Li Chenze leaned down and kissed his wife before saying, "I will go visit your parents first. Be good and stay at ho."
"I know. Be careful on the road."
After that, Li Chenze left the room and saw Pan ijia outside. As he walked out, he said, "Second Sister-in-law, my wife is inside. Thank you for coming, and I'm sorry to trouble you."
Pan ijia waved her hand and said, "Eldest Brother, what are you saying? We are family. This is what I should do. Besides, I did have sothing to discuss with my Eldest Sister-in-law."
Hearing this, Li Chenze smiled and said, "Then I will leave my wife in your care, Second Sister-in-law."
Patting her chest, Pan ijia replied, "Leave it to , Eldest Brother. I will take good care of your wife."
Looking at her confident expression, Li Chenze chuckled and nodded. He was fourteen years older than his second sister-in-law. In his eyes, she was still just a little girl.
After he left, Pan ijia walked to the bedroom, closed the door, and saw her eldest sister-in-law rubbing her waist.
Seeing this, she placed the basket on the small table by the Kang bed and asked, "Eldest Sister-in-law, is your waist sore again?"
Zhang Dongi smiled at her and replied, "It's much better now compared to before."
Already familiar with each other, Pan ijia took off her shoes and climbed onto the bed. Sitting across from her sister-in-law, she asked, "Eldest Sister-in-law, when is your due date?"
"It should be four more weeks before I reach full term. Why do you suddenly ask about this?" Zhang Dongi replied.
Pan ijia opened the bamboo basket lid and took out the contents as she said, "Third Sister-in-law asked to bring these over for you. She said your health isn't as good as it used to be, so before you go into labor, you should nourish your body more."
Looking at the jars, Zhang Dongi asked, "Second Sister-in-law, what are these?"
"Oh, this one is dicinal herbal powder. It has no side effects and helps relieve soreness and muscle cramps. I use it too, and it's really good," Pan ijia explained while holding a dium-sized jar.
Then, she pointed to several larger jars and added, "These are filled with ginseng powder, ointnt for bruises, dicinal oil for muscle cramps and soreness, and also sothing called baby oil to prevent stretch marks."
She opened each jar and showed them to Zhang Dongi. After the introduction, she closed the lids and placed the jars on the desk beside the bed.
Leaning closer, she said, "Eldest Sister-in-law, besides bringing these things, I also ca to ask about the business you ntioned before. Are you still planning to sell snacks after the baby is born?"
Hearing this, Zhang Dongi replied, "I do plan to continue, but after my postpartum recovery, it will be winter. Even if we wanted to sell snacks, we might not have the ingredients. And with the current food shortage, people are more focused on buying grains than snacks."
Pan ijia thought for a mont and said, "If we can't sell snacks, how about selling vegetables or mushrooms?"
Zhang Dongi looked at her and asked, "Second Sister-in-law, are you planning to sell the vegetables from your greenhouse?"
Nodding, Pan ijia replied, "Eldest Sister-in-law, don't our houses all have several underground cellars? Third Sister-in-law said she found a way to grow mushrooms at ho. This way, even in winter, we can still have mushrooms to eat and sell the extras."
"Is it really possible to grow mushrooms at ho?" Zhang Dongi asked, surprised.
Scratching her nose, Pan ijia said, "Well, I'm not totally sure. But the Third Sister-in-law improved the pig feed formula and figured out a better irrigation thod."
"After using her irrigation thod, I don't have to water my garden manually and only need to fill the water jars once every five days. Since she could do that, I believe she can grow mushrooms at ho too. I trust her."
Recalling all the things Li Chenmo and Lu Jueyu had accomplished, Zhang Dongi no longer had doubts. She nodded and said, "It would be great if we can grow mushrooms at ho. That way, we can supplent the family's food too."
Hearing this, Pan ijia grabbed her hands and asked, "Eldest Sister-in-law, you will join us in growing mushrooms?"
Zhang Dongi nodded with a smile and replied, "Since my sisters-in-law have already shown the path to earn money, how can I not follow?"
"Great! I will inform the Third Sister-in-law later," Pan ijia said with delight.
"Okay."
As the two of them continued chatting about village gossip, Li Chenze arrived at Zhang Village. This village was located several kiloters from Xie Village. Although the distance wasn't far, they belonged to different production teams.
Zhang Village was under the 10th production team, while Xie Village belonged to the 12th. Therefore, their autumn planting schedules differed. At this mont, the villagers were still planting the winter wheat so there were not many people at the village.
As he rode into the village, several children spotted him and began following behind. Afraid they might trip from running, Li Chenze slowed down his bicycle as he headed toward his parents-in-law's house.
Seeing the goods on the cart, one of the older children asked, "Uncle, what did you bring?"
Smiling at the boy, Li Chenze replied, "Just so things for Grandpa and Grandma Zhang."
Though curious, most of the children only dared to peek at the items on the cart.
But no matter the place or era, there were always spoiled children. One such boy suddenly reached out and pulled at the leaves covering one of the bamboo baskets.
As soon as the leaves were pulled away, the contents were exposed. Seeing the eggs inside, the children exclaid in surprise, envy, and longing, "Wow, so many eggs!"
Hearing this, Li Chenze stopped his bicycle, got off quickly, and took the leaves from the boy's hand before tidying the bamboo basket. He looked at the boy and asked sternly, "What do you think you are doing?"
