When everyone heard Yi Jiao's words, they ca over to check the grains. The mont they saw the white, plump rice, they were stunned.
Not to ntion their current situation, even during the good harvest year, the rice available in the state-owned grain and supply store was not as good as this one.
They also checked the flour and coarse grains. After they were done, they turned to Wei Zhiying, and one of them asked, "Sister Wei, are you sure we are using these to prepare lunch for everyone?"
Since she never cooked before, she didn't know that the grains and flour used by her family were any different from the ones used by the villagers.
After she washed her hands, she ca over and asked, "Sister-in-law, is there any problem with the grain and flour?"
When they heard this, Yi Jiao said, "Eldest sister-in-law, I know your family used to have lots of money, but now that your situation is different from before, you can't squander your money like this, ah!"
The mont she said this, everyone glanced at Wei Zhiying. They thought that as an educated person and soone who grew up in a wealthy family, she would be soone with lots of pride. While what Yi Jiao said was right, her words and tone were too blunt and might have offended others.
When they waited for so clashing, unexpectedly, Wei Zhiying only smiled and said, "Third sister-in-law, I will keep your words in mind. I admit that I knew nothing about these things. In the future, I will have to ask you and my second sister-in-law to help out."
Yi Jiao let out a long sigh when she heard this and said, "Eldest sister-in-law, usually we mix the white flour with coarse grain flour to make stead buns. This is already considered very good in our village."
"As for white rice, we mostly only have it during the New Year. For daily consumption, we either have coarse grains, sweet potatoes, or porridge as staples."
"I know it will be hard for you and your family to get used to this, but you have to plan for your children's future. Now that you can't join the production team's work, you have to be more careful when using your money," she added.
The group of won nodded in agreent after hearing her words. While her words were blunt, she ant well. They didn't earn much every year and, at most, were only able to save ten to twenty yuan. If they couldn't live frugally, it would be hard for their family to survive.
After hearing her words, Wei Zhiying said, "Third sister-in-law, I understand your aning. But I only have these at ho. If we didn't use this flour and grain, what should we use to prepare lunch?"
When she finished her words, Wu Yahui said, "Eldest sister-in-law, I have so extra grain and flour at ho. How about you use mine first and return it to when you buy it later?"
Wei Zhiying thought for a mont and nodded. She smiled and said, "Then I have to trouble you, second sister-in-law."
"It's no trouble at all," Wu Yahui replied with a smile.
Since the amount needed was a lot, the group of won went with her to get the grain and flour. Just after they walked out of the house, they saw Lu Jueyu riding a bicycle.
Seeing them, she stopped her bicycle and greeted them, "Sisters-in-law, where are you going?"
Everyone was familiar and had a good relationship with her, so when they saw her, they greeted her with a smile.
"Jueyu ah, we are going to Yahui's house. Where are you going?" one of the won asked.
"I plan to visit my parents and check on my second sister-in-law," Lu Jueyu replied.
Noticing that the Chen family's daughters-in-law were going together, she asked, "Sister-in-law, did sothing happen? Do you need any help?"
When they heard this, Wu Yahui replied, "My eldest sister-in-law didn't have enough grain and flour at ho, so we are going to my house to get so."
Thinking about how the villagers used to live frugally, Lu Jueyu could guess that they might be unwilling to use the Wei family's grain and flour. The ones consud by the Wei family were obtained from the mountain.
With how good the mountain soil was, the quality of the grain and flour was definitely far from what was sold in the state-owned grain and supply store.
As she reached this conclusion, she said, "Sister-in-law, since you are busy, I won't delay you any longer."
Hearing this, they nodded and said, "Okay, let's chat another ti."
Lu Jueyu nodded and rode her bicycle away. Even though she didn't join them to help out, no one said anything. Not to ntion that she was currently pregnant, her husband and children went to help. So, it counted as her family also lending a hand.
Everyone knew how frail her health was, and no one dared to ask her to co. What if sothing bad happened to her? They wouldn't be able to face the consequences.
After she left, the group of won quickly went to Wu Yahui's house. While everyone was busy, Lu Jueyu arrived at the Lu family's house.
She opened the gate and pushed the bicycle in. After she closed the door, she took the bamboo basket tied on the back seat and walked to her second brother's house.
Standing outside the door, before she could even knock, she heard her second brother's voice, begging for rcy.
"Wife, be gentle. Ouch! I'm sorry, I didn't an to. Please stop being angry and forgive . I promise I won't do it again."
"You scoundrel! You keep saying you are sorry and promise not to do it again, but you forget your words the mont you turn your head. You are an adult, yet you snatch your newborn sons' food. Don't you have any sha?" Wang Muxiao roared angrily.
