Han Yuheng was thrilled when he realized that his wife had agreed to go back with him. Fearing that he might be mistaken, he asked again, "Wife, are you really willing to go back with ?"

After a mont of silence, Bai Luyun finally said, "I will go back with you."

Feeling happy, Han Yuheng hugged her tighter and said, "Thank you, wife. When we go back, I have sothing to tell you."

Bai Luyun's eyes had lost their light, and she stared at the ground in a daze. If not for her son and daughter, she might have ended her life by now. She no longer had the will to continue living. Living was too painful for her.

Although Han Yuheng noticed sothing strange about his wife, he didn't ask anything. Right now, the most important thing was to bring his wife and son back.

Before he went to find his parents-in-law, he helped his wife clean her face and washed the clothes. Only after all the clothes were hung up to dry did he let out a sigh of relief. It took him several hours to wash the clothes, clean the yard, and tend to the vegetable gardens.

When the sun was setting in the western horizon, Father Bai, Mother Bai, and their two sons returned from the farmland. Noticing that he was the one who washed their clothes, they were stunned.

Noticing their footsteps, Han Yuheng turned his head and greeted them with a smile, "Father, Mother, Eldest Brother, Second Brother."

"Yuheng, you—what brings you here today?" Mother Bai asked.

"Mother, I have co to bring Ah Yun and Changting ho."

Hearing this, Father Bai nodded and said, "It's indeed ti for you to bring Ah Yun back. As husband and wife, both of you should talk if you have a problem and solve it. Don't just know how to quarrel."

"There is no grudge between husband and wife. Ah Yun was spoiled by since she was young. You should be more understanding toward her," Mother Bai added.

Han Yuheng nodded at their words and said, "Father, Mother, I will keep your teachings in mind."

"Now that both of you have reconciled, you should go back with her before dark. Don't let the child be exposed to the night air," Mother Bai said.

"Alright."

Since she had only brought a bundle of clothes with her when she ca, Bai Luyun brought back the sa bundle when she returned. Even though her husband had brought a lot of food and there was still plenty of the food left, she didn't take any with her.

As they walked back, Han Yuheng carried their son and his wife's clothes. While his wife walked without saying a word beside him, he kept glancing in her direction.

Seeing her pale face and thin body, he said, "Wife, let's have fish soup for dinner. I went to the mountain yesterday and brought back three big fish. I will make fish head soup and grilled fish for you tonight."

Bai Luyun heard his words, but her body couldn't react. She understood his words, but she didn't have the energy to respond. So, the conversation continued with her husband talking alone while she listened.

After a long ti, Han Yuheng's anxious heart finally sank, and he held his wife's hand with a pale face.

He looked at her empty eyes and pleaded, "Wife, can you please talk to ? Even if it's only a word, please talk to , okay? Wife, I'm here. Please look at . Don't scare like this."

Feeling sothing warm yet cold fall onto the back of her hand, Bai Luyun's empty eyes finally regained so clarity. Her eyes slowly focused on her husband's face, and she opened her lips tremblingly.

"Husband—" she said hoarsely, "I'm tired."

Hearing his wife's words, Han Yuheng lowered his head to hide his tears. After a mont, he squatted in front of her and said, "Wife, I will carry you if you are tired. Let take you ho, okay?"

Looking at her husband's broad back, Bai Luyun was lost in mories. Back then, he also carried her whenever she said she was tired. The young, thin boy with small shoulders had beco a mature man with broad shoulders.

He should have been her closest person, but now, though he was so close to her, it felt as if there was a vast chasm between them, separating him from her.

After waiting for a long ti, Han Yuheng turned around to check on his wife and was stunned when he saw her eyes filled with confusion, unwillingness, and regret.

At that mont, he knew that his wife's next action would determine their relationship. Even though he was unwilling to let her go, he still waited for her. Whatever her decision was, he would listen to her.

They looked at each other for a long ti in the darkness. When Bai Luyun took a step back, their son suddenly cried loudly, as if noticing that his mother was leaving, "Waaa—!"

Startled by her son's crying, Bai Luyun's body froze. When clarity returned to her mind, she saw her husband looking at her with a resigned smile and pleading in his reddened eyes.

In an instant, she heard sothing shatter in her mind. The heavy emotions weighing on her heart and soul for so long slowly disappeared with her son's cries.

In her 28 years of life, this was the first ti she felt so clear-headed, as if the fog covering her mind had finally lifted. The voice urging her to leave her husband was no longer heard. The only voice she could hear now was the faint voice in her heart.

'I love him, even with all his shortcomings, I still love him. I want to go back, to him, to our ho.'

Han Yuheng felt as though he were a death row prisoner awaiting his punishnt. When he saw his wife take a step back, he hugged their son tighter, trying to borrow so warmth from the small body.
