Not long after they finished digging the pits, Li Lingyun and Chen Jianmin pushed a cart filled with pig manure over.
Seeing the father and son covered in dirt, Li Lingyun asked, "Third Brother, are you done digging the pits?"
Li Chenmo wiped the sweat from his forehead and replied, "We finished digging three pits. We will use these first, and if they are not enough, we will dig more later."
Li Lingyun nodded and poured the pig manure into the newly dug pits. Afterward, he and Chen Jianmin returned to the pigpen to transport the rest.
Once they had left, Li Chenmo and Dong Li began mixing the fertilizer. It took them over an hour to finish.
When they returned to the pigpen, Li Lingyun asked, "Third Brother, are you going to the brigade today?"
Li Chenmo nodded and replied, "I should be able to get it done today."
Since they needed to catch the opportunity for their trading business properly, Jiang Ziyu had to return to Yunnan tomorrow. Fortunately, their family had a good relationship with the brigade.
Although they had to ask the brigade secretary for a favor, they could make up for it by donating extra wheat during distribution days.
After a brief conversation, Li Chenmo and Dong Li returned ho, while Li Lingyun headed to the mountains to forage for mushrooms. As for Chen Jianmin and Chen Jianguo, they hurried back ho to help their parents before heading to school.
anwhile, Lin ifeng was boiling water when Aunt Lin entered the kitchen. Seeing her niece lost in thought, she called out, "ifeng."
Hearing her voice, Lin ifeng snapped out of her thoughts and turned her head. Seeing her aunt, she smiled and greeted her, "Good morning, Aunt."
Aunt Lin walked over and said, "From now on, you should call Mother. Your father will go to the production team today to change your household registration and report to the family elders to update your record written in our family's ancestry."
When she heard this, Lin ifeng only nodded but said nothing.
Thinking she was unhappy, Aunt Lin reached out, gently rubbed her niece's head, and asked, "ifeng, do you bla your aunt and uncle for doing this?"
Seeing the guilt in her aunt's gaze, Lin ifeng shook her head and said, "Aunt, I never blad you or Uncle. I know the two of you did this for my own good."
"I have thought it over and understand that if I continue to listen to my parents' words and demands, I will lose Ziyu's favor one day. Cutting off my relationship with them is the best way to free myself from their control."
"But no matter how much I understand it, I still feel sad and disappointed. I don't know what I did wrong for my parents to treat like this," she added, lowering her gaze.
Aunt Lin felt sorry for her niece and hugged her. She patted her back and said, "ifeng, none of this is your fault. The ones to bla are your parents for having such a biased heart."
Lin ifeng felt her nose sting, and her eyes burned. Closing her eyes, she let out a suppressed sob.
"Just cry it out. You will feel better afterward," Aunt Lin said with a sigh.
Lin ifeng buried her head on Aunt Lin's shoulder and cried out all her grievances, anger, and disappointnt. After a while, she finally cald down and said hoarsely, "Thank you, Mother."
Hearing her words, Aunt Lin knew she had let go of the reluctance and unwillingness in her heart. She wiped the tears from her adopted daughter's cheeks and said, "Tomorrow, you will follow your husband to a faraway place."
"As husband and wife, the two of you are partners for life. In the future, he will be the one walking by your side for the rest of your life. So, be brave and don't suppress your feelings. When you face a problem, talk it out with your husband."
"If you are bullied by your husband's family or feel wronged, you must send us a letter. Even if our family is not rich, we will never let our daughter suffer. At worst, we will co and bring you ho."
"Don't hold back your grievances and suppress yourself. Do you understand?"
Lin ifeng nodded and said, "I understand, Mother."
"Good," Aunt Lin said with a smile.
After crying out her feelings, Lin ifeng's heart felt lighter, and her mood improved. Once she let go of certain things, she no longer had expectations. This way, she also no longer felt disappointnt.
When the sun rose higher, Li Chenmo and his family finished their breakfast. While Li Chenmo cleaned the table and washed the dirty dishes, the children went to their room to get their school bags.
anwhile, Lu Jueyu was in the kitchen packing the children's lunch boxes. She packed six pan-fried buns for each of them, then added berries, olets, and cookies.
Besides that, she also packed mung bean soup to lower their inner heats. For their drink, she prepared lemon-infused water mixed with a pinch of spiritual herb powder.
After finishing the lunch boxes, she went to the front yard and saw her children already waiting for her. Seeing her walking over, Dong Huang hugged her leg and said, "Mother, we're going to school."
Lu Jueyu handed them their lunch boxes and said, "When you finish school, rember to go to your grandparents' house. We'll go back together later."
"Okay, Mother," Dong Huang nodded.
After the children left, Lu Jueyu prepared gifts for Wang Muxiao and the newborn babies. At the sa ti, she also prepared gifts for the brigade secretary.
At nine o'clock, the two of them locked the doors and left the house. While Li Chenmo pedaled the bicycle, Lu Jueyu sat on the back seat with her eyes closed.
Leaning against her husband's back, she asked, "Husband, when do you plan to tell the brigade about our greenhouses?"
