brown haired boy on his shoulder.

All he had done during his free ti for the past week was lock himself up on his room and train his elent, so he hadn’t exactly been current with the happenings of the world.

However, he felt a little terrible for doing so now.

Unlike his parents who were involved in artefacts, Harry’s parents were adventurers, and they were quite powerful ones at that.

His mother especially held quite a high-ranking position in the AMO, as she was a powerful fire mage.

It was also why they weren’t usually around, leaving Harry alone with the servants in their huge mansion.

Nonetheless, that didn’t an they didn’t care for him, as they made sure he never lacked anything, despite their frequent absence.

Perhaps if he had tried to listen to the news at least once during the last two days, he might have heard about sothing related to them.

However, he did nothing of the sort, simply focusing on his desire to get more powerful.

"Y-yeah." Harry muttered, weakly nodding his head.

"My m-mom, she went into the rift... and then..." He slowly continued, his words suddenly trailing towards the end.

As he listened to his words, Leon’s eyes slowly widened in shock, already getting an idea of where Harry was heading to.

’Don’t tell ...’ He thought, lightly clenching his hands in a fist.

"No... she’s not dead." As if he could hear his thoughts, Harry suddenly spoke, causing him to let out a sigh of relief.

"They said... h-her mana core’s corrupted... and the c-chances of her surviving is less than fifteen percent." The boy suddenly said, causing Leon’s eyes to widen in shock.

"W-what? Her... mana core’s corrupted... what does that an...?" He muttered, his brows furrowing into a deep frown.

"I-I don’t know... t-they won’t even let see her... saying it could spread to also." Harry said, his voice cracking even more as he spoke.

"I-is this it... w-what’s that even s-supposed to an...?" He muttered, his body trembling as he continuously fiddled with his fingers. "Is that the... end for her?"

"Hey, you shouldn’t think like that. If she’s still alive... then that ans she’s still fighting. I’m sure she’ll pull through." Leon said, however, even he didn’t believe his words.

Nonetheless, he was sure her being alive ant there was still hope for her to survive... and he prayed within him that she did.

Unbeknownst to the two boys, there was another person ’with’ them who was also confused about what was going on.

’What the hell is a mana core corruption? How does a mana core even get corrupted?!’ Harry thought, more questions popping up in his head.

However, he no answers to any of them.
