The mont Lu Jueyu heard her second brother and second sister-in-law's conversation, her mind buzzed, and she suddenly felt embarrassed. She knew that her second sister-in-law was open-minded and even wrote a yellow book. But she never expected that they would be this wild.
She was hesitating on whether to knock or not when Mother Lu walked over and asked, "Jueyu, ah, why didn't you go in when you were already here?"
As soon as she said this, the voice inside stopped abruptly. Not long after, Lu Cheng opened the door and said with a hint of embarrassnt, "Mother, Jueyu, you are here."
Mother Lu glanced at her second son and noticed that his ears were red. Seeing how he kept rubbing his knees, she knew that he might have caused trouble again and been punished by his wife.
To save him so face, she ignored him and went to check on her second daughter-in-law. As she walked into the bedroom, she asked, "Ah Xiao, did Ah Cheng make you angry again?"
Wang Muxiao smiled at her mother-in-law and said, "Mother, you are here."
Then, she glared at her husband but still said, "He didn't make angry."
Mother Lu placed a bowl of fish soup on the small table on the Kang bed and said, "Drink the soup first."
"Thank you, Mother," Wang Muxiao said as she picked up the bowl and drank the soup.
After hearing their conversation, Lu Jueyu felt awkward facing her second brother and second sister-in-law.
Noticing her standing there, Mother Lu asked, "Jueyu, what are you doing standing there? Co and sit here."
Lu Jueyu nodded and put down the bamboo basket at the bedside before sitting beside her mother. After calming down, she said, "Second sister-in-law, the weather is getting cold, so I brought so cotton and fabric over for my niece and nephews to make so winter clothes."
When Lu Cheng heard this, he asked, "Jueyu, where did you buy the cotton and fabric? I went to the county town several tis but was always unable to buy anything."
"It's leftover from making Ah Li and Xiao Huang's winter clothes. Since my nephews don't need much cotton and fabric to make their clothes, the amount should be enough. I just hope you won't dislike them since they are leftovers," Lu Jueyu replied.
Waving his hand, Lu Cheng said, "Why are you being so polite with your own brother? As long as it's from you, we will like it."
"Your second brother is right, Jueyu. Don't overthink things," Wang Muxiao added.
As soone who had experienced pregnancy before, she knew that pregnant won tended to overthink and often ended up feeling down. Therefore, it was important to keep a pregnant woman in a good mood.
Lu Jueyu smiled and nodded. "Second sister-in-law, I won't overthink."
"By the way, Jueyu, have you thought of nas for my sons?" Lu Cheng asked.
Hearing this, Lu Jueyu smiled and said, "Second brother, I actually ca today to talk about that. My husband and I already discussed the nas, and we think Lu Wendao and Lu Wenjie are good."
Lu Cheng murmured the nas for a mont before asking, "Jueyu, what's the aning behind these nas?"
"'Dao' with the aning of 'way,' and 'Jie' with the aning of 'outstanding.' I hope that my nephews will find their own paths and beco outstanding people in the future," Lu Jueyu replied as she gazed at her nephews gently.
After they heard the anings behind the nas, everyone nodded, and Wang Muxiao said with satisfaction, "It was indeed a wise decision to ask you to na the children."
"Wendao and Wenjie are good nas! If I nad them, I might have ended up calling them Tiedan or Shidan," Lu Cheng added, laughing.
"What iron egg and stone egg? You are not allowed to call them that, even as nicknas," Wang Muxiao said while glaring at her husband.
The mont he heard this, Lu Cheng readily agreed. "Wife, I won't call them that, I promise."
Wang Muxiao rolled her eyes at him and continued chatting with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
While Lu Jueyu was spending ti leisurely with her family, Li Chenmo and his children were covered in sweat as they worked under the sun.
At noon, Wu Yahui ca out of the backyard and said, "Everyone, lunch is ready. Please take a break and have lunch first."
Hearing this, everyone stopped working and went to shady spots to rest. Not long after, the won brought out lunch and divided the al.
Everyone got three two-grain stead buns, a bowl of vegetable soup, and several pieces of sausage. While the dishes were simple, they could have more if they weren't full.
The vegetable soup also had beaten eggs and thin slices of pork. While the at wasn't much, it added oil to the soup, which made it more fragrant. The sausages were made from pork and were delicious after being roasted.
With at in the al, everyone was content. But for Li Chenmo and his children, the food was far worse than what they usually ate.
Even though the food wasn't as delicious as what they had at ho, Dong Li and Dong Huang didn't complain and ate everything. They never forgot those days when they had to eat snow in winter and tree bark in sumr to survive.
So, even though they had a good life now, they never took it for granted and always felt grateful to have food to eat, clothes to wear, and a ho to stay in.
Seeing how his children ate without a word, Li Chenmo patted their heads and gave them so at sauce to enhance the flavor of the stead buns.
When everyone saw this, one of them asked, "Brother Chenmo, what is that? It slls so fragrant."
"It's at sauce made by my wife. Brother Chu, have a taste," Li Chenmo replied and shared the at sauce with them.
No one would dislike at sauce, especially at sauce made by Lu Jueyu. So after sharing with everyone, the jar of at sauce was gone.
