"Xie Xuanzi, you bastard! Let go! Do you know who I am?" Xiao Jun roared angrily.

Turning to him, Xie Xuanzi smiled and nodded, "Of course, I know. You are a rotten criminal."

"You—!"

Before he could say another word, Xie Xuanzi said, "Gag him. He’s too noisy."

A soldier picked up a floor cloth nearby and shoved it into Xiao Jun’s mouth, making him feel nauseous and shutting him off.

After he was dragged away, Xie Xuanzi turned to Grandpa Xiao and said, "Old General, I will take my leave now. Please take good care of your health so you can live a few years longer."

As soon as he finished his words, he turned around and left the Xiao mansion.

Grandpa Xiao was so angry that the pain in his chest intensified. Seeing this, Uncle Wen was alard. He quickly took the heart dicine from the cabinet and fed it to Grandpa Xiao.

"Master, please calm your anger," he said while rubbing Grandpa Xiao’s back.

After a while, Grandpa Xiao finally cald down. He still felt the tightness in his chest but was no longer out of breath. Holding onto Uncle Wen’s hand, he said, "Call the eldest and tell him to save his brother’s life!"

Uncle Wen nodded and said, "Master, I will make the call right away."

At the sa ti, Xiao Feng was in the middle of a eting when Uncle Wen made the phone call, so he only learned that his second brother had been arrested from Xie Xuanzi in the evening.

Sitting in his office, he let out a cold laugh as he said, "Captain Xie, you don’t have to worry about the Xiao family. I will take care of them. Just deal with the case according to the law."

Hearing this, Xie Xuanzi nodded and replied, "Understood."

While the capital was under a tense atmosphere, another day passed.

To avoid his father, Xiao Feng didn’t return to the Xiao mansion for several days, while his wife went to visit her parents’ house in another city.

As for Xiao Yiguan and Xiao Yiqing, one of them was on a mission and couldn’t be contacted, while the other lived her leisurely life at the military compound.

Ten days later, Xiao Jun’s case finally went to its first trial. At ten o’clock in the morning, the courtroom was filled with people who ca to watch.

Most of those who ca were either family mbers of the victims hard by Xiao Jun or people sent by politicians from other cities.

Besides them, the Xiao family relatives also attended the court, including Grandpa Xiao and Uncle Wen. After ten days, he already knew it was impossible to ask his eldest son to save his second son.

Due to this matter, the father and son no longer spoke to each other. At the sa ti, Xiao Feng and his family had already moved out of the Xiao family mansion while Grandpa Xiao was away visiting a friend to ask for help.

Since they no longer lived under the sa roof, it was hard for Grandpa Xiao to find his eldest son when Xiao Feng was determined to avoid him.

Today, the two of them finally t in the courtroom. Grandpa Xiao looked at his eldest son coldly before he asked, "You still have the face to see ?"

Xiao Feng sat beside his father and replied calmly, "Father, I don’t understand what you are saying."

"Don’t pretend to be a fool! I know you are the one behind all of this," Grandpa Xiao said angrily.

Hearing this, Xiao Feng chuckled and said, "Father, if you want to put the bla on , you should at least have the evidence. No one asked Xiao Jun to commit all those cris. What happened today is the result of his own doing."

The mont he said this, Grandpa Xiao glared at him and said, "Xiao Feng, Xiao Jun is your brother! How can you be so heartless and do nothing when you can save him?!"

"Father, as a soldier, he clearly knew he was violating the law. But after being arrested, he not only didn’t repent, he even tried to bribe the judge. This ti, even if you used all of the Xiao family’s wealth and resources, you wouldn’t be able to save him," Xiao Feng replied before standing up.

"Xiao Feng!"

Without giving his father a chance to say another word, Xiao Feng walked toward another row of benches and sat beside his wife.

Noticing her husband’s bad mood, Zhao Xirui held his arm and asked with a hint of worry, "Husband, are you okay?"

Xiao Feng patted his wife’s hand and said, "I’m fine, don’t worry."

The two of them exchanged a silent glance for a mont before the courtroom doors were opened and the judge entered.

"The judge is here, everyone, stand up."

After the judge, prosecutor, attorney, jury, and staff took their seats, the trial finally started.

"Bring the defendant in," the Judge said.

Not long after, the door was pulled open and Xiao Jun entered the courtroom in handcuffs, guarded by two soldiers.

The mont the crowd saw him, so pulled out rotten eggs and vegetables from under the benches and started throwing them at him. These people were the family mbers of those Xiao Jun had killed.

Seeing the situation, the judge slamd his gavel and said, "Order! Order!"

The guards quickly cald the crowd while Xiao Jun was dragged to the defendant’s chair. His hair and face were covered in rotten eggs and vegetables, but he showed no emotion.

It took a while for the courtroom to settle down. After it finally quieted, the judge nodded at the prosecutor, and the trial officially began.

Since they had ironclad evidence and witnesses, the result was as expected. After several hearings, Xiao Jun was found guilty and sentenced to death.

Before his execution, he would be imprisoned for five years and subjected to hard labor. No one would be allowed to visit him, and all his properties would be confiscated.
